Here is a photo from the 2015 yearbook. The photo was the audience attending the annual meeting. I would assume many of the older ones are from bethel. Maybe someone on here knows who gets these front row tickets. Rank and file or Bethelites?

What is your relationship with ALCOHOL?
by nicolaou inhere in the uk new drinking guidelines have been issued which suggest "no more than 14 units a week - equivalent to six pints of beer or seven glasses of wine.".
another piece of the advice which is getting a lot of attention is that "if people drink, it should be moderately over three or more days and that some days should be alcohol-free.".
already people are making cries of "nanny state!

General health after learning TTATT
by Darkknight757 in4 months ago i was conducting the watchtower study along with a long list of responsibilities that come with being an elder in a very goofy congregation.
during this time my health was going down hill.
i've always had a low blood pressure,(102/65 or abouts) but for the past year it had creeped up to 135/90 range.. so 2 months ago after learning ttatt, i'm still considered an elder because the brothers won't let me step down, but i haven't done anything in that time except comment once at a meeting a few weeks ago.

Kudos to you ex Elders that walked away from all the stress. It's just not worth it. Take time to enjoy your life and family without the high blood pressure.
I am a female so, of course, no experience in the Elder stress department. I watched my Elder Dad stress and sometimes I could see it all over his face. Most of the stress came from what you all mentioned, what goes on behind closed doors at the Elders meetings and JC's.
Just curious, burnedout, I read your story from 5 years ago. Are you and your family active at all? I hope you escaped, along with your family.

Double life
by Esmeralda001 inis there a way i can successfully live a double life?
don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to get engaged in activities that are condemnable according to the *bible* (not the *wt*) standards.
i figured that the only way i can get the brothers and sisters to leave me along is by pretending that i am an unemployed drop out.

Great advice from Rebel8.
Personally, I could care less what these JW's think. If you don't want to answer their intrusive questions, tell em it's none of their business. They don't have a problem being forward with you, why should you worry about being forward with them.
If they were truly your friends, you should be able to share your joys, troubles and success with them.

Are JW's allowed to have close non JW friends?
by 007DB1 ini am a non-participating christian who is fully respectful of but never had anything to do with jw.. i have a jw friend who seems to closely follow his jw belief's.
i have met most of his family and friends who all are also jw's.
he says i am his only non-jw good friend.. he is getting married this year to his long time gf and with our recent growing more guarded and distant friendship, i am wondering what is going on?.

I 007DB1 that is interesting. Typically JW's avoid non JW's like the plague. Maybe these are the more open minded ones. Uber JW's would mark these ones as "weak."
Esmarelda. JW's may not know the person is worldly. My sons friends all have beards and tattoos. Dead give away with that one. It depends on how your friends look. The "worldly" friends I had lunch with today look very normal. The less you tell people, the better.

Hello, I'm new here too!
by redpilltwice inhi everybody, 1st post here.
20 years jw, elder for 6 years, regular pioneer for 3 years, have always been following the 2012 candace conti abuse case with much interest, especially since the case suddenly disappeared from www.watchtower.com's news section (thanks brother j. r. brown, office of public information, because it led me to "worldly" websites for more info), leading to more and more dissatisfaction , leading to jwfacts, jwsurvey, ad1914, wtdocuments etc., leading to my awakening about 4 months ago, now fading faster and faster to zero meetings and zero field service...and you know what?
it feels good!.

I would love to take that lovely sister to lunch. These Co's think they are little Gods. You would be surprised how people will back down when you speak up.
Power comes in numbers. If we could only get more people to let these guys know they won't take their crap.

"You suffer a lot you hate a lot."
I don't think it's hate. I don't hate anyone. I think it's hurt. You have been hurt yourself. As someone mentioned before, some on here have endured more than I can possibly imagine going through. You see, I have been hurt but some have been abused (sexually, physically and emotionally), I can't even imagine what some have had to put up with. The scars are deep for some. It's not my place to judge them, I have never walked in their shoes.
Closed,I wish you and your family all the best.

It is not encouraged. If you have non JW friends, you keep it to yourself but if someone sees you hanging around with them you WILL get a talking to about bad association.
I have non JW friends. They are better friends then ANY JW friend. They don't dump you when you no longer believe what they believe. Even though you are the same person. They like you for who you are. I had lunch with 2 of them today. No judgement, just a really nice lunch with 2 people who like ME.
