Question for those still attending the Kingdom Hall
by ToesUp inthis a question more out of curiosity, because we have not stepped foot in a kh in 3 years.. how is the attendance at the meetings/assemblies?
i know the answer will vary due to location.. are you (especially elders) receiving any notification or communication from bethel or co's that there is an upsurge of people that are simply disappearing or out right dis associating?.
thanks, in advance, for your feedback!

I never understood how David did all of those evil deeds and was forgiven over and over again. Jehovah did not strike him dead but Lots wife did the simple act of turning to look at her possessions being destroyed and BAM...dead on the spot. I guess it's all in WHO you are. Nothing different in JW world. It's all in WHO you are. -

Has anyone noticed the JW movies are trying to normalise their lifestyle?
by truthseeker inhaving watched the prodigal son returns movie produced by the organization and a recent mini-clip of a brother in london who is shown jogging and doing normal everyday things while wanting to "reach out" it occurred to me that the organization is trying to normalize their bizarre lifestyle and beliefs for the benefit of non-witnesses.. what do i mean by normalization?
they try to make the witnesses look like just another christian denomination who are reasonable while their members live and enjoy normal lives that appear to be within the mainstream.. they do this by not mentioning anything to do with higher education, armageddon or the urgency of the end of the world nor is their discussion or mention of the blood issue.
these are things mentioned often at kingdom halls and in study articles.. watching the prodigal son returns, the family appears to live a normal life, going to meetings and studying.

I believe what I was trying to say in my post Nitty Gritty that in JW land all that glitters is not gold. Brother Xgets up on stage and performs his act then leaves the hall and has a totally different life style. That seems to be a pattern. What the videos display are fairytale lives. I have seen it over and over in my lifetime. Double lives.
We watched at a CIrcuit assembly a few years ago. Two outstanding families interviewed. If you didn't know the families you would have thought...wow what a great example. The realities of their lives were a lot different than what was being presented from the platform. Like I said ....seems to be a pattern.

Chitty
by StopTheTears ini've learned that many years ago, there was a man named brother chitty of some prominence in the jehovah's witnesses organization.
it fact, chitty was a member of the governing body.
chitty was asked to resign his position after serving for many years and nothing much was ever said about it to jehovahs witnesses.

"Also, It is unfair to defame a man from accusations without first listening to his defense."
How could anyone ask the guy anything for him to defend? WT moved him away...never to be heard from again. Remind you of any other religion?
The good ole...sweep the sh*t under the rug so no one can see. The JW way. "We wouldn't want to bring reproach on Jehovahs name." Translation : We wouldn't want anyone to hear about this, it could make us look bad.

All their videos are the same. Leave, you're screwed and nothing will go right. Stay in the org and everything will be wonderful and beautiful. All wrapped up with a pretty bow. And they lived happily ever after.
What do you expect from a bunch of men who have never been in the real world. So unrealistic!

I think most of the elderly JW's are having to face their mortality for the very first time. It is scary.
We have some older ones in our family and they are having a hard time with the iPads (technology). My spouse and I often wonder why their "loving brotherhood" does not put on some kind of workshop at the Kingdom Halls to help these ones learn how to use their devices. I guess the answer is as simple as they couldn't give a sh*t.

Who can you trust to admit you have doubts?
by MrMonroe in(that is, doubts).
in margaret atwood's "the handmaid's tale", a futuristic story of life inside a repressive, abusive big brother-style society tightly controlled by religious fundamentalists, there's a passage in which the protagonist is alone with another woman at a state-controlled centre where prayers are generated -- then printed out and read out -- by a machine.
the other woman asks, in barely more than a whisper, "do you think god listens to these machines?

I trust my spouse. That's it. NO ONE ELSE! Share NOTHING with NO ONE! Trust is not my strong suit.
