Simon - Congrats and Thank you.
Mrs. Toes and I came here about 3 years ago. I am very happy that I will not be attending this years memorial. Many thanks to all of you on this site keeping us informed, encouraged and laughing!
Mr. Toes
it's the forum's 16th birthday today!.
amazing that not only have we lasted so long but we're still thriving and growing.. thanks to all the people and often colorful characters who've contributed to the site over the years.
some are still here with us, some have since moved on, but all have touched each others lives in some way along our different journeys.. .

well on this side of the planet, the southern hemisphere/ new zealand, the 2016 memorial service in local kingdom halls will be over for another year.
another great big anticlimax.
some family and relatives will have gone - but unless i ask my sister, i generally have no idea about attendance and partaker numbers.
by no means is this a heartwarming "experience" illustrating how an ex-jw skillfully "reached the heart" of a current jw, moving them to re-examine their belief system.
that won't be my take on my half hour visit with an elder's wife last sunday.
no one scored points here as is almost always the case in these interactions.. we live at the extreme southern tip of texas, on the u.s.-mexico border in a city of about 200,000. twenty years ago there were 20 spanish language congregations, 2 english.
TMS
Great job explaining things to her. The same outcome as always with a JW....."None of this remotely fazed her." Crazy!
so an old friend of mine from the congregation hit me up today.
the story goes like this when we were jw's:.
- this guy used to be madly in love with me but i didn't see him as anything more than a friend.

By responding, you may as well walk up to the wall and bang your head. It will make ZERO difference what you say.
The Elders have a task at hand. They have been instructed to get in touch with DF'd and inactive ones to invite them to the memorial.
Not trying to hurt your feelings but all he is doing is a task that he was instructed to do. Nothing more.
You were kind and loving in reaching out to him. Let it go at that...a good deed.
Like Doc says....the best revenge is living a happy and successful life. Hugs to you! The world needs more kind and loving people like you.
it's not the rings... that was highlighted for a different reason..
He's a coward. There is not "boldness" when it comes to these 7.
They want us to teach our little children to be "bold witnesses" yet they can not do the same.
Do as I say, not as I do mentality. Hypocrisy and lack of love is the main reason people are hitting the exit. People are seeing right through these guys. They are doing a fantastic job of exposing themselves. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK WT!
during the talk today, the speaker said, in reference to apostates, "don't make mountains out of molehills" and "all those who are do good to look up isaiah 43:18.
" to save you trouble, it says: "do not remember the former things, and do not dwell on the past.".
i'd like to see him read that scripture to the victims of the hundreds and hundreds of abuse cases the arc has unveiled from over the past 50 years.
l guess we all have our own reasons and thought it would give insight to others considering going to reconsider and not go.
I don't hang out or attend events where I feel that I am not wanted. I refuse to attend just to boost their numbers.
between two congregations that i know of four elders have stepped down in the last two months!
there is something really going on in this mandmade organization!
it's busting at the seams!.
I thought this would be a good thread to bump.
Two years later, is anyone seeing Elders still stepping/or wanting to step down?
i have physically not attended a meeting in 3 years and knew ttatt for about 6-18 months before that.
in that time i have only had 2 physical visit from the jws.
no return to jehovah brochure or memorial invite place under my door mat.
