Single Sisters Over A Certain Age Group Getting A Bad Rap

i'm new here; one of my relatives was a member on this forum a few years ago and told me about it.

anyways, as a sister who has been in the org since childhood and now in her late 40's (plus as a woman of color), i have noticed that a number of brothers have an ageist attitude.

they are very accepting of young women under 26 and rejecting women over that age, particularly those in their 30's and over.. is this an unspoken mindset from wthq (specifically from bethel), or is it that quite a number of males (sorry, i'm not sexist here) have this type of mentality?

In the world (since we are evil "worldly people now), we are noticing people seem to be waiting to get married. The younger ones seem to want to get educated, travel and generally enjoy their lives before, if ever, they get married.

You mentioned that the JW men seem to want the pretty faces and thin waists. This will not get the typical man very far. We all get older and as Bette Davis said, "getting old is not for sissies." Our faces and waists do not typically stay the same as when we were 18. The JW's are all about appearances. The men want the Elder title and the typical Elders wife (not all) likes the title just as much (if not more) than the Elder. Yes, they love the thin pretty wife but if that is all their is to the marriage....good luck to them both. There are a lot of good men out there and they are not all JW's. I have met some of the kindest, nicest men in the world. You just may have to kiss a lot of frogs to find your prince.

This cult is male driven (I am a female). No where else in my life was I EVER treated as an "inferior." I was told when I was still active that I was not submissive to my husband. What they didn't know is that my husband does not lord it over me. He listens to me and respects my opinion. Just as I listen to him and respect his opinion. That's a no no in JW land.

You mentioned you were making decisions about your "spirituality." My suggestion is .....RUN LIKE HELL!

I think the point everyone is trying to get across is. It is ridiculous to tell your children not to smoke cigarettes, while you smoke a pack or two a day (in front of your kids). Not only do your children not take you seriously but they have lost respect for you as well. The GB are loosing the respect of the rank and file. Like the saying goes, "do as I say not as I do." HYPOCRITES!

The amusing thing about it is, WT has no shame in being labeled a HYPOCRITE. If you research narcissist(s) you will see amazing similarities. A narcissist will never look at themselves as the problem and will never apologize for anything. NEVER!

I am surprised he said that. Like you, we are where we are today, because of our research of this cult. Hopefully, the younger ones will do just as he said and do that research. The rest just accept if for what it is and bob their heads up in down in agreement.

All the young ones have to do is observe the WT to see what it really consists of. HYPOCRISY! If 2 old people like my spouse and I can see it, certainly the younger generation can see it.

Our teenager is a smart kid. Been showing him/her the anti education crap. He/she can't believe it! I asked a question. Where else in your life does anyone tell you that learning and more education is wrong? The answer I received was...."no where else but when we were JW's." It is just not normal to tell someone that learning and exploring and bettering yourself if wrong.

I thought I would bump this thread for any new ones who have not seen it. I showed this to my teen last week. He/she thought it was great! Her emotion was pure! She did a great job. Very brave girl.

Joel Osteen is a motivational speaker. He tells people what they want to hear. He is a wonderful speaker and knows how to work an audience. He's a charmer. This is what people want to hear. "We love everyone." I don't know the man, he could be the nicest person in the world. Religion is a business and a place to socialize. It is selling salvation and working well for Joel and his counterparts. WT does not know how to run a business like Joel, the rank and file are not being built up but torn down.

I hate religion. I will NEVER be a part of any religion ever again. NEVER. It is a business, nothing else. I , personally choose not to participate. That's just me. Some choose to play the stock market, some don't. That's the beautiful thing about the freedom to choose.Hey...if you can run a business like that, go for it. Who says money can't buy you happiness. lol

Spiritual equals visual tasks a JW performs. Meeting attendance, service, pioneering, Bethel service, need greaters, reaching out, etc. If you are a "spiritual" person you are successfully doing the tasks they put before you.

so the elders called wanting to meet with me and my husband.

most likely because i told a concerned jw friend of mine that i really care about that i wasn't coming back and a couple of the issues i had.

i didn't bring up any so-called "apostate" information, just told her about the australian royal commission and that there are a lot of unscriptural teachings and that the gb apply scriptures that are about jehovah and jesus to themselves, which is idolatry.
