Sorry for your loss. Many of the Pioneers in our area were going to the funeral homes webpage. They would add comments to the obituary regarding the JW hope. Easy way to count time.

Since they are starting to move in. Does anyone have any inside photos of the lake side rooms? Compared to a basic room? Just curious! -

how many kingdom hall
by pepperheart inwhen all the money from from the new york and london bethels has been used up,how many kingdom halls do people think will have to be sold off per year ?.

You would need new members to build new halls. I think there are tons more people leaving than there are joining. All you have to do is Google Jehovahs Witnesses and a ton of negative info comes up. The internet is Killing them and will continue affecting their numbers.
Some that are pissed are staying in due to the social networking, family and some have to stay if they work for another JW. The ones that are pissed are voting with their wallets. We have spoken to a few of these ones.

CNN doc 'Holy Hell'
by Worldling9 ini just saw the documentary 'holy hell' on cnn, about a cult called buddhafield.
it was a small group but has existed since the 80s and still has a few followers.
classic cult stuff, much of which i found eerily familiar.

We did watch it , there was some similarities. Very good documentary. It was sad to see, at the end of the video, how this man had abused his power and deeply affected these peoples lives.

Today's Text - You MUST Love Jehovah!
by Divergent inthursday, september 1. you must love jehovah your god.—matt.
22:37.. if you have a loving relationship with jehovah, you will be a ‘doer of the word, not a hearer only.’ (jas.
1:22-25) a “doer” has faith that produces such works as zealous preaching activity and participation in christian meetings.

You must be a "spiritual person" which equates to tasks. Tasks that WT commands you to do. Where is the scripture that you have to put 10 hours a month in Field Serve us? Man made rules. Legalism at it's best!

60th Anniversary today - I was baptized 9-01-56
by Bonnie_Clyde in60th anniversary – i was baptized 9-1-56 .
my parents weren’t witnesses at the time, but my witness uncle studied with my brother and i. i think the only reason my parents let him was because my brother was having mental issues and were hoping it would help him.
my father surprised me a few years later, started studying and was baptized in 1961, later appointed an elder.

Thank you Bonnie. I really enjoyed your post.
I am so sorry your daughter is shunning you. I know that hurts. It is good to hear that you are happy and the majority of your immediate family is close knit and out.
It is amazing how unloving and cruel the organization can be to the members. So many things that you mentioned in your post are the exact things that made us take our exit 3 years ago. We left together, along with our children. We are happier now. Why is that? We were always told that we would be miserable. Not so.
Enjoy your life and freedom away from a controlling and abusive organization.
Hugs to you!

Seen smoking a cigarette
by Godsendconspirator ini won't say i got "caught" because that would imply i was keeping my habit hidden.
i'm tired of constantly doing that with these guys.
yesterday, my friend and i were waiting for some people and decided to smoke a cigarette to pass the time.

It's funny how they are afraid of someone smoking a cigarette but are fine with a person in the hall that is a pedofile. Crazy people!

I think this is an important question...
by The Rebel inwhen i first met my wife and on that so important first date i was 21 years old and sadly broke, she was an 18 year old au pair.
any way i treated her to mcdonald's but she had to pay for the meal.
now over 20 years later and still together, i realize how lucky i was she didn't say on that first date " if you can't afford to pay "our" mcdonald's meal f...off" .

I guess it depends on how much you really like the person you are sitting across from.
My spouse (married over 30 years) sometimes "forgot" his wallet . I (the woman) paid. It's cool....I liked him. He is the ONLY guy I really liked. We were best friends then and still are. We are very fortunate (as JW's would say...blessed).
There may come a time in life when the wife makes more money or has to support the family financially. It's no big deal, we are a team and the money goes in the family "pot." That may not work for some, but it worked great for us. It still does.

by Chook inabout 5 years ago when i was in, my son who at the time was 18 needed somewhere to sleep for a couple of nights due to work commitments ,in a city 2 hours from home.

"BUT, haven't you watched one of the latest music clips on the broadcasting website??
It is all about showing hospitality!!"
BUT...only to exemplary JW's.
