Anyone know what the special talk is this weekend?

non jw so thank you for bearing with me.

do special talks happen with individual congregations or is it throughout?

i was told by my husband that i had to go with him and the rest of his family to the special talk that was happening this weekend.

Sorry...nope...too busy enjoying life. We have been to so many years of "special" talks. They are not so "special". Just another talk. Boring!

The way this cult treats women is disgusting. I am female and felt inferior while still in JW land. Out for 4 years and have never felt that way anywhere else in life. Just a warning...STAY AWAY FROM THIS CULT! IT IS ABUSIVE, DESTRUCTIVE AND CRUEL! Sorry you have to put up with this crap.

If this couple ever comes on this site, I would like to let them know how I absolutely loved how the took out their DA letters and walked out. Good for you. Now...go enjoy your life and raise your kids like good hardworking people in the normal world do. If your family shuns you, it is their loss, not yours.

Just more proof of how the Eldurs have the noose tied and ready but just need to kick the chair out from under you to finish you off. We have had an Eldur with his noose tied but we won't allow him to kick the chair out. He's pissed. He won't be happy until we are hanging.

The up side of this JC recording is there is now 5 people that are out. Those kids will be better off for it.

Large suburb in California goes from 7 English congregations to 2

i recently caught up with an old friend who lives in fremont, ca (yes, the same fremont where candace conti is from).

it’s a good-sized suburb of san jose, with around a population of 230,000. i lived there for a few years during the 90’s, and at the time there were 7 english jw congregations with the following names:.

north, central, south, niles, warm springs, mission hills, and irvington.

Here is the key that WT just doesn't seem to get. I don't know about you all but the cost of living has not gone down over the years. The retired working man/womans pension no longer exists. If you have no insurance with your employer or are self employed, the cost of health insurance for a family can out weigh even your mortgage. The cost of food, utilities, housing, education, etc. is NOT going down. WT doesn't get that. How can you understand when you are in your JW bubble with all expenses paid.

You Can Encourage An Inactive Christian!

this is part of the clam meeting this week.. how contradictory is it?.

first, they instruct people to avoid inactive ones and to shun them and to treat them the same as da'd or df'd ones, .

Really? You can invite them to the memorial/special talk/assembly BUT if you run into them in public you are "encouraged" to shun them. You just can not make this sh*t up.

I wish I could tell you my story of how my spouse and I have been "encouraged" by one particular Elder. The abuse has been incredible. Even if I had one ounce of even considering to "come back to Jehovah", this behavior of this Elder has slammed any hope of us returning. The true colors of this organization and how the majority of these "shepherds" treat the flock is just mind numbing. I'd rather take a life long dirt nap than spend eternity with these clowns.

as usual, despite the unspoken passive aggressiveness, i was polite,.

anyway, this year, he started his presentation by saying: "the governing body (gb) wants us to read this bible passage to you!

The past GB members had some winners as well. Some were unloving and unkind as well. The thing that is splitting this generation of GB members, is the internet. The technology that WT has embraced is biting them in the a**.

When You See a JW Do You Get Flustered?

i used to dread seeing a witness coming toward me.

now i am quite comfortable and hope that they may say something to me..... does your blood pressure rise when you see a jw coming toward you?

Nope...we smile and let them know that we are doing better than ever. If they ask any prying questions, we are not afraid to let them know that we do not need to discuss that with them. They have NO power over you. It drives them crazy when you give them NOTHING!

in january i quit a job of 22 years to work at a shop that does screw attachments.

If your old Company really needs your knowledge and you want to. Use it as an opportunity to be a consultant on your terms, your rates and when you are available. This way you can profit from your skills and keep your current job. Wish you the very best!

Jehovah's Witnesses Knocking at my Front Door

i have jw's knocking on my door about 4 times a year.

they walk along the whole street knocking on all the properties trying to hand out leaflets about god.. i always engage them in conversation.

my street has a very large number of oap's who could really do with some extra help.....grass cutting, shopping, cleaning, help around the house, gardening, diy etc.. never once have i been able to persuade any jw's to do something worthwhile for these residents.. i'm left with the thought that jw's don't want to do anything really worthwhile for these people.......why ?.

It is a JW checkbox they have to do. Turn field circus time in on a monthly basis. This is how the measure your "spirituality" (aka JW tasks). When they ask how your spirituality is, what they are asking is, are you doing all the "tasks" (service, meetings, assemblies, etc.). That is how you are measured. They don't give a rat's ass about you or anyone else. Just a JW check box.
It took me a while to figure out the true meaning of the word "spirituality". I finally figured it out.
