went to the meeting last night with my believing wife.
the co was visiting and delivered a really cult-ish talk on loyalty but that's another story.. they made the announcement that starting january 1st they were going to have only 3 congregations in this town instead of 4.. they are dissolving one and growing the territories of the remaining 3. the reason given is that many of the elders are getting up there in age and can't do what they used to do.
basically not enough elders and ministerial servants...or even men reaching out for that matter.
"The bent of the discussion from the platform was that brothers who are not reaching out to be elders and ms are showing lack of faith and are apostate leaning.."
The beatings will continue until morale improves. Gee....I wonder why so many are exiting. We left...who the heck wants to stay where they are not wanted?
that;s what my wife (and all jw's) gets to hear about us at the kingdom hall today, (hmmmm, i wonder if she'll raise her hand to answer this one) ... .
watchtower study ... today, apostates and others who create divisions in the congregation use “smooth talk and flattering speech.” (romans 16:17, 18) they may pretend to care about others, but in reality, they are selfish.. (the watchtower - study edition (simplified version) 10/17 page 4 paragraph 7).
My spouse and I take what WT writes with a grain of salt. Our life and overall attitude has improved immensely since exiting the cult. What does that tell you?
Yes...we lost "friends" but not the kind of friends we want. The family that no longer speaks to us or has limited association. Well....that is their loss! We are a very nice and loving family and we will not change in that department.
WT is VERY worried about the amount of people that are exiting and figuring out that this is not "Jehovah's loving organization." Karma is coming to bite WT. I have a feeling there are some rocky days coming for WT. It's always a pleasure to watch a narcissist squirm and sweat. Grab your popcorn and enjoy the show everyone!!!
so i suffered through another one of these idiotic "encouraging" talks by tony vives.. he prattled on about loyalty, and pretty well concentrated on three areas.
loyalty to ones marriage mate, which is no problem.
if one is married they really do owe loyalty to their husband or wife.. second, he hammered on "loyalty" by having nothing to do with a df'd family member, even a child!
Sorry ya had to sit through that. Ugh!

So what should that tell us? NO ONE wants to be an Elder. The legal ramifications of being an Elder are tremendous and I think the younger Brothers know this. They also know if the Elders are sued, Watchtower will be no where to be seen. The cash and "love" only flow one way.

Give it time folks. With all the JW negative publicity on the internet, who will want to join? If my child or mate was studying to be a JW, I would freak. All you have to do is Google Jehovah's Witnesses and a incredible amount of into comes up....NOT good info. Karma is a bi*ch and she's coming for Watchtower! Karma can be slow but she can be brutal! so yesterday a family friend who was never age overs witness give me a phone call.
he says that he is quite upset with me and wants to give me a chance to explain why i'm treating my father so portly.
mind you i have not seen my father or mother in about 3 years and they refused to talk to me except for the occaisional crazy letter that my mother will send.. anyway my the family friend stated that he spoke to my mother and brother and they both told him that because i choose to leave the religion and in turn separate myself from the family it has caused my 80 something year old father a tremendous amount of stress and she is becoming sick and they're not sure how much longer he will be with us.. shoot felipe nothing they say really bothers me much anymore but the fact that i'm being accused of slowly killing my father because i've decided to make a decision that's better from my own family is actually quite frustrating to me.. give you hours after having of the conversation with our family friend i get a call from my older brother who then begins to be raped me and tells me that i should accept responsibility for the fact that i am the cause of our ejean father's poor health and that leaving jehovah causes problems not only for me but for those who love me.
Yup...in JW land, it is ALWAYS your fault. Tell them that maybe belonging to a abusive/destructive cult is killing him. Don't let them get to you. They try and bully people. I had it happen by a family member too. You control how much power you give them.

just spent 8 hours in a 1 day elders school last weekend.
clarification given: "moving forward any elder, ms, or pioneer who themselves or someone under their roof enrolls in higher education, may no longer qualify for privileges in the congregation.
their qualifications will have to be reviewed by their boe.".
We witnessed this same scenario in our former congregation. This same message was given several years back, of an Elder loosing his "privileges" if his kids attend college. Watchtower then created a caveat to this...."it would go before the Body of Elders." What that essentially means is how much does this particular Elder contribute to the congregation (time, money, ass kissing). How exemplary is he and his family? This exact thing played out in our KH. The Elder really "bumped it up" in the spirituality department, as did his children. We saw this Elder pretty much carry the entire mid week meeting. He had part after part after part. His kids all pioneered and kissed the CO's ass. It was disgusting to watch.
My spouse and I are all for higher education but this really woke us up. I would love to thank the Elder that helped us see "the light." The light just kept getting brighter and brighter and now our family is free. THANK YOU WATCHTOWER FOR SHOWING US YOUR BLATANT HYPOCRISY! We couldn't have done it without you and all your exemplary spiritual counterparts!
