Oh yes! I had an Elders wife who constantly wanted to tell me how to raise my kids. Of course, they had NO kids, so she was a friggin expert. She also liked to criticize my hair, make up, etc. I gave her a talk that was long over due. My tone was firm and I gave her a piece of my mind. Interesting....she NEVER bothered me again. It's funny how that works.

Annoying jws
by Jrjw ina 'concerned' jw in my congregation rang me earlier and said she's noticed my daughter sits miserable at the meetings and said she's a right miserable girl in general.
i said she's happy and hyper when she's not at the meetings they're just really boring and she doesn't want to be there.
apparently i'm a bad parent coz she feels that way.

Just a story I found of how one family left.
by days of future passed inwhile wandering on youtube, i came across a user named trueface.
perhaps you have already watched it.
i liked it because they describe their thoughts on how events and research led them to leave the wt.

Great interview. This young man and his lovely wife were also interviewed by JT and Lady Ce on Critical Thinker. He talks about how his in laws exited the cult.
One person from the congregation showed up at the Sisters memorial? Nice! What a disgusting cult.
I believe we will see more and more of these interviews in the near future. WT and JW's are really showing the public their true colors.
Keep it up WT and JW's, you are doing a great job in sinking your own ship.

Dumbstruck!
by Lost in the fog ini am absolutely dumbstruck and lost for words.
one of the elders who criticised me over my use of social media rang me up to ask how i was doing.
after the usual blah-blah-blah i asked him if he had attended the recent elders one day school.

Ignore it! If you don't want to out yourself, don't respond. I know it is hard. There are a lot of good people in the org but they will rat you out in a heart beat. Ignore it and any calls, visits, etc. They will forget about you eventually. Sad but true.
You gotta make a clean break. Once you start opening up to them, they will report you. If you don't care about being DF'd....talk away. Good luck!

Do you or did you experience too much intrusion into your personal life by the elders in your congregation?
by UnshackleTheChains ini ask this question because i have personally experienced first hand the control and intrusion into my personal life by the elders at our hall; and for virtually trivial things or non issues!
what's more, i regularly hear of individuals moving to other halls because they were stumbled by the thought police....er, i mean these elders.. have you had any such experience?
have your elders been a bit ott over trivialities?.

Positive Topic - ‘Good Elders’ or Extra Special Kindness shown by elders
by Farmer Jim1 inafter the last topic getting me mad, does anyone have a positive experience of dealing with an elder or a particular favourite elder that was a top bloke?.

Yes, we new some good Elders but as one poster said above, in the end they will tow the party line. A cult has a tight grip on people. Even good people. These Elders THINK they are doing the right thing and that Jah is watching them. Like I said...It's a tight grip. TRUST NO ONE!!!

Oh yes we have!!! It was an Elder. Guess what they got when they tried to intrude. NOTHING! We told him NOTHING. We felt like we didn't owe him anything. This is a volunteer organization, not the FBI or IRS! We pretty much let him know to....BUTT OUT!
Remember....the Elders only get as much power as WE allow. Have some fun with it. If you ever want to piss someone off, find the achilles' heel. Most Elders love the power and title of being an Elder (that is their achilles heel). Don't give them the power and they get pissed.
It was kinda fun playing with the little ass*ole!

gb, PLEASE, PLEASE UP THE ORGANIZATIONAL HARSHNESS IN 2018
by steve2 insometimes i have expressed a longing for jw organization to tone down its rhetoric and become, well, nicer and more loving.
i have not been alone in my hope.
some posters have even said that if a wave of kindness washed over jw organization and, say, the shunning doctrine was modified (e.g., left up to the individual's conscience without fear of retribution from elders), they'd go back.

Yes...WT needs to keep up the good work. They are doing a tremendous job hanging themselves. WELL DONE WT!!!
