My turning point: The anti higher education talks, cheered on by a bunch of old men in NY who have never lived in the real world.
Oh...there is just too many to list.
my turning point: serving on a child abuse judicial case.

we've all gotten a little older (the beav was about 60 at the time this was taken):.

Loved that show! Still watch the re runs. RIP June and Ward!
the wt is at it again it seems.
playing dirty as it can, trying to silence dissenters.. the john cedars channel on youtube has been taken down after the posting of a video critique of regional (district) convention leaked videos.. sounds like something putin would do in russia.
you know what they say, birds of a feather fly together--what a murder of crows all of'em!.
Give it up Watchtower! Your critics are not going away. Just growing everyday! Your true colors are showing!
i have been on a fade for years, so this is the first time i have been in a kh for months.the deceased was barely 52 when he died.
from cancer.
one year younger than me.the memorial was the standard "read the obituary column word for word, then do the jw commercial for 25 minutes" plus a new twist (to me), they played a video called "around the corner" https://youtu.be/tfccoyp0vsu.
Thank you for posting that cartoon DOC. I was just thinking about that one! lol

So sorry for your loss. I know you will miss him.
I like your bus analogy. It is spot on. WT just keeps pumping this "hope" out and keeps the masses pining to see their dead loved ones again. Most are elderly ones who have no education, no savings, no 401k, living on meager earnings. Some are working well into their 70's at hard labor jobs. I wonder how many think about the 1969 article about you will not graduate from high school. I believe some elderly ones are scratching their heads wondering deep down inside they have been duped. They just can't give it up. Some of our relatives have even said, "where else would we go?" Sad and pathetic. WT has a lot to answer for. I hope I live long enough to see the dirty rotten scoundrels pay for the false hope they have given all of us.
don't know if this a belief or scandal.
did you get the guy who had raised his family while serving?
it didn't say how he or his wife became witnesses, but;;;;;; he is a doctor, was invited to be a doc for the wt, sold out his home (at loss ((i bety)), moved, but you can be sure he didn't get a room at bethel.
I love how WT portrays these "important JW's." They tell a story but don't tell "the rest of the story." How did this doctor receive his education? If he received his degree while being a JW, how can he bash higher education?
We witnessed this on several occasions during circuit assemblies. A young man we knew of that was planning on attending college was interviewed by the CO. He was asked how he "maintained his integrity while attending High School." He gave beautiful answers. I am sure his answers were well rehearsed. The CO failed to ask the all important question, "what will you be doing once you graduate from High School?" The ones in the audience that knew this young boy well, knew "the rest of the story." JW's are the biggest hypocrites on the face of the planet! They cherry pick what they want to discuss. It's all about how you LOOK!
i haven't been to a meeting in 15 years but my mother and sister are hard as j.w's.
the brothers they are appointing elders are at best suspect like one guy from my old hall made elder, big time drug used before becoming a j.w his talks are all over the place and would have struggled to make m,s years ago but with at least 60 to 70 % of young ones leaving the pool to pick from is at best reduced.. 2 other recent elders both young and zero life experience both on benefits one not well at all falls asleep all the time.. the decent, kind elders mostly older and are decent people with alot of life experience are burning out fast as there are so few of them left like 3 per congro of 100 publishers.. then you have the rich elders who wouldn't ever think of inviting some poor older or mis-fit person out to the expensive placers they go to as they couldn't afford to go so they are above the r&f and the r&f get pissed off with them.
then we have the ones who have "put the kingdom 1st" who are now old worn out and barely getting by from welfare cheque to welfare cheque that are saying "the system should have been over many years ago" it's still here and they are struggling everyday.. then there are the pioneers who have a low payed reduced hour job that seem to think anyone who has anything is totally materialistic and looks down on anyone getting a new car buying a house ect.. along with the child abuse issues, the generation change, access to information the the g.b don't want anyone to know ,not to mention the issues around blood.. is there a tipping point coming????
We asked a close friend to explain the overlapping generations. Crickets!!! My spouse pointed out, "you should know this, it is part of you beliefs." Crickets again!
What we are observing from some family members is what DOC said, "it's the thing to do." Kind of like meeting your buddies for a beer every Friday night. It's a place to go and gives lonely people a place to go. I believe what they hear is like the Charlie Brown cartoon....wha wha wha. Nothing is sinking in (if they are listening at all). Crazy waste of time!!! SAD!!!!
i've had an email from a sister who tells me that out in field service this morning a long standing route call has told them she won't be taking any more magazines and doesn't want them calling on her again because she has heard about the jws child abuse scandals and cover ups.
she was quite angry with them and said your elders say there is nothing wrong but there is and it will all come out.. this is the first time anyone i know of has been challenged on the doorstep and they were absolutely shocked and also angry.
angry that the organization is not preparing them for dealing with this and for not being honest with the brothers about what is going on ie: lawsuits etc.. just thought i'd share that with you..
I believe this is going to happen more and more. JW's do not have a good reputation right now and it's getting worse. There will come a point that either WT will stop the door to door and cart witnessing due to cart crashing or just plain anger at the witnesses. Most of the JW's I know do not like confrontation and are ill prepared for the hard questions that are going to come their way. Karma is coming for WT. Great news!!!
so at the phd today with my wife and me, and in slowly getting to the heart of matters (like peeling an onion if you ask me), the dialogue in part went like this: .
phd: if it came down to it, would you take a bullet in the head instead of giving up membership in your organization?
wife: absolutely, i would die for my faith.
Saying it and doing it are two different things. Sometimes when people are actually faced with it, it's a different story.
We had an issue with the blood several years back. Our attitudes were quite different than what we thought IF it happened. When WE were actually personally affected, it was a whole new ballgame.
Just sayin.
so my cousin phoned and told me my jw sister was taken to hospital with chest pains and it may have been a slight heart attack or possibly she's starting with angina.
now as some of you know my sisters and brother have had little to do with me for 29 years.
we've met at funerals, or arranged them, but i just thought today what if she did die?
I really admire all of you that have been treated like crap, to reach out to those who have treated you so poorly. It says a lot about all of you. I would love to meet some of these wonderful people one day!
