I've read about that before. Fascinating isn't it? The really interesting aspect to theories about endosymbiosis, is that cooperation between species may play a greater role in evolution than was once thought.

the higher organism benefited from this, in that it recieved a huge enegy boost.
mitochondrial dna is passed down only by mothers, as the egg destroys that dna in the sperm.

Resurrection
by barbar inif a person is resurrected, are they really the same person?.
it is a bit difficult to explain this, but are they not a copy of the original person (all of the cells are new) with just the memory etc reinstalled?.
it seems to me that even if resurrection were real then it would not be the actual person who was resurrected but an image of them who thought, acted and remembered the same as the original.

I read in one of the publications that the person will essentially be the same person but since there will be no marriage of resurrected ones, males will be smooth like the Ken doll.

while i am not a born again christian, the teaching of jesus that we can remove guilt and be right with god just by believing it is done helped me out.
gal 3:11-13: consequently, it is clear that no one can ever win god's favor by trying to keep the jewish laws, because god has said that the only way we can be right in his sight is by faith.

The Gospels' Jesus was my way out of JWs. And afterwards he was tactful enough to vanish in the cloud of myth, tradition and literary history, instead of imposing himself as another guru. So I'll always keep a good memory of him.
Something very similar happened to me as well. Reading the Gospels by themselves, with a fresh eye, without any of the WTS's interpretation, really helped me. I wonder just how many witnesses actually read the Gospels, rather than always going over the society's publications and the Old Testament.

remember the extremely rare medical condition where a person being tortured can sweat blood that was cited as proof that the bible was true and how this should deepen our appreciation for the sacrifice of jesus?
well the footnote in the reference bible reveals that the earliest and best manuscripts of the nt do not have verses 43&44.

The pickiness witnesses displayed when it came to movies, especially movies with magical themes, used to drive me crazy. I've always loved fantasy, so this was a no small source of consternation for me when growing up. What really made me angry was when ultra-holy mothers would condemn a film when they barely knew anything about it. I wonder if other fundamentalist groups are that uptight...

Strangely enough, when I had my wisdom teeth pulled, my mouth wasn't all that sore afterwards. I don't know why, maybe I have less nerves in the back of my mouth or something...

I know how you feel DarkUncle. There was a time back when I was still a witness that I utterly hated God. However, time passes, you learn more, and things do start to look up again, even though your past hopes may have vanished (or rather, changed form).
