The ones who turn up as guests are almost always family members who were never in "the truth" but turn up to this once a year because it's the least they could do to keep their spouse/family happy.
Was me being there with my spouse that obvious?
this was the first memorial that i declined to do any work for the memorial.
i was assigned as a parking attendant after getting downgraded from doing the sound and had no intention of doing either task but i had to attend for my family and continuation of my fade.
i sat there last night listening to the talk and couldn't help but shake my head as my brain attempted to process the bs.

i have been following the jw chatter online about the letter writing that has been furiously undertaken by the jws around the world.
a global effort done on the command of the gb in ny.. several jws have mentioned the cost of mailing letters (and packages of letters, where allowed) to russia and the cost is substantial.
some jws have mailed dozens of letters.. the jw boast is that the russian postal system will be overwhelmed with letters.
So.....all of those letters my wife sent out a couple of days ago cost me a 10 spot!!!!
i was baptized when i was 14 years old.
i hadn't had any real relationship with a girl up to that point.
but when i started going to high school i learnt the joys of experimenting with girls, so i did not stay a faithful member of the congregation for long.
"Did you ejaculate"? ans. "Yes". "Where did you ejaculate"? ans. 'In her mouth". I almost lost it on that one
You've got to be kidding.....

"Did you put your hands below her shirt?
Did you kiss her exposed breasts?
Did you fondle her genitals? Did she fondle yours?"
These were all questions asked during my JC when I was 19. Good times.
I just can't imagine how anyone would put up with being questioned in this way?
this post may be disturbing and i apologize, but i'm just trying to find out if this is a practice the jw teaches.
i was taken advantage of by a guy claiming to be a jw preacher.
he took me to his house supposedly so i could give his daughter piano lessons, and then he basically forced himself on me while telling me he was in love with me and wanted to marry me.
The Bullshit is strong from this post. Makes sense to go on a forum full of strangers and talk about being raped rather than tell a friend and report it
**sniff****** ***sniff*****
Whew!!!!!

Does anybody else smell that.....
so i ended up going to the meeting yesterday.
i have been absent for almost 2 months.
my wife was also absent as long but mostly out of chance.
it's much harder to come up with a polite excuse ........ to terminate the visit when they're in your home. You can't make a vague claim of other plans or give a reason you need to excuse yourself and leave, you have to kick them out of your home............. having the visit at your home actually puts a fair amount of the power in their hands because it forces you to be an impolite and ungracious host if you want to control the length of the visit.
I guess this depends upon what type of relationship you want to have with them after the visit is over.
I remember a visit I had with a couple of elders who shepherd called upon my house one day, I suspect at the behest of my wife. The reason I think it was at the behest of my wife was that she intimated to me that the call would be for her, but left me in the room with them alone shortly after they arrived.
This was just after one of their assemblies where they were equating themselves with being the modern day Ark (IE Noah's Ark).
During the visit, they were trying to corner me on some asinine point about agreeing that salvation was only through association with the organization (WT Society) and that I would be a fool to not be a fully active member. Exasperated, I finally told them
"Look......we can sit here and discuss the Bible all you want, but, I will not have you guys attempt to corner or beat me over the head with it."
After a stunned silence from them, they hurriedly terminated the visit and left.
.....without even a handshake or a closing prayer.
i wish i had read this back when i was 18. it's an amazing take down of religious beliefs, the bible, and religion in general.
) a "reason"-able manner.take this quote, from near the beginning:.
when also i am told that a woman, called the virgin mary, said, or gave out, that she was with child without any cohabitation with a man, and that her betrothed husband, joseph, said that an angel told him so, i have a right to believe them or not: such a circumstance required a much stronger evidence than their bare word for it: but we have not even this; for neither joseph nor mary wrote any such matter themselves.
Was exposed to Paine's "Age of Reason" in an undergraduate English class.
'Age of Reason" should be required reading.
His take down of Christianity is Epic!!!
thanks.. no really, thank you.. you decided to drive down to la with your wife and kids to be with extended family and eat a great big meal on thanksgiving.
that's awesome.
no, really, i hope you had great thanksgiving.. then you drove back up here, and that's a good day's drive so you were pretty tired.
Wow.....
You took that pretty personal.....didn't you!!!
we have seen that the society falls back on the line "it is the victims right to approach the authorities" during all the abuse claims.. they use this excuse to try and defend the passive lack of action in failing to report suspected cases of abuse.. a comparison came to mind:.
if we came across a person lying in the street who says they were hit by a car, would we say "it is your absolute right to call the paramedics and police"?.
or would we take the initiative and call those authorities ourselves to help the person?.
Jehovahs-witnesses are trained to steer clear of any activity that there is not of a direct tangible benefit to the organization. You would think that they would be more than happy to turn over any suspicion of child molestation to the authorities, but that would keep a potential drone from being out there slogging their wares door to door.
This is just a convenient excuse for them to feel justified in doing nothing.
