Nothing but the Blood - Chapter 8 (Final)
by daniel-p in[this is the true story of my life.
i'm posting it in installments.
the final installment will include post-script-type thoughts, with acknowledgements to those who've helped me along these last two years, as well as those who've been an inspiration.

Is anybody else both fascinated and creeped out...
by Jewel in...by the flds brouhaha down in texas?
obviously the doctrine is way different, but there are so many similarities: the haunted look in so many eyes, the oppressively patriarchy, the lack of feeling, the use of fear and separation for control, the whole everyone-else-is-evil mentality.

I just watched a woman who "escaped" only because her mother took her children and fled. She is still wanting to get in touch with her family. There are hundreds of "lost boys" who are also shunned dumped on the streets in Southern Utah with no family or identities. Their are no birth records for them so they are literally invisible and trying to get aid.
I have talked to JW's who are enthralled by this unfolding. I wonder if the similarities make it through their mental filters....especially using terms like worldly and apostacy.

Just texted my dad. They have already combined all those meetings and hold them on Tuesday "so as to gear up for FS the rest of the week." But they are still full length as far as I know.

My parent's hall started having the book studies after the Sunday meeting about a month ago. This is weird timing. Wonder how they swung that one?

Do you hum?
by Layla33 ini do and sometimes i do it when i am happy, when i have had a good meal, when a friend is on the phone and they went to do something - it's my musical interlude.
i think some people hum without noticing it.
i also used to hum to my brother, it was our way of communiting when we were young and a game we played where we would hum a tune and then each of us would try to give a verse.

Ever since I was small. And if there isn't a catchy tune I'm stuck on, it always goes back to "Greensleeves." It plays in my head 24/7 and I'm never sick of it.

Don't mold them, unfold them.
Just out-love them. Love will ALWAYS win. Remind them you will love them no matter what life course they choose and that you can no long love them unconditionally as a JW parent would. You will always be there...no matter what. They can't beat that.

I went back to my Bible Studies and said to "nevermind" everything we had talked about. They smiled and said they hadn't really believed it anyway.

Missed college when you were younger? Here's a good solution!
by Awakened at Gilead inat my age i didn't want to spend the next 4-10 years going to college classes after work.
i have mentioned this in a few popsts but wanted to share this on a new thread so that everyone can find out how easy and cheap it can be to go to college.. i am studying online with cuny (city university of ny).
tuition is $2165 per semester if you take 4 or more classes.

Jehovahs Witnesses care for victims of child abuse RELEASE
by NotaNess ini'm sure this article has come up on the forum.
can any one give me information on the numbers quoted below, in respect to them being inaccurate, correct, or what the number is more like, when you add in jw's that aren't elders, where it seems like they fail to mention here.
it almost seems they try and minimalize the the amount of abuse by only speaking of the elders here.

What Was The Silliest "Offense" That You Were Counseled For?
by minimus inwhen i was a teenager, i was told by an elder that because i smiled a lot and was known for my good sense of humor, that i should come across as "more serious".
so before i was appointed a ms, while in my late teens, i transformed myself into a much more "serious" brother.. were you ever told that you needed to work on something that you knew was stoopid?.

A sister in our hall got counselled for putting a flower in her hair. "You look like a harlot".
My brother lost all privileges for filling a sister's coffee cup while on break from field service. Looked like an affair to them. 20 years later he's still a dub but refuses all positions offered to him. (related to me ya think?)
