  okay quantum: before we do battle with your so-called 'evidence' which are nothing more then unproven assertions --- it is only fair that people here see the ex-mormon board, and except for the label differences, like borg (jw) vs morg (lds) and things like that ... it is like reading a parallel universe of the ex-jw boards ... and the problems with child molestation (i.e.

  jeff anderson lawsuit against the mormon church in portland, oregon) and the abuse of women all sound like familiar themes ... and clearly give abundant evidence that the same symptoms must suggest the same causes .... check it out at: http://www.exmormon.org/boards/w-agora/w-agora.php3?site=exmobb&bn=exmobb_recovery.

  one ex-mormon fellow has even complained how he was inappropriately touched during his ordination ceremony ... by another man who rubbed up against him with an erection.. such experiences do not address your assertions, and are not intended to ... rather, these and many other ex-mormon experiences suggest that even if the bom, d&c or jod were somewhat historical as is the bible, that mormonism is still seriously deficient ... lacking so much that it does not hold up to being a worthwhile group to participate in ... and .... while many ex-jws are quite capable of debating with you ... i have invited ex-mormons to register here and see if they will deal with you ... they are in a far better position to address your claims and assertions and raise strong and credible concerns ... whereas we ex-jws can sit back and watch and see where it goes.

  Has anyone looked up religions started in the same time period as Mormonism? There are over 100 listed who all were inspired and base their beliefs on gold tablets, some were even read with the same stones that helped the "seer", some believed in multiple wives, and the list goes on. The only difference is, this one stuck. Some of the others lasted a few years and faded.

  I have also seen the hypocrisy in the convenience of "modern revelations" concerning letting blacks into the priesthood ( only after government got involved), the length of garments (only shortened after a vision on a hot summer night in Utah), and plural marriage ( again when the government intervened).

  OK, I am a native Utahn, born and raised and I have concluded:

  1. Along with the Smithsonian Institute who put a considerable amount of $ into looking for ruins, I want to see some evidence before investing any more interest into this faith.

  2. As a person who lives my life at peace with others to the best of my ability, according to your own doctrine, I will go to the highest kingdom of heaven. On the other hand, as a jack-Mormon (as they are called who only go along because of the family traditions or the social status), I would go to a lower kingdom. It doesn't take a betting person to see the odds here and which is the better bet.

  3. As a non-mormon, I get a 10% raise and Sundays off. An elderly woman locally whose parents were LDS but she never had chosen that path was recently approached by the little guys picking up the tithing at the first of the month (yes, they come to YOUR house!) and presented her with a bill for over $90,000. I cannot see God's hand in this.

  Don't get me wrong, all my friends locally are LDS and I was the only non-LDS to graduate from my school district. The ceremony was held in the tabernacle by the way. They have a strong sense of family that is admirable and are very hospitable, but I am afraid, they are as duped as the rank and file JW on the street. Looking for empathy or sympathizers here is spitting in the wind.

  Spare the rod and spoil the child?

  i saw a report on tv just now of how two baptist mininisters beat the living daylights out of some kid for not attending the correct bible class.

  the kid suffered kidney damage and the ministers have been arrested.

  this reminded me of how my jw brother used to take his boys out the back and beat them black and blue every time his patience ran out with them for not sitting still for 2+ hours.

  I actually had an elder pull me in the backroom for giving my 2 year old Cheerios out of my pocket! I was a regular pioneer/elder's wife who was rebellious enough to take the kids out on the grass and let them wiggle or put a blanket in the hallway at the conventions and let them be kids. They are very well-behaved as I disciplined through reason and patience and now see the same kids who got the beatings are now the ones doing the sneaking. I always laughed when the parent would say, "don't let me catch you doing whatever." That was the plan...don't get caught next time.

  BTW, after I told the "loving brother" that the 2 year old had low blood sugar and was underweight for her age and was not to go without food for extended periods her backed off but he had come with a whole briefcase full of bound volumes with bookmarks ready to use.

  I'm glad I am/was a bad mommy. Wish my mom had been. I went to the wooden spoon party too often and was told by her not to tell anyone of the bruises.

  I agree that we should remember the expense and time we put into field service, meetings, and conventions. We can't afford NOT to stand up now for what is right.

  we have a bigg artikel in km abot our wuie on how to treat them in diffrent situations, not so much new things, but they confirm this harder treatment on dfd, as we have 1981.. not so happy for this, i think it is a bigg misstake to dont take this occasion to change to some more loving wuie.i can not follow why they do like this perhaps they are draw this to the end of the lione, but who are take the punnish for this, if not the averge jw, who i think dont like this so very much.. so i can not follow who they think, perhaps we have wolfs among us, who hurt ther members.. .

  my civil suit was 1st filed in 1996; withdrawn and re-filed in 1998. the present pleadings standing are the nov. 2000 "second substitute complaint".

  the history of this case is extensive.

  I cannot offer any financial assistance at this time as I myself am in debt around $27,000 fighting them also.

  I can offer my story in an affidavit as I have a Protective Order against my ex (had 6 now) and he has been protected by the "good ol' boys" for years.

  Forgot My DFg Anniversary

  i can't believe i forgot to celebrate my disfellowshipping anniversay.

  they made the big announcement on june 8, 2000. i was so busy trying to find out when weekend magazine was going to air, that i just simply forgot.

  oh well, i guess this means i'm healed and could give a poopy.

  i can't find the words that would express how grateful i am for all the support, not only for all of you to back me on the dateline show but for my trial as well.

  i don't think i would have had the courage to go through the trauma if it wasn't for all your prayers and encouragement.

  dateline was a huge help for many and i know this because i have recieved quite a few calls, one from a current jdub who wants out for the safety of his 16 month old baby, i was so excited that he lifted the veil and saw it for the pure truth that it was.

  NEW JW POLICY POSTED!!!

  i don't know if anyone has posted on this already but there is a new press release at http://www.jw-media.org/releases/default.htm?content=bg_molestation.htm that defines the current jw policy and i believe it has taken a step in the right direction!.

  although they have not literally changed it to require reporting to the authorities in all states, they have finally put into print the following: "additionally, the victim may wish to report the matter to the authorities, and it is his or her absolute right to do so.".

  i am glad to see, straight from the wt, acknowledgement that the adults involved have every right to go to the police.
