My Real Calling / Mission In Life Is Here on J-W.com
by smiddy insometime during or after my conversion to jehovah witnesses 55 years ago , i felt it was my calling , duty , mission , to preach the word , and witness to as many people as i could about the watchtower`s interpretation of the bible that i believed was the truth.. and may i presume i am not alone there .i feel many if not all would have had similar thoughts.. without being presumptuous i think i have found my real calling in life , in doing what little i can to add my 2 cents worth in exposing this religion for what a fraud it actually is ,especially to the newbies , because most of us here have already found ttatt .. so witnessing to the truth about jehovah`s witnesses on this board , gives me much more pleasure than i ever had witnessing for the watchtower organization.
and this site / board has enabled me to do that , thank you simon ,ang, and company.. smiddy.

I agree smiddy. I dont "need" the board for myself anymore but i feel it would be wrong for me not to 'pay it forward' and share with others things that helped me cope when i first learned the truth about the truth. -

Preparing for Governing Body 3.0? Making older GB step down? (New September Watchtower)
by FusionTheism inwatchtower, study edition, september 2015, "are you reaching the stature that belongs to christ?":.
paragraph 6: the mature christian shows humility in that he recognizes that jehovahs ways and standards are always better than his own.
[footnote: for example, older, experienced brothers may be asked to step aside from certain responsibilities and to lend support to younger brothers as they take on those responsibilities.].

No gb memeber ever stepped down due to declining health or afe. Several have died in the infirmary of age related maladies and were still on the GB -

Im somewhat supprised at the 'how dare they appeal' sentiment. What else do you expect the org or any person or institution to do in the face of a damaging ruling that could potentially lead to more damaging verdicts...? Of course they are going to appeal and appeal every aspect on every single ground they can manufacture. Its what any corporation would do. Ot shpuld be absolutely no suprise amd frandly dosent ring as hypocritical to me, as much as i would like to see it that way. Its not personal. It's business. I do agree with the idea that could potentially backfrire and i hope to thor it does ;)

Revised New World Translation
by FusionTheism ini just wanted to put it out there that i am actually truly impressed by the revised nwt.
i think it's an awesome bible version.. the only issues i have are that it should only have "jehovah" in the new testament when quoting the old, and the alternate translation of john 1:1 in the footnote should be in the main text..

THIS IS WHAT WITNESSING HAS BEEN REDUCED TO IN 2015
by steve2 inthreads on the newer jw face of public "witnessing" have shared in common the astonishment that jws safely park themselves behind their literature trolleys and exercise incredibly little contact with passersby.
whether the poster is talking about europe or the united states or australia, descriptions here are the same.. literature stands are protective sheilds behind which jws huddle, talking to each other, sipping on their espressos, whilst the disinterested world passes by.
neither the jws nor the passersby catch each others eyes.

Its a bit deceiving, the appearance of the trolly people. The reality is only a select few get to stand at the carts, pionsneers approved by the CO. Most dubbies srill trudge from door to door in between coffee breaks. The 'work' is a joke in its totality, not just just the few who stand by a cart. -

Why did the org "forgive" KH mortgages?
by Magnum ini know this has been discussed, but i think it's good that topics like this get brought back up from time to time for the sake of newbies and lurkers, plus, i have a question (related at end of post).. the org brags about "forgiving" kh mortgages as if it's so loving and giving.
i put the word in quotation marks because most of us realize it wasn't forgiving anything.
the new arrangement should actually bring it far more money.. for example, suppose there are twenty congregations total.

To top it off the obvious is being overlooked: The money that was "loaned" to congregations was donated to the org by congregation to begin with. The org does not generate income. They have no money to lend.... So to sumerize congregations donate money to the org. The org "loans" it back to congregations to build a KH.... A kingdom hall the org itself OWNS lock stock and barrel! Its is the ultimate scam. -

It Is Official, Just as Predicted on this Site... Local Cong Donates all Monies on Deposit with You Know Who!
by RichardHaley inmy local cong just donated all money (4k +) on deposit with you know who to, you know who.
"since the society forgave all kingdom hall loans the boe felt it only appropriate to forgive the society of our loan to them.
" is exactly how it was presented to the r&f.

@listener- the current rumored structure is to be all donations sent to the branch, local LDC pays bills and of course local LDC is branch appointed and accountable. The rationale is if a congregation sends ALL money to the branch there is no '3 month reserve' clause to allow congregations to decide how much to keep. There is alao a feeling that many congregations "misuse funds" slyly, buying pioneer dinners, throwing congregation picnics etc etc. they also simply want ALL funds available immediatly instead of a trickle through the cingregation process. Again, its all a "plan" but it being discussed somewhat seriously... -

To richard and all... Some clarificarion is needed here... Its actually NOT official at all. This was the decision of one BOE, not an official org policy to send them all congregation funds.
The reason im clarifying is because at some point it is expected it WILL be made official. All funds will go to the branch and the branch will pay local bills (power, water etc), keeping the entire remainder for whatever purpose they wish. Hopefully when that happens it will wake some (although it wont be many) but to be clear this has not happened yet.
