  i have not meet all atheists, and it would be foolish for me to assume that all atheists, share the same prototypical view points.

  i am inclined to feel that this classifies the views of a large percentage of atheists.

  "atheism is, in a broad sense, the rejection of belief in the existence of deities.

  since geoffrey jackson's appearance before the australian royal commission on friday there has for some been an expressed feeling of anticlimax.

  it is as though he was given too much latitude to preach, to claim ignorance and to skirt questions.

  more to the point, as much as i myself thought i would never have expected to say this, gj actually came across as likeable and - don't throttle me please!

  There will be no need for seperate flock books or any updates at all. Current policy is to call the branch when child abuse is reported. The respective branchs will simply advise the ausies that reporting is manditory (if or when it is made so). Thats it.

  Using Governing Body Member Jackson Testimony To The Royal Commission, For A Defense Before A Judicial Committee Meeting

  i think that a person that is called before a judicial committee can use a recording of the trial and force the elder to view it because of jackson's statement to the commission and get off.

  i think mr jackson has said enough about people who wish to leave the witnesses as not being harassed, hunted down, or spied upon and such to get the elder off your back and give them a "good witness".. also to be highlighted is the fact that jackson has stated under oath that the governing body is willing to reexamine doctrine and policy in order to conform to the law,.

  i think many statements by gb jackson to the commission can be used by some one clever and thus escape the label of apostate and be unhindered to a large extent of speaking to others.. .

  You didnt listen to the exchange well enough. He was specifically speaking of faders not being chased down HOWEVER angus nailed him down on the idea of elders making "shepherding call" and finding some cause for a JC. Jackson admitted that such a committee would be formed even against a fader. That testimony would do zero to help in front of a body of elders determined to hang someone.

  I agree steve, jackson did come off well, much as on a smaller scale tomo3 did when cedars pranked called him. More than a few voices on this forum warned as much. You simply were not going to get a gotcha moment or even a satisfying grilling, although i did think the judge and AS did a good job disecting his nonsense.

  Here the simple reality though: as much as there was no real satisfaction from jackson being on the stand there will be no real satisfaction from the recomendations made by the comission. Its simply not going to change the org one iota. Stupid theories about female elderets doing investigations and some new level of transparency or warning the congregation about pedos are now and will remain apostate pipe dreams. It will not happen. The commission can recommend whatever it wants. The org will do as it wishes. The absolute most that will change is some form of mandatory reporting to authorties. Thats it. At most. No apologies. No money. No future protection for kids (beyond the manditory reporting which is positive).
