What freddo said, at least in my area. I always thought of it as “kobe”. No not the basketball player, the beef stock.

How do JWs pronounce COBE?
by Wild_Thing injust wondering.
when i was a witness, we had presiding overseer, and would say p-o for short.
do they spell it out when they say cobe or do they say it with as a word?

Are Beards becoming more acceptable due to decline in membership?
by UnshackleTheChains ini noticed a young brother with a beard being given more privelages within our hall.
when he first grew his beard, he lost his privelages.
but more and more recently he has been helping out a lot more.. the cobe is old school and a stickler for rules, but with the hall becoming more empty these days, and the need for young brothers, he seems to have relaxed on this particular watchtower/man made rule.

Lol its so comical to watch the gb over react to the most unnecessary things.
they dont care that the original ban came post russel or that the hippie movment that redemonized it was sixty years ago... they just know that beards have always been looked down on and always be 😂😂😂😂
as i travel the halls of power in dc (a lowly utility man mind you) EVERYONE seems to have a beard of some sort. The only exception being career polticians... hmm... i wonder if theres some sort of correlation...
what i find most hilarious is that instead of getting out in front of a small and insignificant issue they insist on being like “Rehoboam” the fictional biblical charater who followed the bad advise of his peers and decided to be more harsh than his father.
the current gb seem intent on being more harsh than the previous version. The problem for them is that on issues so stupid as beards young men just wont follow in the same droves as before. Its too easy to see jesus and every other man in the bible depicted with a beard and see thats its not gods rule but mens.
However i applaude tight pants and crew and hope they keep it up. The more douche they are the more people leave

If your goal was to make yourself feel better than it seems it worked.
If you cared about helping him you failed epically.
Judge accordingly

God is not the creator
by venus inevery theory (including darwin’s) primarily proves someone has to design a theory; every product primarily proves someone has to design it.
when neil armstrong and buzz aldrin landed on the moon it primarily proved intelligence of many people had to design that moon-mission.. 1) if every machine primarily proves someone designed it, then a much more complex, wonderful, and living machine with reproductive feature would mean the same: someone with corresponding ability, of higher energy, designed it because effect explains the cause just like harvest explains the sowing (whether you saw sowing or not).
science shows human body is like a complex machinery with many departments/systems (such as respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular/circulatory, renal/urinary, endocrine, nervous, musculoskeletal, integumentary/exocrine, lymphatic/immune, reproductive etc.

How could it be a diluting of standards when the bible commanded men to have beards? -

Moster, slim is very well versed in wt doctrine. He IS a jw. He just likes to be controversial and throws ‘challanges’ arbitrarily (as in asking for a simple quote that he easily could have found)... it keeps things interesting i suppose.
Please understand i participate in the forum for the exchange of ideas and am always happy to share, its just eyerollingly petty for slim to not put 2 seconds of typing into something he likely knows already. The whole ransom thing is a basic part of jw doctrine, so much so its part of their baptism interview questions.
Any mild irritation you read into my responses is entirely goodnatured and directed at someone who doing a little soft trolling himself ;)

Sigh... they have an answer (of course)
in a male dominated society adam was viewed as life giver. Adam screwed up so one perfect man could fix it and be life giver for all men (puke) thus jesus is called the last adam (puke again)
also nonbiblical jewish fairytales say adam had a wife before eve so it was believed the perfect woman was replaceable. The original creation, man (adam) was not.
All shit, but thats the wt answer and the jewish fairy tale answer
