@incognito- your earlier point regarding not being transparent on fincial status is something that i always take to mean they are better off than some hope. If they were really struggling they would be more transparent and use it to say ‘hey we need help, see!’. They dont because they know showing their cards would cause donations to drop since it would be apparent that they are ok.

Also dont take it personally when slim ignores all your logic. He just wants it so bad he has utterly convinced himself the wt is falling and nothing will change his mind. Dont stop trying (im not) but dont take it personally.

The watchtower does not have the resources

if you have a look at the december broadcast on jw tv they tell you that they wont be showing you a normal format for december but the 143rd event of gilead because the watchtower does not have the resources other wise to translate it many different lanuages.. with all the cuts the watchtower have made and are going to make you would have thought that they would have lots of resources.

Pepper, your translation caculations are rediculious. Do you honestly think it takes ONE person to translate a talk i to a particular language and that ONE person is located at walkill and can translate the whole gilead program in the snap of a finger?

You have absolutely zero concept as to what any sort of translating involves. It is a huge effort and takes a large investment of time. A single bilingual person CAN do it, but as a point of referance, it takes a si gle person about 4 hours to translate 20 min of cartoon from Japanese to english. 20 min of simple cartoon dialog. Now take that and extrapolate 3 or 4 hours of complex religious language that in many languages wont have exact words to match along with the need for exacting contextual meaning.

This looks very much like (yet again) more wishful thinking. You drastically underestimated the needed labor to make seem as if the org lacks something cheap and inexpensive. Epic failure.

Also slim, your estimate of a 1k videos seems rather short sighted. That would equate to 1k months (since they do one a month). At one a month that would be 83 years. Your on record as saying they are collapsing in 2 years. I call foul on that prediction.

i realise it's our imperfection but god's organization is not always open to 'outside the box' thinkers such as ourselves.

i've been researching dinosaurs and god's reason for not preserving these beasts beyond the flood of noah's day.

@jlol, dont take this thread as anything more than what it is: an obvious troll on theists who believe the dino’s lived until noah as well as a troll on atheists who jump at the theists. Its all in fun, and for once, it was actually pretty damn funny

It could have been a simple admission that translating a program, recorded a short time ago and with parts that were delivered extemporaneously from scripts that were individually prepared by the presenters, into dozens (or more) languages in a short period of time was beyond their capabilities.

or it means their collapsing RIGHT NOW THIS VERY INSTANT!!!!!!!!

We’ve gone round and round and nobody wants to budge from their position, be it imminent collapse or everything is fine. Im laying in bed next to a beautiful sleeping woman and it has dawned on me: i just cant give a damn anymore tonight.

Ok so a 50% reduction in membership over 10 years is your basic benchmark for a collapse. Fair enough. I would strongly argue against that being a disintegration, but a collapse is fair.

That said, did you note that the benchmark in your own definition moved, in just a few hours, from two years to ten? I still disagree that it will happen in either time frame but it highlights my basic core flaw with these predictions, no matter who may be making them: its all very mutable given which way the wind seems to be blowing in the eyes of the predictor. In some posts its months (yes slim you said months ... well... months ago) some posts its years some posts its decades.

Just admit it to yourself, if no else, slim... these predictions (earlier today 2 years now 10) arnt really based on what you percieve as facts. They are your hopes and dreams. Deep down you know the real truth about the truth... the org isnt going away in your or my lifetimes.

Slim, i would hope we both agree that it was you who used the words “collapse” and “disintegrate”. I can only go off your word choice in determining your meaning. If your suggesting that you were using a bit of hyperbole i can certainly accept and understand that as i too use exageration to make points at times..

that said, you did indeed use the words aforementioned as well as give the time frame of a year or two. So lets clarify... does that mean you would categorize a loss of 1% in two years as disintegration? A loss of 5%? The question isnt what i would define as collapse or disintegration, they arnt my words nor my belief. What would YOU define as such...?

I remain steadfastly on the record: the jw’s are not collapsing disintegrating or anything of the sort. They will plod along for a long long time, marginal baptisms, no real growth, just sort of maintaining what we see now, membership wise.

So on the record: what is your expectation, your belief that will meet your choice of wording
