  $5.5 Million to be transferred to World Wide Work from Assembly Hall fund

  a letter was read tonight in our kingdom hall that the money that the circuits in the indianapolis area had in savings to build a new assembly hall will now be transferred to the www to build kingdom halls in lands where they are needed and a new assembly hall for us will not be built.. we had a beautiful assembly hall near downtown indy that was paid for.

  it was sold a couple of years ago.

  we were promised a new assembly hall to be built in southern ohio near the indiana border but they can kiss that goodbye now.

  The “cult of personality” thing is genuine but consider the two examples: steve jobs pushed apple to great heights, in personal computing then cutting edge digital music and eventually making cell phones what they are today. Im not into hero worship but he was a hellva innovator.

  musk isnt my favorite guy individually but again the tech he is pushing is phenomenal. Just the electric drive motors on tesla cars hold incredible innovations in energy and have changed some of paradims in transportation, driven battery tech to become better etc etc...

  these guys have cult followings that no one “deserves” but they have earned legitimate respect in their fields.

  Apart from the fact that cost reduction is happening in general as time goes on and that NASA will be launching another, bigger, rocket shortly, it really does come down to it being "rockets that landed" as everything else has been done before and could already be done

  I dont disagree. The space shuttle was already reusable, the differance being the boosters had to be recovered. With the space x rockets they return to point of launch. Im also not sure if there is less refurbishing with the space x Boosters. The lift capacity of the falcon exceeds the shuttle by about 5k pounds, so considering its ablity to lift more and land its efficiency is considerably greater

  I agree, outta here, at least on general bolden. In the realm of revealing way to much about myself, i spoke to general bolden at length on this (we shared a common interest in motorcycles and one thing lead to another) and he was passionate about the shift to the private sector. Thats said, bush 100% started the move and ended the shuttle program (prematurely imho). I cant speak on president obamas views beyond the fact that he let general bolden push the agenda forward.

  "Just a rocket landed" folks, this is what happens when your mind is vandalized by Fox News.

  Really? Why be a douche and make this somehow political? Since, however, you want to be political it was a replican president who ended the shuttle program and pushed for the private sector to take up the cause of sending payloads into space. Your welcome.

  If, however, we can just enjoy the ingenuity and science, that was epic! When they (space x) finally got one to land the first time i watch it over and over... its so phenominal. The tech alone is worth pursuing and associated applications that come from it, no matter if we ever colonize mars or the moon or not.

  don't know if this is a global thing but i've just been told by a pimo member of my old congregation that a min servant has been given the task of destroying all old books/literature in the kh library prior to 1992.. could be the elders (or even one of them) on a mission to stamp out dissent as my ex-wife used the same reasoning to her elder dad that i used in my jc: rutherfords books containing failed predictions.. anyone else heared anything?.

  the ms who's been given the task is a company man.

  no hope of him keeping them or selling them on ebay.. they have some russell books in that library too.

  Poor bobby.... the bible never said nor used nor implied “overlapping” generations. It used the word generation, singular. In the first centery the time between jesus words and the event he refered to, the destruction of jerusalem, was a mere 30 years. A generation.

  Also undermining your redilious argument is the words of the wt bible amd tract society itself which taught for over 100 years that a generarion didnt overlap. They obly changed their minds when the generation that saw the events of 1914 died and they had to make something new up.

  Its sad bobby that you have to do so much in the way of mental gymnastics to make things work as a witness...

  based on legal arguments that revolve around violations of several articles of the portuguese constitution, and of the law of religious freedom, a petition to the portuguese parliament has been set in motion to extinguish the legal entity that represents the jehovah's witness in portugal and remove this community from the national register of recognized religions protected by law.

  the petition does not seek to ban the jehovah's witness as a whole in the country.

  the petition denounces the institutional policy of shunning former members as a violation of basic human rights and psychological torture, and asks the portuguese legislators and judicial authorities to take action to stop this abuse, and suspend legal recognition to the branch office entity until the policies of shunning are changed.

  Lol its a semantic game, gorby. ALL sins that could lead to a JC are investigated no matter how many witnesses. INVESTIGATED just means “hey bro perv did you do this?” If he says no then there is no JC. Nothing has changed.
