$5.5 Million to be transferred to World Wide Work from Assembly Hall fund
by Sour Grapes ina letter was read tonight in our kingdom hall that the money that the circuits in the indianapolis area had in savings to build a new assembly hall will now be transferred to the www to build kingdom halls in lands where they are needed and a new assembly hall for us will not be built.. we had a beautiful assembly hall near downtown indy that was paid for.
it was sold a couple of years ago.
we were promised a new assembly hall to be built in southern ohio near the indiana border but they can kiss that goodbye now.

Db, im hesitant to take this as a symptom of some larger problem without more details.
These decisions are never made by the branch, as much as people want to make them such. They are local first. This was co’s and the ldc. The question is why they decided to do this. Whats the alternative plan. Is there another assembly hall with avaliable capacity and some company men on the ldc or some up and comming co’s decided to try and shine by sending the money to the branch?
Theres more details needed to accurately assess the situation. If the org were in imminent danger a mere 5 mill dosent fix it. They have HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS from the sale of brooklyn property. Everyone relax and think for a minute.

Engaged Couples Living Together
by ILewis inmy question is this.
is it wrong for a jehovah's witness to allow an unmarried couple to live together under their roof?
same room, same bed, they are allowing full on cohabitation.

Really slim? Im somehow showing “insularity of conversation” because an obvious troll is obvious? Im the first person to engage debate and accept that there lots views other than mine.
Lets look at the facts, shall we.... someone went out of their way to find this forum, join it, and then create a post that makes some random ass situation where they (the brand new poster who isnt a jw) are renting a room from someone who they somehow know is a jw, who made promises to only rent other rooms to same sex persons and no couples and then after having done that rents a room to someone who a bf but also a baby with another person and now they want to know if is a df’ing offense and if theres evil spirits in the house.
Slim, ive long thought your many flip flops on the orgs future were just a small time troll and you liked the debate and ultimatetly... thats cool. I do too. But this just launchs you into to one of two categories.. either this is your post under a different user name and your the biggest troll of all and sitting in your cave laughing that people are actually responding to this ludicrous soap opera daytime tv impossible to follow drama or you are the single most gullible person to ever walk the face of the earth.
Im going with troll.

Dead Wrong (A Tolerance for Ambiguity)
by TerryWalstrom inwhat is your level of tolerance for ambiguity?.
ambiguity is a clunky, uncomfortable word, imho.. .
ambiguity means "open to more than one interpretation".

Falcon Heavy
by Coded Logic inthe falcon heavy is set to launch today.
if successful, it will become the most powerful rocket in use (twice as powerful as the delta heavy).. as it's the very first attempt, elon musk has said he thinks there's a 50/50 chance of it not blowing up.
so should be interesting.

The “cult of personality” thing is genuine but consider the two examples: steve jobs pushed apple to great heights, in personal computing then cutting edge digital music and eventually making cell phones what they are today. Im not into hero worship but he was a hellva innovator.
musk isnt my favorite guy individually but again the tech he is pushing is phenomenal. Just the electric drive motors on tesla cars hold incredible innovations in energy and have changed some of paradims in transportation, driven battery tech to become better etc etc...
these guys have cult followings that no one “deserves” but they have earned legitimate respect in their fields.

Apart from the fact that cost reduction is happening in general as time goes on and that NASA will be launching another, bigger, rocket shortly, it really does come down to it being "rockets that landed" as everything else has been done before and could already be done
I dont disagree. The space shuttle was already reusable, the differance being the boosters had to be recovered. With the space x rockets they return to point of launch. Im also not sure if there is less refurbishing with the space x Boosters. The lift capacity of the falcon exceeds the shuttle by about 5k pounds, so considering its ablity to lift more and land its efficiency is considerably greater

I agree, outta here, at least on general bolden. In the realm of revealing way to much about myself, i spoke to general bolden at length on this (we shared a common interest in motorcycles and one thing lead to another) and he was passionate about the shift to the private sector. Thats said, bush 100% started the move and ended the shuttle program (prematurely imho). I cant speak on president obamas views beyond the fact that he let general bolden push the agenda forward.

Fair enough, logic, but that seemed more like a response to you calling him an idiot not simon viewing the space program through a political lense. In either case you and i agree the falcon and related tech is pretty damned awesome
