I have a question: Is there a standard definition of what makes one a "gun nut"?
precisely why i declined to address the OP

And please remember that guns - when used as a weapon - are inherently an offensive weapon. Not a defensive one.
If you are refering to use in the commission of crimes you are course correct. If you are refering to use in home defense (as the context of your remarks imply) you are unbelievably ignorant as to the word “offensive” or purposefully perverting it to push your nazi/leftist gun confiscation agenda.
Molon labe
based on legal arguments that revolve around violations of several articles of the portuguese constitution, and of the law of religious freedom, a petition to the portuguese parliament has been set in motion to extinguish the legal entity that represents the jehovah's witness in portugal and remove this community from the national register of recognized religions protected by law.
the petition does not seek to ban the jehovah's witness as a whole in the country.
the petition denounces the institutional policy of shunning former members as a violation of basic human rights and psychological torture, and asks the portuguese legislators and judicial authorities to take action to stop this abuse, and suspend legal recognition to the branch office entity until the policies of shunning are changed.
Then, with 1000 signatures, the petition can not be dismissed on the basis of inadmissibility and the petitioner must be given an audience at the parliament to present the case. The petition also gets published in the official "Diário da República" paper, where all the laws are also published.
I see... so, and im just asking, what if you started a petition to ban the word “cucumber” and got 1000 people to sign onto that... whats the next step? Is there no means by which parliament could say “this is rediculious and we aren't wasting time on it”? They would have to hear you out on the subject of banning the word cucumber? And then, after giving opportunity to speak on banning the word cucumber, am i correct in understanding that they are not obligated to take any action? Again, just curious...
so i saw vander posted a pic of himself on his bike and recently pm’d with another member who rides (i will let him speak for himself if he wishes) and it seems like a thing for some of us, so... whatcha got?

1/4 of the goal of 1.000 has been reached.
Out of curiosity, then what?
i am sitting here watching my pioneering wife get service time ‘writing letters’ to not-at-homes.
she has a long list of names and addressees where the jws in field service never got anyone home.
the letter is simply a word for word copy, handwritten on note paper, then sent in the usmail.
And to continue the parallel the distinction (red headed league) was made arbitrarily based on a physical characteristic. Jws make an arbitrary distinction amongst themselves based on how much time one spends proselytizing. They even think they are different just because they are jw’s. When you step back and look it is indeed as ludicrous as a red headed league.

Crazyguy, totally agree ;) the cult frowned it (locally at least) but once i was an elder it just dawned on me that it nobody really cared and it was stupid to not do something i enjoyed. You gotta live. What did you get?
Neverjw, i would never look down on a shadow! My first bike was a shadow, a 1984 that i rehabbed in 2000. Rode it till it got too slow for me and i bet someone else is still ridding it.
