Things you didn't expect to like...
by sparrowdown instuff you never expected you would do or enjoy doing as a non-witness.... researching - always thought i hated study and reading turns out it was just wt literature i hated studying and reading.
having political opinions and just having opinons and beliefs that are not set in stone and that i am free to assess, review and adjust as i become more aware of imformation .
droping the f-bomb every now and again to make a point feels surprisingly good but that may just be post-religious rebellion that wears off... eventually.

. I worked for two and a half years to catch that guy. I finally caught him. Oh, and he is one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In fact, the congregation in Mexico assisted in hindering his apprehension as did his Witness parents here in the U.S. He just pleaded guilty an in now on his way to prison.
hell yea!
No. I do dabble in some Odinism I prefer the outlook on life presented by the Norse gods. The whole concept of sin and imperfection is nothing less than self-loathing. Odinism teaches that men are created perfect and capable of bring praise to the gods through deeds of nobel bravery. I truly despise Christianity as a whole.
A man after my own heart.
Glad you took the time to share :)

Action Music (in movies) in the past VS the present
by TerryWalstrom inunderstanding action musicin the past vs the present______.
in the golden and silver ages of hollywood, composers with classical, romantic era training created action music out of thematic (tuneful) motifs.
these catchy 'tunes' were used as 'bricks' whilst the orchestral techniques of arranging and orchestration were the 'mortar' binding and building the overall structure towering above mere image+sound effects.the result gave an audience something i will call "an intellectual access" to onscreen "meaning" in the story.what's that?a "tune" is an organizing principle.a tune has a beginning, middle, and end.a tune "tells" us something.what remains is "the way it is spoken.

Nephew’s JW Fiancée Begins Conversion to Judaism Due to Passover Date
by Rabbi Midge init’s been a while since i posted, but for those who remember, i came on here to get some information about jehovah’s witnesses because i have a nephew who was getting engaged to a girl who was a jehovah’s witness and, along with some other sites, i was recommended this one.. since then we’ve been busy with passover and jehovah’s witnesses have had something they call the memorial of christ’s death (i believe i have that right).
this clashing of the two observances apparently did more for this girl than anything else i ever saw in our months of conversations with her.. respectfully, jews do not proselytize.
these are people who, of their own desire, “join the tribe” after some years of study and practice--something this girl has just begun to do.

Let me guess:
I have shut off my email connection with this site. I cannot read your further replies to me, nor will I. I am not coming back to post ever again or read any further replies because you people are not tolerant and some are just having sport with my words. You judge all religion by your limited experience with the Jehovah's Witnesses, and so Jews get the same treatment too.
I am sure ego will keep some of you answering back to me in further replies, but I won't be reading. That will show how badly and ridiculously ego has overtaken some of you. Who are you replying to? Not me. I am leaving, not in a huff, but because apparently some Jehovah's Witnesses are just as hard to deal with in and outside their religion. And the world doesn't like Jehovah's Witnesses,So this time your really really really leaving... right?

interview with an apostate- morpheus
by _Morpheus inwhen i saw simons thread and the "interview" series of threads that came from it i really enjoyed reading the life stories of those that shared.
a bump for newer people seems like a good idea and i figured i would add mine as well.
again, thanks to simon for the concept of a guided interview thread and the template.. tell us a little about yourself and your family.. hmmm... easy question, hard answer.

😂😂 well played nick . Well played.
@humbled- yea i remember all to well as a faithful jw thinking all apostates were raving lunatics and you only need to see one or two bad examples to reinforce it and it becomes written in stone.
I would say that the reality is most who choose to leave are far from the odd ball raving loon you may see. We left for a principled reason. Be it ever changing doctrine in my case, or child abuse or the pharisaical rules or anyone of the dozens of reason people have cited, there is almost always a well thought out reason. The price for leaving is high and few pay it out of some mental imbalance or the oportunity to foaming at the mouth apostates. The org refuses to let anyone have a voice and they are bleeding people as a result.

Simon, i wont provoke anything more i just found it hilarious that she has now three times stormed off in a huff vowing to not come back, the when she does she has some wild story about someone “calling” her to come make a post on the forum... she had to say it was a phone call because she claimed to be shutting down the email associated with this forum in the post i quoted above.
And you nailed it when you said if someone dosent agree they are persecuting her.
I will leave it alone from here out, its not the point of the thread anyway... honestly, for whatever its worth, i enjoyed your thoughts on the book Jonah, midge. I never considered it in the light you suggested but it makes a certain sense.
*edit* just followed simons link.... midge has turned out to be a genuine troll. Alas!

Oh my we have a new poster... welcome rabbi midge! We had a poster who used a very similar name and avatar, but she left, forever, or so she said.
