I woke up this morning and decided to see how far the crazy train had gotten... im pleasantly surprised that no one has claimed they know of one such assassination and cant believe anyone would doubt them!

Oh stillin.... all i see on this thread are fools so desperate to see the downfall of a minor american based religion they will grasp at any straw.

As i said, everything dies. Stars. Galaxies. The very universe itself will one day collapse in on itself. The wtb&s society is no different. It absolutely will collapse, one day. Just not soon. All of your dreams otherwise dosent change the fact that there are 8,457,107 cult members.

Slims claims about over inflated numbers are, as most of his claims are, the pipe dreams of a man who sees what he want to see. There are probably many more who believe most of the cults brand of crazy. Yes cong secretaries make up time for people. I did.... as long as someone was showing up for meetings. What nobody does is make up time for people who are never at meetings. Thats insane. You would be caught quickly at that game. If you took actual meeting attendance as the measure of membership (what most religions do) there would be more like 10-12 million witnesses. They get around 16 million to come to their reject jesus ceremony.

So far i am 100% correct and slim is dead ass wrong. Woke up, the org is still here. Im betting i will be right tomorrow as well.

Also also, i noted no one has yet accepted my challange and even theorized what piece of information could meet gorbys ridiculous standard of being able to bring the org down... for all the cock sure remarks nobody can, using their wildest apostate imaginations, dream up a piece of information capable of bring the org down.

By all means, keep the crazy train rolling. Its a source of amusement... and a little shame

Lol oh brother ... yes you have argued that and many have pointed out how rediculious it is. Cut them up any way you want. Congregation number is arbitrary and ephemeral. It means nothing. Total pubs (membership) is the ONLY number that counts. Congregations mean nothing. Deep down you know this but it gives you something to point to so you cling to it... im not going to lead the sanity charge on this today. Tilting at that windmill will have to fall to someone else today.

Drawing moral equivalencies between the blood policy and what gorby describes clouds the issue and obsecures the base line question.

Gorby is asking if they would plan and commit a cold blooded murder to cover-up some “information”. There is no information conceivable that would bring the cult down. Make somthing up and lets play the scenario out.... not only is the concept of some single piece of information that brings the org down silly, to suggest they would commit murder over it is beyond silly.

The blood policy is convincing someone to kill themself over a religious belief. Thats been happening since the dawn of time. alahu akbar and all that.

Its a false comparison and, at the risk of repeating myself, when we give credence to this sort of stupid we devalue all real criticisms of the org.

Of course your free to ask, gorby. Im also free to point out how insane it is to consider the org planning and following through on a cold blooded murder over some imaginary piece of information that could ruin them. Its ridiculous. Someone suggested a month or so ago that the gb may assassinate those who claim to be annointed. That is also stupid and beyond the pale moronic. These things must be called what they are if the real discussions are to have any validity.

Just because an organisation has survived problems in the past doesn’t mean it will survive problems in the future. That’s illogical. It’s like saying that because I survived measles as a child, therefore I won’t die of another illness tomorrow. It just doesn’t follow.

Terrible illustration. My point could well be expressed as “they survived chicken pox once and will do so again”.... but your illustration has no correlation.

Where history is relevant is looking for trends and comparisons. On this front JWs resemble other organisations that have collapsed and many longstanding trends indicate they are in deep trouble. The fact that they may have survived this or other crisis or scandal decades ago is irrelevant to the current situation.

sigh... slim, again, i asked for comparable examples. You offered none. There are none. Your dead wrong about them ‘being in decline’ overall. They claim 8 million members and that isnt shrinking. Show me where membership is declining. All you can point to is a slowing down in growth. Hate to break it to you but growth is still growth. We can play games with ‘adjusted for population growth and adjusted for net births and deaths’ etc etc but the fact is they are still slowly growing. More members today than yesterday.

That isnt decline.

Again, i never said they are invulnerable, Your setting up a strawman. They could fall apart by 5pm est today. The earth could crash into the sun at 4:59 est today. Im saying neither is happening today. Both will happen eventually, but not in our life time.

Thats the differance between us slim. You want them to fail so badly you see whatever you need to and wish it so much you believe it has already happened or will happen soon, depending on what day it is... i believe they will fall as all organizations and institutions and governments and civilizations do... one day. Just not soon.

Slim one, i can answer in a single word- History. The wt has more than 100 years of history on its side. 100 years of being wrong. 100 years of bad predictions. 100 years of claiming absolute truth while constantly changing “truth”. Imprisonment, bans, bad press, leadership changes, on and on and on... the cult continues. Its not impervious, no institution is, but show me a church that failed after having at least 100 years of success? I cant think of any, at least not easily. They arnt going away.

History says they plod on. Prove me wrong.

It didnt bring the org down. Very few cared then and even fewer now know or care.

The org didnt kill anyone. They payed a few people off, including the pedo, and life went on.

1) there is no secret, no tidbit, no nugget, no piece of information anywhere that would ever bring the cult down. Period. It dosent exist. You do know there was a pedo on the gb...? The org is still here. It. Wont. Happen. That information does not now nor will ever exist. The whole premise is flawed.

R.I.P Margot Kidder { Lois Lane} 1948-2018

i was saddened to hear this ,she was only 69 yrs old and i thought she played a great lois lane in the superman movie.. in her life she obviously had issues to deal with and not the best of outcomes sometimes .. r.i.p.

I have always enjoyed superhero movies.

My entire life.

And THAT movie is why. Christpher reeve WAS superman. Margot kidder WAS lois lane. No matter how great some of these current marvel movies are (and some of them are great) nothing will compare to that first superman. Lois wasnt just some passing love interest. She was what made the man of steel human. It was his attachment to her that made everything else work and the chemistry between kidder and reeve made the on screen interaction superb. Neither of them really ever saw greatness beyond superman 1&2 but those performances were indeed great!
