by blownaway inthe bank that supplies my credit card in conjunction with the nra dropped the nra association.
lol i charged a life time membership with the nra and cut the card up and told them to pound sand.
don't bother with the "they will hit your credit" i have never in my 56 years of life used a bank for a home loan.

The "Whole World" was flooded??
by stuckinarut2 inso, jehovah's witnesses and many other biblical literalists think that the "whole world" was flooded during noahs day.. they take the "accounts" in genesis literally.
so that means that areas as far away as australia, russia, argentina, greenland, antarctica were all visited by noah and his family to gather animals and preach before it happened right??
they then took everything back to the middle east to board the ark...uh huh.... yet, the same expression in the bible for the "whole world" is also used in the account about the "worldwide famine" in josephs day!

Well, bible literalists have to accept the concept of Pangea, the super continent. Animals from all over come and during the flood it breaks up... dosent make the story better or more logical, mind you, but thats their explanation.

I saw The Last Jedi yesterday ... spoilers!
by LoveUniHateExams inyeah i saw ep 8 tlj yesterday.. first off, the special effects - a combination of cgi and practical - are fantastic, although with a budget of $200 million i expect them to be.. there are many issues i have with this movie and here's one: leia flying through space, i mean, wtf?!.
yes, we know leia is luke's brother and so has some force-sensitivity - she talked telepathically to luke in the empire strikes back.. apart from that, she's never really used any abilities she may have or been taught the ways of the force ... and now she's flying through space!
xd.

Special Seating at the Convention
by mann377 inhas anyone noticed at the convention that there is special reserved seating?
the convention that i attended (to keep peace in the family) had seating in the suites of the arena.
all arenas, stadiums etc.

Sigh.... no its not “ticketed” as such. Its used by dubby convention staff for their families. The department heads use them. So whoever is heading up the attendants, who ever is chairman, the bethel speakers etc etc.... this dosent mean its not a case “some are more equal than others” as it clearly is, but its not being sold. Its being given those who work for free or have kissed enough ass to rise up in the ranks.
I always HATED that, especially when i was elder. I argued every year that nobody should be granted special privileges just because they were working, it was all volunteer, everyone donated to keep the lights on and rent the facility and so on.... i always proposed letting the elderly or infirm use them. It seemed to me that their age and years of faithfulness should have entitled them to a small token of appreciation. And every year a few agreed... but not enough. Guess who didnt? The people who would have lost their special sky boxs and had to sit with the riff raff in the regular seats.

TFA is derivative of A New HopE
Derivative? You are far too kind. Its an exact copy, from the villian being vaders grandson to the mcguffin of a planet sized weapon. Whats worse, not only is it an attempt to copy an original and inspired movie, it does it clumsily and in such a sloppy way one is driven to madness trying to find any redeming quality.
My honest assesment, as someone who grew up loving the original and empire, is that the entire franchise has reeked since the ewoks defeated the empire. There were a few bright moments scattered in the prequals (the light saber fight with maul, anikin and obiwans duel on mustafar) but one has to physically search for highlights amongst the floating dung soup to find them. Its not worth the effort.

Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Baker Who Refused to Bake Cake for Gay Couple
by Simon inseems like such an obviously correct decision to overturn the previous overreach - it should never have been necessary to go to the supreme court but happened because the rights of the religious were being ignored.. as the fundamental level, no one should be able to compel you to work for them or to provide services that go against your beliefs, and certainly not have the government be able to force you to comply.. if this was allowed there would be so many unreconcilable situations that would clog up courts over nonsense.. i also have little patience for these activists that intentionally look to be offended.
it really doesn't do their cause any good to go round looking to make trouble for people.
it's also misguided because it ends up strengthening religious rights over effectively stupid issues.. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/04/us/politics/supreme-court-sides-with-baker-who-turned-away-gay-couple.html.

For the record, I think it was wrong for sanders not to have been served regardless of her political beliefs. However, this isn’t the same issue.
I can respect your position because it is consistant. The silent crowd who resfuses to speak... well if it wernt for double standards they would have no standards at all.
And i agree that it is not the same issue. At all. The baker didn't want to support something he was morally opposed to. Sarah sanders and her family were simply eating at restaurant along with a random cross sample of society in that area. No support or approval of her job were implied.
In the end, the red hen will lose buissness from some and maybe gain from others. People will vote with their wallets, for and against. Sanders and her family wont starve. Im more interested in flipper and rest of the crowd who cry over a gay couple who purposely targeted a business to cause them trouble and who very easily could have gone elsewhere and seeing if they cry the same tears over sanders and her family who, in the end, had to go elsewhere.

Dont confuse my “thank god this isnt europe” for anything other a general prayer of thanks.
It varies from state to state. It is in fact illegal in washington DC to discriminate based political affiliation.
However, i didnt ask about legality. I asked if you took the same position based on political party that you did when it was sexual orientation.

So, im bumping this to solicit peoples reactions on “the red hen” refusal to serve sara sanders based on who she works for....
do you feel as strongly? Do you feel that gay people should have cakes baked but people who have certain political views shouldnt be served?
Does it matter that sanders wasnt discussing her views, she was simply trying to eat dinner? Just wondering if the left will be consistant
