Favourite female heroes in film ...

... well, obviously not rey (daisy ridley) from the latest star wars films.

she's a complete mary sue.

but, before hollywood tried to force sjw propaganda down our throats, there were lots of powerful, legit female characters in film.. here are some of my favourites .... ripley (sigourney weaver): i though this character was great.

I will give you another jodi foster female lead that was great: sommersby. Set just after the american civil war it wasnt a time when women would have been viewed with the equality of today, but she played a very strong heroine. Warning: it is a love story, not an action flic, so viewer be ware.

i'm an atheist as i do not see any evidence for the existance of a god.

i encourage critical thinking in everyone and am ready to debate anyone on whether or not there is a god and what that god might be like.

Female JW parking "attendants"

i was shocked recently to see on social media a couple pictures of jw sisters at a convention working as parking "attendants".

i put that title in quotation marks because they still don't get the official attendant badge like the male parking attendants do, only the reflective vest.

has anybody else heard of this .

Thats definitely a violation of the law and was in 2014. They probably had designated handicapped parking somewhere, even if it wasnt the spaces the stadium had designated. Id also bet it wasnt marked very well and was easy to miss. Id also bet nobody spoke up and offered to point you in the right direction... often times that information was on the maps sent to the congregations in advance but wasnt disseminated very well. No excuses, that shows the utter failure of the “parking attendants” to not point you in the right direction. As the meme world would say, “you had one job”

Well, you drew a distinction thats important. In the case of snake handlers and the christain scientists, they make claims of physical protection. The snake handlers fancy themselves after paul of the bible who bitten but survived without harm and the CS... well they are a special kooky, but make claims of healing and protection because illness is an illusion and prayer will heal all.

the difference is, jw’s advocate all sorts of treatment but freely admit you may well die. The stick behind the words for them is that you may die in this life but you will be resurrected for your faithfulness. Its the fine print that will always save them. They admit in every publication (blood brochure and various study publications) that you may well die for refusing blood. And thats the differance. They tell you (fine print as it may be) that you COULD die. The CS and the snake handlers make outrageous claims of protection.

The core issue will always be personal responsibility. If a doctor misrepresents risks or benefits, they were legal authorities on the matter. They were obligated to offer the best advise as doctors.

jw’s dont claim any medical advice for the sake of health. They frame it all as “spritual” advise, up to and including saying that not taking blood may kill you in this life but you will brought back in the next. You cant disprove that. Its up to us as individuals to weigh the spritual vs physical. The courts wont interfer in that... and thus it becomes our personal responsiblity.

those of you who own glock pistols know that it takes a bit of know-how or work to open a glock magazine for cleaning, or for adding a magazine extension to increase round capacity.

the reason why glock chose this method of retaining is to prevent accidental release of the magazine springs and cartridges in case they are dropped.

the military and law enforcement agencies appreciate this system more than the average joe.

My initial reaction to this thread was 'they would probably do a better job'

My reaction, for years, is that its a totally unnecessary job. People park every day without someone pointing... its amazing

Wow, interesting topic and some good nominees!

I will echo a few: ripley (in aliens 1&2), princes leia is an all time great and especially so in the original sw. i also was going to nominate trinity (td beat me to it) and furiosa (scotsman got that one).

I have another one that im supprised no one mentioned: “the bride” aka Beatrix Kiddo, uma Thurman in kill bill. She absolutely rocked both movies, fought anyone who stood in her way and was reunited with her daughter. She was simply incredible.

another one: Michelle Yeoh who played Shu Lien in “crouching tiger, hidden dragon”. She was PHENOMENAL! She was tough and a true bad ass the whole movie but showed incredible insight in to the mind of a troubled young lady, trying to warn her away from a seemingly glamours life that wasnt what it appeared to be. She also played a great ‘love denied’ aspect with the male lead. Just incredible.

They were doing it in virgina for the past 3 or 4 years. The women folk were helping with drop offs mostly. Sad times for the org when the men figure out that extra work is just extra work.
