Mmm, no argument from me. Its very targeted and very specific to jones who many credit with getting trump elected (not accurate, in my view). This is clearly nonsense and they cant back it up or apply it consistantly... but that dosent change my view. Its their right. And its the right of those who dont agree to refuse to do business with them.

Alex Jones, Infowars Ban on Youtube, FB and other platforms
by pleaseresearch inwhat are you thoughts on this?.
i find this alarming because jones was very outspoken and had great guests on discussing topics most other media outlets wouldn't go near.. the fact that many have restricted him access to their medium what does this say on our freedoms of speech?.

Yes, they are private companies but it seems they got together and decided to take this action collectively in response to the desire of elected officials.
Yep, kinda seems like collusion...
This is different than if a company just decided to ban someone because they violated site policy.
no it isnt, fortunately. Business have an absolute right to make those decisions and we as customers have the right to complain and take our business elsewhere. The political right owns talk radio... should radio stations be forced to give air time to left leaning hosts, even if the shows are unpopular and dont make money? I say no way. If Twitter and fb become unfriendly to so called conservative or right leaning voices then those users will leave. Thats freedom my friend. I would never trade it.

Newboy is a former bethelite and has written a soon to be published book on his experiances. This thread is a good start
https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5466622169972736/introduction-chapter-1-new-boy-inside-look-world-headquarters-jehovahs-witnesses
He apparently called today to speak to old friends and related the experiances above.

Discussing the constitution with regard to twitter, fb, apple podcast hosting etc, is pointless. The first amendment has NOTHING to do with private platforms, be it newspapers or modern tech portals.
That said, i wouldnt ever want any voice banned, even if it was commies.
Theres a huge difference, btw, between banning trolls and banning ideas you personally dont like. Trolls who show up and drop a few random curse words or show up and spam the forum with advertising are easy bans. Personally, i wouldnt want so called jw apologists banned. Let them speak and let us retort. Im in favor of debating ideas passionately, even stupid ass concepts like flat earth.
Banning jones is a huge mistake.

When i saw the thread tittle i couldnt help but roll my eyes, another clown calls bethel and wants to cry foul when some operator wont confess that the gb keep goats chained up their room for sexual abuse....
then i realized it was you and i quickly decided to read the thread since you are reasonable and actually KNOW how bethel works...
so, my preamble aside, its sad to realize how much and how long some people have dedicated, and for nothing. It really comes home in a case like you cited where you call old friends and they are “out of it”, as you describe. I look back and see how i was on that path, although bethel itself showed me how bad an idea a career there was... still looking forward to the book, btw :)

A very dangerous thing happen to us two weeks ago. It could have meant our life.
by Still Totally ADD intwo weeks ago mrs. add and myself was driving home from shopping on a side street when we came upon a man laying on his back with his arms spread out in a t formation.
with no one in site we pulled over our van to help this person.
mrs.add went for her phone to call 911 and i got out of the van to see what i could do.

Dont kick yourself, it has NOTHING to do with a jw upbringing. The reason it works is because many (most?) people want to help in an emergency or situation of perceived danger to someone else.

Let me add another variable.. its become a ploy for people to feign injury to draw in someone willing to help. They have even used infant car seats on the road side to draw people in... if it dosent seem right, if it feels weird, hang back and call the police.

Stats just out: JWs in Wales decline (-3.4%) - COs primed for zero baptisms!
by Darth FayDehr infigures from that latest 2-weekend convention in caridff (wales) reveal jw “growth” now in decline.
baptisms are discouragingly low (21, combined), and circuit overseers have been primed to deal with assemblies where there are no baptisms; see these leaked 2018 instructions:.

In the "Wales online" they interviewed some particularly well educated Witnesses, including a New convert. One woman from a Welsh farming community said the singing prayers in Welsh makes her cry
A lot of North Wales congregations are assigned to the Liverpool Assembly.
That could be why the numbers are less in Cardiff.ahhh i love finding the nuggets of truth hidden amongst the chaff.

Congregation Reassignments in Ohio?
by My Name is of No Consequence infrom what i understand, a letter was read this past week in regards to congregation reassignments and that the elders want to meet with people at their homes to tell them where they have been reassigned.
obviously, this would be due to the merging and dissolution of congregations.
can anyone confirm this?.

Morph, one counter point. The last Pew survey indicated that the JWs in the US are getting old and continue to skew that way. Sure, you see plenty of young folks at some congregations, but there's a ton of grey hair or no hair out there.
If the doubters are correct, then why is the Borg making videos about how to behave when you are reassigned because your KH is gone?
Db, i appreciate you citing an actual source. Facts we deal with :)
i also quoted DD because the points are not unrelated.
One significant problem for the org that dosent get a lot of press is the lack of guys to handle the “man” designated work. The kh consolidation actually helps with that. Fewer congregations with more people = few men needed.

Well, lets take a look at your list and see what we can find....
Morpheus:
Halls
what does thay mean, “halls”? Do you mean selling and consolidation? The real estate market is hot and they are not growing like they did in the 80’s and 90’s. Some people call it “profit taking”. Nobody calls it “collapse”.
printing just above nil
if thats a sign of collapse then my bank must be going out of business as well. They stopped printing paper bank statements a few years ago. Maybe i need to head to the atm this morning and make sure my money is still safe... never mind, its 2018, i’ll just check online.
growth negligible
notice you didnt say “no growth” or “decrease”. There is still growth. The org grows. It hasnt begun to contract in numbers let alone collapse.
branch closures
see my remarks under “halls”. It applies here the same.
reduced meetings
thank thor. Less time wasted, no more meetings in my house. Has no bearing on “collapse” and especially since that change was more than a decade ago and the org is still here.
Unapologetically regurgitating articles
its a valid point regarding the direction of the org but in no way points to “collapse”. It lends much more to a desire to stay on message, and allow no room for error in message. Also less staff to write and publish, be that in print or digital form.
baptising children
contrary to popular belief on this forum the borg have ALWAYS done that. If an 8 or 9 year old really wanted to get dunked they could. A couple gb 1.0 members bragged about being baptised at 8 years old... in 1930’s and 1940’s. Absolutely nothing new there.
governments examining proefures and policies
you do know thats also nothing new, right? Jw’s have a long record of court cases in the usa and have been banned many times in many countries.
increased negative press
im sorry, but can you define “increase”? Do you mean on this forum or worldwide? Jw’s have long gotten negative press. Thats why the gb has long written articles about ignoring it and not watching it. Are you old enough to remember the 60 minutes interview with leslie stall? Are you old enough to remember the newspaper articles when olin moiles testified against the judge? Its not new. At all.
aging congregations
*sigh* please. You have no numbers or reference point at all for this outside of your own experience. Local congregations in DC have thousands of young people as do their conventions. You have no hard data (and neither do i), its merely YOUR perception as YOU get older.
jj trottsalot showing the increased paranoia
rotflmao. Hes a poster trolling you, stop being gullible. Also even if he wasnt a troll, one individual witness being paranoid is an indication of nothing. Thats ridiculous.
governing body member boldfaced lying publicly for any Jw to see
yea cause that's new. Russel and Rutherford never lied.
GB asking for money outright
yea cause thats also new.
Leadership admitting they are struggling to keep up
perhaps you could share where that admission was made? Im unaware of that.
overlapping generations
rotflmao again. Thats not “new” either. Visit jw facts and see his very throughly researched chart (with wt references) on how many times the generation teaching has changed. Note: its a LOT. And for more than 100 years its been changing.
change in alternative service policy
lol one change in policy means the org is collapsing? Your losing your grip on reality now. The wt flip flops like carp on the dock and has for a century.
missionaries, overseers, bethelites being kicked to curb
that is a good one. Not collapse, but a sugn of fincial tightening.
conentions in assembly halls instead of larger venues
uhm... thats not even true. Please check your facts.
fewer assemblies with no food, no books
fewer assemblies isnt true. No food happened more than 20 years ago now. Not a sign of collapse.
In short, you have fallen victim to the common human flaw of thinking whatever last is the biggest and most important thing ever. You also have a terroble grasp on the org history and just how much this is history repeating itself.
