as an aside the flood thing seems fairly easy to counter. Noah and his children were still imperfect. Sin continued. The dubbies new world will eliminate that, although by their own story telling there will stilk be yet another great cleans when satan is let loose again after the 1000 years. Seems like some will always not like gods way and his answer always is the same

To answer your question, yes the elder would be removed if it came out, at least strictly by wt standards. If that body is liberal maybe they look the other way and give it a pass as her being destitute and therefore its ok. I dont know her situation in detail and what the elder in question may be able to point to... and i think we all have an idea as to whether or not she will be “encouraged” to go to meetings... of course she will. And threatened with being out out if she dosent. And manipulated emotionally because she will be happy to be home. And it sounds like she was lonely also (we all have the need for friends). Shes in a terrible spot... just be her friend and offer whatever support you can.

Unacknowledged!

so...i watched the new netflix movie, "uncknowledged" by dr steven greer today fierce hearing to dj's discussing it on the radio, minds blown.

it makes a strong case for ufo's and totally screws up jw doctrine about the earth having the only intelligent life in the universe, as it is where the issue of universal sovereignty is played out and decided....the gb will need to do some fast talking.

it will be fascinating to blow some jw minds with this.

After seing this thread yesterday i figured i would watch and see what i thought, so here is my take....

there was lot in that video that made my bullshit detector go crazy. For example, time after time in the video peoples personal statments of belief were offered as “proof” of alien life. I dont care any more if lord admerial jerk off belives in alien life than if jimmy bob down at the walmart does. Its proof of nothing for a random person to express belief. Much of the movie was centered around people who have some air of crediblity offering their personal view in an attempt to sway opinion.

Another thing that was offered as “proof” over and over were unverifiable statments of things said decades ago. Its all well and good but without any corroboration its pointless and hearsay at best. The most egregious example was a supposed death bed quote from wernher von braun warning about false flags operations that would culminate in false flag attacks by aliens. Seriously? A very convient and far too accurate death bed quote from a person who wouldnt have been in a position to have that information in the first place. Bullshit meter is pegged out on that one.

then he spends an inordinate amount of time on free energy. Free energy is the ultimate mcguffin. He sprinkles in some tesla (a fabled genuis who was also a legendary liar) and some anti big oil propaganda just to make sure we hate the right people enough to chase his mcguffin. He only half ass tries to razzle dazzle with some sudo science bullshit ,and by the way, he throws in some useless clips of tv news talking about a guy who built a long ago debunked “water engine” which has absolutely nothing to do with his supposed zero point alien energy source but because it makes it look like big oil kills people to cover up alternative energy sources we are supposed to lap it up.

Then there is the supposed nuclear connection. The idea that multiple ufo crashes occured in the early 40’s... seriously? These beings can master interstellar space travel but crash here all the time??? Multiple accounts relating to how advanced there space ships compared to anything we have but they apparently crash all the damn time? Crazy ass stories about alien ships disarming nukes being sent into space... but not any other satalites??? Jesus the level of shit i was asked to swallow was unreal. It was like demon stories from old watchtowers.

So thats where my bullshit meter was going crazy.... where i was a bit more interested and, while just as skeptical, more convinced were peoples personal (first hand) experiences and accounts. Those things have to be examined in light of the people who offer them. In those cases i do care a bit more if an FAA sections chief says something than if Billy bob from the walmart says it... some of those first hand accounts were compelling... but then ive heard some of them before and was convinced that they were telling the truth as they saw it so im not sure what i get from hearing more...

Bottom line for me: when i strip away the obvious bullshit and emotionally charged crap i got some very interesting first hand accounts , unfortunately nothing that can be corroborated. I WANT to believe and do, on some level, believe... in something... i guess? But this movie offered not a damn thing in the way of solid evidance to let me hang my hat on.

i've put forward the argument that i believe that the 'organization' is financially effectively bleeding itself dry - it is actually financially imploding.. i believe that over the last 45 or so years, in particular, it has evolved from a relatively 'lean machine' into what is now a huge unwieldy organization.

as an organization grows i would expect increased efficiency through by both economies of scale, and advances in technology.. how has the watchtower organization fared?....

Interesting question on the support staff for the support staff... when i was in the laundry in the early 90’s there were over 100 full time laundry people and housekeepers came once a week for a rotation helping to fold clothes. Many of the staff were sisters, people they needed fo find work for. I cant specifically comment on the ratio of support to actual needed staff but it seemed like a lot of the muckety mucks wanted a comfortable life. Their jobs wernt particuarly hard and yet they had 3 meals cooked and prepared every day, their rooms cleaned and their laundry done. It was a hellva good life for the upper echelon who worked office jobs 9 hours a day. For those of us who not only performed their menial labor 9 hours a day, worked Saturdays did dish duties watchman duties and as laundry guys did extra chute duties too it wasnt so comfy.

a local jobo recently told me (or told me recently), that the uk government will seize unused kingdom halls and other churches if they are empty or not used.. the jobo said this was a new thing from the uk government.

the jobo was vague about it and couldn't verify their source.. now, i know russia is doing stuff but i've not heard anything about the uk.

it doesn't sound plausible.. i've searched the tinternet but can't find anything suggesting this.. i'm sure it's just utter jobo propaganda scare tactics and rumours.

I cannot speak on the UK but here in the USA we call it ‘urban blight’ and there are indeed programs to encourage revitalization in areas where buildings have been abandoned. Be it legal seizure because of unpaid taxes or money to encourage renovation or variations of those themes nobody wants to see abandonded property. However thats across the board, no matter who owns the property or its zoning and its entirely legal and known. This sounds like nonsense.

Good question smiddy and theres lots of angles... one i like to explore is why the nwt added back the name of their desert god.... if he is all powerful and able to protect his word through 1000’s years then why was his name ever gone? Why is there a need for textual comparisons and revisions over time if his word was protected? Wouldnt we have good copies throughout the centuries?

Gotta say dark this is an interesting and i like using the bumber of bethelites to pub ratio. Im thinking thats a true reflection as opposed to raw number of hq staff. I find it curious indeed that they expanded so much given the trend toward automation but clearly someone clued them in since the number is shrinking. Another factor in this would be the staff held for construction in warwick. They may have been counted for a time even though the powers that be knew they would be cut once construction was done.

And this is no surprise as i have said it before , but i agree that the confrontational anti proselytizing never works. Even when newbies show up here its a bad tactic, imho. Reason is the only way to go if we are to have any chance at success.
