@kite- i would never speak for you or anyone else but i have had unfortunate exposure to these types of self important apostate clowns and that seemed to be what you were describing. Its also a long and (to me) now tedious debate on this forum. The self styled leaders of the apostate activist movement love to self aggrandize and brag. Others (myself included) try to reason and explain the stupidity of their actions but the endorphin rush of being important in their own eyes overrides their ability to reason.

@alfred- its not simply a matter of ‘if it makes them feel better than no harm’. Those asshats terrorized a congregation and reinforced the bad image of those that leave the org. They behaved as stupidly and vile as the org says apostates do. Not only did they accomplish nothing in helping people see the real truth they did EXACTLY the opposite. They care nothing for those in the org, they care nothing about exposing the real truth to those that COULD be helped. They care only about feeding their own petty desire for some half assed sense of vengance or some rediculious notion of “justice”. They are fucking morons who deserved to have their collective asses kicked and thrown out of the hall, arrested for disturbing the peace and carrying around criminal records for the rest of their lives.

Women who are raped and df’d for it..? Seriously? Its that sort of lunatic ranting that highlights so called apostate activism and why so many wont involve themselves.

I have said before and will say again, i saw several of these marchs at bethel. It didnt phase me in the least. I’ve seen dozens of these over the years at what were then called district conventions in richmond va and reading PA. Never made the least impact.

Its all self aggrandizing shit. Its designed to make the ACTIVIST feel important. Its designed to make the ACTIVIST feel better. Making jackasses of yourself during a church service is in no way about helping the congregants see the nature of their cult and the jackasses who did it damn well know it. It was recorded and thrown on the internet to make themselves self styled apostate heros.

christian legal fellowship (clf) seems to have a new member.

the jehovah’s witnesses aka the watchtower.the membership list does not seem to be public, but i am sure that with enough inquiries from the public -that clog the arteries of their email server- we can get at the truth.just like the watchtower affiliation with the un, it seems now the watchtower has affiliated with trinitarians.the clf brings legal action on behalf of the tower.. .

Sigh.... let me try this in a simplified way..

swaggert didnt ask the wt for help. He didn't know them on any personal level and most importantly he couldnt have stopped the wt from filing by any means.

The wt didnt give a damn about jimmy nor did they ask his permission to file amicus. Jimmy could have rotted in hell for they cared. They understood the legal ramifications for themselves and filed on their own behalf. This is not a difficult concept.

Similarly, the wt did not ask for this amicus to be filed in the current case. They could not have stopped it even if they knew about it, which they may not have.... there is absolutely no relationship between these parties beyond a comon legal standing.

Sigh... never mind. Its all a big conspiracy. Somebody run and tell the press! Theres a court case involving the wt and some other random sudo religious legal group thinks it impact them! Tell slim the wt is finally folding! I call dips on the sound system from my local hall, you guys can have everything else.

In theory, can one be disfellowshipped for attempted suicide?

so i was recently reading the reasons for disfellowshipping as listed in shepherd the flock of god.

the handbook is available online here: https://thetruthofjehowaswittness.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/jehovas-vitner.pdf.. on page 59, point #4, it lists attempted suicide as a reason for disfellowshipping.

has it ever been removed?

And no, suicide has NOT been removed as a reaosn for df’ing. There is direction to call the branch before proceding with that comitte

i understand that the "apostate" activity this week has caused the wt/gb to change the content of the november jwbroadcasting episode and will delay its release until they can figure out how to spin this activity.. .

has anybody heard of this or is there any truth to this?

Lastman, while i see what you are driving at, its a tenuious thread at best.

Lets look at the case if jimmy swaggert. The wt filed “ “amicus curiae”, which definition is found here :https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/amicus%20curiae#legalDictionary. It did not mean then or now that the wt was a “friend” of jimmy swaggert, rather, legally they had common interests. Its also noteworthy that jimmy didn’t ask the wt to file said brief nor did the wt offer on his behalf. It was offered on behalf of the wt’s position.

Amicus Curiae is a process where a person or entity can comment on a case if they believe the ruling in said case will have an impact on that person or entities interests. In short, the wt knew an unfavorable ruing against swaggert would directly impact them and filed their brief. The brief didnt make the wt and jimmy swaggert ministries friends, allies, business partners or even cousins.

This situation you cite is exactly the same. This organization is exercising their legal right to comment to the court on a case that they believe will have an impact on their organization if an unfavorable ruling is handed down to the wt. It dosent imply or establish any sort of relationship between the parties beyond a common legal standing, in this case organized religions.

they are well aware of all the issues they are facing.

they know their numbers (they 'do the math' as they say in the us).

The reason i feel confident saying i would go back tomorrow if they ended shunning is that, as gayle noted, they cannot end shunning. It will never happen. But if they did i would gladly go back :)
