  i kid because i love, slim ;)

  to the points made by kite, i would think a date surrounding the annual meeting makes a great deal of sense. The day before or the day after, maybe one week later to address ideas dropped at the agm even, any of those makes much more sense in the witness context than 11/5.

  I also understand and to some extent agree with the idea that you want to include people who have a signifigant cult experiance but i think anyone who was in the cult or touched by it has a valid cult pov. Consider a single mom who was dragging her kids to the hall. She would never be an elder or ms and because of her responsibilities with children she would likely not pioneer... but she was as devoted as any.

  What i suspect you may be alluding too (and forgive me for trying to speak for you) or at least a feeling i have that may be similar, is trying to avoid having people who are loons represent the ex jw movement. You dont want bro or sis fringe jw loon who left the org because they hear voices representing those who left over doctrinal issues or childwelfare concerns etc etc. you want rational well spoken reasonable people to represent those who left for rationale reasonable reasons.

  on the matter of dress.... i get that dressing in a dignified (witness like) manner may be more palatable for wintesses but i dont think its necessary. I suspect behavior and attitude would make far more of an impact than dress alone. Fix the big issues and the smaller things like dress wont show glaringly if at all.

  i also agree a single issue presentation may be more desirable strictly from a marketing standpoint but you also never know what issue may touch someones heart. Perhaps try to pick a theme and have variations on that. That way you end up with a broad range of issues but centered around a theme that keeps it focused. Think “wt injustice” and signs that center around it, justice for children, justice for those who died before organ transplants etc etc.. You dont want to kill peoples creativity by boxing them in but walk a fine line keeping a focused message to try leave an inpression.

  I also think general signs pointing to jw facts or this web site serve a broad purpose and a really good tactic. The internet allows witnesses to explore their doubts in private without worrying about being discovered. Even at that a lot of people here will tell you they went through a huge phase of fear, fear of the desert god striking them down for reading on this web site, fear of being outted etc etc... but the basics on jw facts and the ablity to interact here have been key for a lot of people and simple signs calling attention to these sites mixed in with others would be great.

  Theres lots of really good territory to explore on this front.

  What would you do for next November 5?

  i think everything has to start somewhere, and you can see the passion and commitment from those loyal 50 that showed up in warwick yesterday.

  the event was not very well organized but you could see the passion & dedication from most of them.

  and i think they at least touched a couple of people at the kh yesterday.. having an annual day of action actually inspires me.

  Let me also point out a huge and overlooked flaw in the idea of yearly 11/5 protests.. this is an american based religion, both in history and in physical location. November 5 is meaningless to americans. Guy fawks isnt a historical figure we grow up being told about or identify with on any level. A simple and effective way to start would be choosing a more meaningful date

  Pete (and others), i respect your well thought out reply to my criticisms of this form of protest. I point one thing that is innacurate in your reply: the disorganization is not because the apostate movment is “new”. Thats nonsense. This is 2017, almost 2018. The “apostate” movment started back in the mid 1930’s when the bible students split into two groups... more recently it began after the 1975 debacle. Then again in the early 1980’s after ray franz left. None of this new and to excuse this disorganized lunacy as a simple symptom of “newness” overlooks the real issues.

  1) most of these clowns are self made internet stars who crave adulation, not actually helping people out of the cult.

  2) often when people wake up to the truth they develop lives away from the cult and become happy living them. They dont care to have the cult continue to dominate their lives by protesting it. This makes organizing ex jw’s en mass difficult.

  3) a fair number of ex jw’s on this forum over the years have expressed a desire to be more activist but dont want to be associated with the sorts of wing nuts who are activists, like rick fearon or some of those who “lead” the protest this weekend.

  so whats to be done? When the only people who will lead are self aggrandizing clowns that sane people dont want to follow and a large number of sane and rational ex jw’s arnt interested in wasting more time on the cult we get what we saw this weekend: a small group with incredibly self centered motives recording themselves being jackasses who then, like baghdad bob, take to the internet and declare victory.

  November 2017 monthly program affected by apostates??

  i recently watched a video about a kingdom hall demonstration from a link on this site, and in the comments on youtube somebody said this: .

  i understand that the "apostate" activity this week has caused the wt/gb to change the content of the november jwbroadcasting episode and will delay its release until they can figure out how to spin this activity.. .

  has anybody heard of this or is there any truth to this?

  oh god spare me the sanctimonious bullshit. They interrupted a random meeting of local witnesses. It in NO way had any impact whatsoever on jw leadership. These asshats had no connection the congregation they disrupted. Had they actually been from that hall i could understand perhaps even respect the protest because of the personal connection... they may as well have barged in on some small town cathomic parish and then patted themselves on the back for having “made the pope scared”.

  What self deluded idiots.

  Far from reverberating around the world this was a local story that the locals will repeat for years and shake their heads in distain at the malicious apostates. And of corse they will enjoy a through figurative back patting from fellow opostates who find some weird self fulfillment in seeing others act like fools.

  you know - the old juicysteak vaa thing from some years ago.. i haven't seen anything much about it on youpube or faecesbook.
