  Did man really go to the moon?

  Pontoon, at least the moon myth has something somewhat realistic behind it. They believe in the moon, they believe its round, they just question whether men went there or not... i can live with that question. I dont mind pointing out all the evidance associated with the moon landings, provided people are willing to discuss it reasonably.

  The earth being flat is unforgivably stupid and i wont engage that asinine debate. Put those morons to sleep to prevent their breeding into the general population and lets move on.

  I have a lense for my camera capable of picking it up. Ive photographed neptune and if you zoom in enough you can see some of its moons (they are round of course). Its not auto focus, however, so catching the iss is tricky

  Along with you jeff, another simple proof is lunar ranging reflectors. But again, i feel dirty engaging these sorts of trolls but at least they acknowledge the moon is not flat :/

  Interestingly, i dabble in amature radio and track the iss and various satalites as well so i know the pain when you miss a perfect fly over and the insufferable wait for the orbit to cross over you again. Flat earths are a bitch like that...

  in the discussion about race i adopted a position i am not entirely comfortable with.

  i think there is a sense in which it is useful to distinguish categories of description that can be fruitfully defended (apples and bananas) and those that cannot (caucasian or other racial descriptions for example).

  but there is a more fundamental sense in which i believe that everything is socially constructed, every single line you can think of.

  Just to go along with crow, your not looking for answers, slim. Your looking for meaning. The “laws of physics” describe the actions, the movments , the interactions between objects etc etc.. you looking for “why” on some deep level when the answer is no more deep than “because”. Things work as they work, we observe and describe them, there is no deeper meaning. Feel free to ascribe it to god but even in that you simply end up in the same place... what do i mean..? Well, why did god make pi equal 3.14 and not 3.16? “Because he decided it” is the only answer. In the end looking for reason in god is no more satisfying, it simply ascribes reason to something and that alone makes some people feel better.

  i think there is a sense in which it is useful to distinguish categories of description that can be fruitfully defended (apples and bananas) and those that cannot (caucasian or other racial descriptions for example).

  but there is a more fundamental sense in which i believe that everything is socially constructed, every single line you can think of.

  The problem is that the explanation has to “feel” good to some. The explanation can simply be “the laws of physics” but that isnt good enough for some... some need to believe that a singular god decided on the laws of physics. Thats where the feels come from.

  i thought the flat earth conspiracy theory was strange but ive just read an article about a new conspiracy theory that the earth is hollow and that its a paradise there and 8 foot tall intellectually advanced aliens live there who send space ships out every so often to check on mankind.

  apparently lost viking colonies and nazis that fled there after world war 2 are living there immortally 🤣🤣 .
