i had never thought about this until just now when i saw that nathan natas posted some early tract from rutherford, and it made me think back to what little i could remember of the history i was taught.
i now know that in most cases the dubs will spin stories in their favor.
so i'm now assuming i was told some fictitious story about what happened when the leaders were thrown in prison and things looked bleak for the cult way back when.
Td, in fairness, the charges were dropped because without the wartime fervor, the case wouldnt have been won. Its not technically an exoneration but it was defacto one.
The judge in that case was obviously biased. The sentances were extreme to say the least and they were damn near outright railroaded. I hate the org and Rutherford specifically was an ass who deserved prison for his abuses as head of the org, but that particular case was a travesty.

Im sorry shirely, i really dont follow, at least not a 100%. You said something about people mindlessly cheering for their leader and instantly obamas inaugurations came to mind as an example. I remember seeing him when he made some grandiose remark about his election being the moment when the rise of the oceans stopped and people lost their minds... all i could do was look around and shake my head at the seals clapping at what they did not know. Dont let ernests diatribes on dead langues distract from the obvious: the jw belief that only 144,000 go to heaven is ludicrous. They teach all first centery christains were annointed and that the earthly hope didnt open until around 1935... but there wernt 144,000 followers between the year 29 and 1935? Please. It stupid beyond words.
in this midweek meeting the local needs was a booooring speech about the new brochure on donations.
the wt must think the jws are dying to know how to give their money.. well, it's not new this is disgusting but this time, after i ve been slightly hinting people here and there for a year about the 'abnormal request of money' and remind them that 'the faithful slave wasn't like that until some time ago', this time i saw their faces.

Well they have had a brochure for sometime, something about “charatable giving” in the tittle. Have they perhaps revised it? I think there was a wt study article written once a year that mentioned it
