  the watchtower is so short of money because they have to pay for all the upkeep of so many branch offices around the world.because so many of the branch offices are in very poor countries and they are not balancing the budgets.

  Quite frankly, it’s a wonder that Watchtower has managed to survive as long as it has!

  Round and round we go.... as noted many times before, The wt was never a publishing house in the traditional sense. They simply use the publications as a means to separate the flock from their money. They have always been a religion with their members as their source of income. As long as they have members they have “shoes to sell”, to use your flawed analogy.

  Also, you admit to being supprised they have lasted this long.... at what point do you realize your assumptions are clearly flawed?

  Just thought I'd mention it as it is so unusual. I heard local cong friend's rib her about it every now and then as they think it's weird!

  FF, any remarks indicating that the subject of rebaptsium being stupid were in no way directed towards to you. Your story was interesting and not without precedent.

  There was a very brief time where it was sort of kind of allowed. There was also a brief time where people were df’d for even asking to be rebaptized.

  For 99.99999999999% of the orgs history it has not and is not now the policy to rebaptise individuals. Further more such a rebaptsium wouldnt change the orgs numbers one bit. It would be the exact same number of publishers. Its interesting to discuss historically. Its stupid to suggest it as some sort of fraud in the future.

  This has never been an "option" - what you have described is not, and has never been, anything JWs have ever done.
  These speculations about "rebaptisms" possibly being required are loonier than even "overlapping generations".

  Thank you. I lacked words to describe how loony toons that discussion is. Id like to categorize it as “dumbest post of the week” but its only Wednesday.

  I passed over this thread a few times, because I didn't think it would go in the direction it has... JW's/ExJ's??? You know, as someone who left the cult over two decades ago, I sometimes forget how susceptible cult survivors are to cult mentality in other forms

  did you really read the comments? You know, actually think about what was said...? Or did you just click and jump to type the first ‘former cult members are still in a cult’ comment you could think of? Im betting the latter.

  Had you actually, you know, “read” the comments you wouldnt have found support for jones personally but rather support for the idea of free speech and engaging ideas, no matter how stupid they may be and fear that anyone group would dare to put themselves as arbitors of whats worthwhile or gate keepers of ideas.

  His site is getting TONS of traffic and he has gained 100k’s of followers on twitter, who didnt ban him. This is how it works. As popular as he is, he has the ablity to stay relevant. It hurts those who are not as popular when they are muted, but if this hurts fbook and other platforms (as it will to some degree) they may bot be so willing in the future to take similar action.

  Mmm, no argument from me. Its very targeted and very specific to jones who many credit with getting trump elected (not accurate, in my view). This is clearly nonsense and they cant back it up or apply it consistantly... but that dosent change my view. Its their right. And its the right of those who dont agree to refuse to do business with them.

  Yes, they are private companies but it seems they got together and decided to take this action collectively in response to the desire of elected officials.

  Yep, kinda seems like collusion...

  This is different than if a company just decided to ban someone because they violated site policy.

  no it isnt, fortunately. Business have an absolute right to make those decisions and we as customers have the right to complain and take our business elsewhere. The political right owns talk radio... should radio stations be forced to give air time to left leaning hosts, even if the shows are unpopular and dont make money? I say no way. If Twitter and fb become unfriendly to so called conservative or right leaning voices then those users will leave. Thats freedom my friend. I would never trade it.

  what the heck.. i couldn't believe it, norm brekkie and tom combs are still alive.. norm is so out of it he couldn't tell you what day of the week it was.. i talked to larry fisher he is gone mentally also.

  he couldn't even remember when he went to bethel.. then i called up daryl christenson.
