I sent off my application to study Palaeobiology (MSc) at Bristol uni and ...
by LoveUniHateExams in... they've accepted me!
finance is already sorted - they're waiting for me to give them my new student number so that they can start paying me.
just need to formally accept bristol's offer and sort out accommodation.. accommodation should be ok - i've been told priority is given to new students, plus i'm enrolling onto a program for a real degree as a postgraduate - i won't be studying gender studies or some crap like that.

Protesters at today’s assembly on the news

Except that conventions ARE NOT private events. They are open TO THE PUBLIC, as in the useless busy work of spending weeks ahead of time slipping thousands of invitations into the doors of THE PUBLIC. Nice try though.
False. They are most certainly and obviously private events. That you would argue otherwise is ludicrous. Not at all a good try on your part.
Dont let your watchtower hate get in the way of clear facts and common sense. Even if the reporter got in it wouldnt have made a bit of difference in her article. She also called ms “decons”, and every jw in the country rolled their eyes and stopped reading. If she cant get basic terminology right, if she cant be bothered with basic fact checking, it calls everything else into question.

Facial Hair
by new boy insince i have been out for seventeen years what is the currant society policy concerning beards and mustaches.. in the sixties and seventies facial hair was forbidden at bethel if you white.
if you were black you could have mustache but no beards.
so obviously you could not be elder or pioneer if you had a beard.. any updates?
-
_Morpheus
From my understanding in the USA beards are not so big of a deal anymore if you're unbaptized
Lol thats both obvious and rediculious to even mention. NOTHING is a big deal if you are unbaptized.

Amazon Prime Same Day Delivery
by Iamallcool inwho delivers same day items?
i am curious.
thanks!.
-
_Morpheus
I dont see how this is ‘off topic’ since you started the topic...?
That aside, when i get something same day from amazon it seems to fit two criteria: 1) its stocked by amazon in a local hub or “fulfillment center” and 2) it get delivered via independant courier. In the dc area a company called “laser shipping” seems to have a contract for a lot of it.
It appears that they have independant contractors come by once a day for packages stocked in those hubs and if your address is within “x” miles of said hub they know the delivery can be same day. Things shipped via us mail, fed ex and ups all have to go through their hubs and add a day or more. Here in dc they offer (based on delivery address im sure) free same day on a lot of (usually) smaller items, generally with the caveat that you order st 35$ bucks worth of merchandise. I have taken advantage more often than i care to admit.

Watchtower Corporation Hacked By It's Own IT Department
by Brokeback Watchtower init's hard for me to think that the watchtower it department must be fully aware of wt duplicity as in they are experts in using the internet and are fully aware of what the internet is saying about their boss.. so why not hack them and make more public their utter bullshit in a humanitarian concern expressed by what ever powers he has to reduce guilt.. as the reputation of the watchtower goes south and more dirt is revealed the more likely it is for those in position of trust like watchtower it department to be forced into a very precarious position of helping a bunch of frauds and so why should it be of any surprise that some type of corrective vengeance is planed by many members of the it..

I agree with everything AA said but this most of all
Edit to add: I'm not really fond of clickbait title by the way! It contributes to confusion and fake news, and we don't need that!
I saw it was brokeback and knew it was therefore ‘fakenews’ but still....

The men arnt commenting because we used to give hour long dissertations on the same stupid topics. If you think its hard vamping for 5 min with someone to interplay with try doing it for an hour with nothing but dull looks from a hundred people.
Truthfully by the time i got appointed as an elder i had realized it was never about “the information” it was all about how you made the audience FEEL. Nothing else mattered. If it was a happy fun time talk, all you had to was hype them up with some fluff and put on a happy performance, end it up with some upbeat remarks nail the conclusion strong and they applaude like seals and go home FEELING upbeat. I swear it was so easy i stopped writting talks. I would wing the hell out of it and got rave reviews. I used to write assembly parts the day i practiced in front of the CO and would just add whatever his little remarks were before the actual assembly.
Nobody really cared what you said as long as it made them feel like it was supposed to. Read a few scriptures, parrot some org doctrine and maybe throw in an illustration and you were a grade A speaker.
Even when i was a full on believer i knew how jaded and borderline hypocritical it was but when you have a full time job and the org wants you to work another fulltime for free you do what you have to make it all fit a day.

JW’s do NOT shun... (apprently)
by pale.emperor inmy quora campaign of answering all jw related questions truthfully with evidence is going well.
however, one jw had the audacity to claim that "jws do not shun".
they seem to want to present a fake, squeeky clean image to non-members and seem to get angry when answering questions regarding shunning.. like this asshole, dennis cybulski.

Those who were baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses but no longer preach to others, perhaps even drifting away from association with fellow believers, are not shunned. In fact, we reach out to them and try to rekindle their spiritual interest.
Thats true, mostly. What it conveniently leaves out is that nobody claimed faders (the situation they describe) were shunned. We are refering to df’d People. They are in fact shunned.

Jehovah’s Witnesses Really Have No Power Over You Unless YOU Let It Happen!
by minimus inshould i go to a judicial committee and perhaps get disfellowshipped?
should i talk to the elders just because they say they want to talk to me?
should i simply disassociate myself and have nothing to do with the organization?.

If nothing else, if you're trying to tell everyone else how to live in relation to the cult, your JW is showing.
morphs law!
