$2,000 fine for not releasing files?
by Bad_Wolf inhttps://international.la-croix.com/news/jehovahs-witness-leader-urges-elders-to-destroy-sex-abuse-records/8188#.
a california court fined only $2,000 to the wt for not releasing records of 775 sex abuse cases?
they should have made the fine 20 million +.

To further highlight the ridiculous nature of your complaint, you can fly round trip from new york (where the gb are located) to japan for 6k. Round trip. First class.
You can fly from new york (where the gb are located) to south africa, for 6k. Round trip. First class.
In short there is NO destination in the world that costs 20k for a first class ticket from new york.

You are showing domestic flights, first class international are much more.
Interesting that your holding to your extreme example instead of addressing the substance of my remark. That said, YOU gave the example of a first class flight to, in your own words, “the first class flight the WT lawyer or GB member would of taken to respond to that.”
Please note the flights i showed are first class, ROUND TRIP, from new york city to LA . That is the flight a gb member would take to respond to appear in court.

A california court fined only $2,000 to the WT for not releasing records of 775 sex abuse cases? They should have made the fine 20 million +. That $2,000 fine is 1/10 of the first class flight the WT lawyer or GB member would of taken to respond to that.
1/10 of the 2,000 fine would make the first class ticket 20k. My picture above shows your claim is at best hyperbole. Dont let your wt hate cloud your rationality. The fine was 2k PER DAY. That is indeed punitive by almost anyones standard.

What of a man who is disfellowshipped but whose wife and children are still Jehovah’s Witnesses? The religious ties he had with his family change, but blood ties remain. The marriage relationship and normal family affections and dealings continue.
If a fellow Christian or a loved one displays poor judgment, your showing restraint similar to that of Joseph might help you to avoid an impulsive reaction. (Prov. 16:32; 17:27) If you have disfellowshipped relatives, you may need to control your feelings in order to avoid unnecessary contact with them. Self-restraint in such situations is not automatic, yet it is easier if we realize that our actions are in line with God’s example and in harmony with his counsel.
Doubter, do you see a difference in the two quotes above? Do they give you the exact same impression?

Cognitive Dissonace on full display at JWtalk over evolution research
by Sanchy ina user over on the jwtalk forum recently shared a warning over his research on evolution in preparation for an assigned talk.
after detailing a couple of the tidbits that he learned of during his research, he went on to say:.
this i found to be useful especially when talking ot others in the ministry.. but and it is a big but.....

Your just arguing.
the wt is CLEARLY ‘dumbed down’ compared to what it was 5 years ago, let alone 10 or 15 years ago and it is clearly ‘dumbed down’ compared to average newspapers or even a normal conversation between adults. You dont have to defend everything the organization does.

I can tell you about newspapers I read — they never talk over my head, and I do not have a college education. People with advanced degrees will definitely say it’s dumbed down for me and the dumb masses.
Your arguing something im not and i think you know it. If they wanted to, of course newspapers could write at a level that would be incomprehensible to most people, full of terms and expressions not common to anyone outside the circles of academia. Instead they write well constructed sentences at, generally speaking, a first or second year college equivalent. Its not overly complex but its certainly not the elementary school level the wt has resorted to recently.
But you’re gonna criticize WT no matter what they do, so why should they care about your ideas?
That is a gross false hood and baseless assumption on your part. Read my posts. I frequently defend the wt (not a position i like) from rediculious accusations on this board. I firmly believe it does great harm when people blame the wt for everything, including their grandmothers gout. There is plenty to critize them for and i believe in being accurate and fair about it. if one wants to be taken seriously, being honest and fair in criticism is a necessity.

goodwins law states:.
as an online discussion grows longer, the greater the probability of a comparison involving hitler approaches.

I do appreciate your rebuttal.
But newspapers also talk to everyone. The sports section talks to people who know sports. The business sections talks to people who are into business, and each section uses language and concepts familiar to that target audience.
Why can’t WT do the same thing?Exactly my point. Newspapers, by your own admission, talk to everyone. I challenge you to find any section of any newspaper that writes using the same dumbed down language as those two excerpts you cited.
The wt used to do exactly as newpapers do: write articles that were willing to challange the readers intellect. If that means using a dictionary, so be it. If it means rereading a passage to make sure you understand the point, mores the better.
The references you shared were startlingly poor in their composition. Ive only been gone 3 years and its jarring to read that and know where it comes from.

Because, as an adult, it makes me feel as if im being spoken down to.. your results may vary, but i would never accept this from a news paper, a web site, a blog from any source that wanted to be taken seriously.
