Outlaw hasn't been around for quite some time, got in a spat with Cofty
Yes cofty does make the forum unpleasent sometimes, doesnt he.
do people simply leave because the site has given them what they wanted?
are they now infrequent lurkers?.
did they go back to the watchtower?.

do today's elders ever meet with inactive members and pressure them to write a letter disassociating themselves from the congregation stating that, ''you no longer wish to a jehovah witness"?.
i was baptized at the young age of 16. after turning 18, i stopped attending meetings, field service, and all jehovah's witness activities.
i wanted to be with my high school friends, go to rock concerts, have a girlfriend, and live like a normal teen.
@snakes-
As the manual posted earlier stated, if a JC was in process, that would end but would be put in the local file along with the notification to the Branch about the DA. If the person came back, then the original JC matter would be reopened.
We as a class were told never request a letter. NEVER
Cofty thinks you are naive because you can read and he does not agree with you.
Slimone-
It’s interesting how to read the evidence from the elders manual

Snuggle-
Are folk who DA themselves to be shunned in the same manner as DF'd persons then?
Yes. In the end the two forms of status (df’d and da’d) are the same to them. The announcement is the same. “Publisher X is no longer one of jw’s”. Fading is the only way to have a shot at not being shunned and its certainly not a given.
Cofty does not agree with what i said but he is wrong about that as well.

Cited on page one of this thread, the ks txt book, chapter nine, paragraph two. Elders are not to try and force anyone to DA. Reading isnt your strong suit. Makes me question all those “i read a book that said...” threads you make.
I try to walk away but im constantly amazed at how ignorant you are and want to see how deep it can go. We havnt found bottom yet but i intend to keep digging. Its sunday night and there isnt much else going on.

Let me revise and extend my (correct and accurate) remarks...
i correctly stated:
I never heard of a policy where anyone was asked to write a letter da’ing themself and it certainly isn't a current policy. . Either you are df’d, you take the initiative to write a da letter or you are inactive.
I will extend it to say “either you are df’d, you take the initiative to da yourself (such as writing a letter) or you are inactive” There remains no policy where they try to force someone to da. As steve stated, local elders may do whatever they do, its not policy.
It is also policy that you can da by actions, as simon noted. Thats not them making you write a letter, as has been pointlessly debated in the face of evidence to the contrary.
To the OP’s question, no there is still no ask you to write a letter policy.

No no no!!! Im right even though morph proved me wrong!
😂😂😂😂 have fun with that. I leave you it.

As usual cofty cannot simply accept he is wrong and move on. Notice the opening words of this topic:
Do today's elders ever meet with inactive members and pressure them to write a letter disassociating themselves from the congregation stating that, ''You no longer wish to a Jehovah Witness"?
I cited, chapter and verse, the current organization policy which states, unequivocally, that NO, elders are not push people to DA. I give zero damns what some random elder did or did not do, but please continue to stamp your feet and insist that your false views are relevant.

That isn't true. Blondie is correct. I have personal experience of elders trying to force a dissociation.
This isnt true. I am correct. As usual. And as usual i have plenty of evidance to back up my correct statments as opposed to you, cofty, who speaks with certitude on things and is more often than not, dead wrong. What is particularly troubling is that this relates to a book.. a book! Thats your strong suit, right..? Quoting books? Let me help you...
The latest elders manual makes no mention of asking somone to write a letter. In fact it specifically says that elders are not push someone to DA. Here is the relevant page. Note paragraph 2.
Please spend more time educating yourself before you pop off on things that are beyond you.

i was driving along through a quiet neighborhood on a saturday morning ( yesterday )and , looky-looky, two dubs.i recognized one of them, complete asshole, exbethelite, can i say his name?it's not important.i rolled up, downed the window and "hey!
"they spun around and i continued, "what are you going to do about all those pedophile lawsuits all over the world?
the two witness rule is wrong and so are you!
So maybe I should check in with a bunch of people I've never met to get your permission on how i live my life and what i do?
No what sounds dumb is doing exactly what you say is dumb and then getting mad about it. Yell, dont yell, do you brother... but dont seek approval from random internet strangers and then get offended when you dont get it.
Again, this was never about helping anyone but yourself. Dont wrap yourself in righteousness as if you were helping wake people up. You were not. You were trying, futilely, to make yourself feel better.
I slow clap for you.
I hope you continue to heal and, one day, find a better way. Until then, yell away.
i realize this is an older posting on jw.org, but i’d come across it again after reading holden’s thread.
quoted below, so no need to visit the website.. _______________________________________________________.
no, jehovah’s witnesses are not a cult.
I tend to agree with phizzy. “Cult” may not be the right term but high control group or some shade thereof has been earned, for sure and for certain.
I'd bet that most jdubs would view Scientology as a cult. There have been so many instances of Leah and Mike (and many others) explaining things, where I've thought, "Damn, merely substitute jdubs for Scientologists and it's bang on the same mind control." They're so alike in many different ways.
I had a similar experiance. When reading steve hassins book about his time in the moonies, many many times i substituted ‘jw’s’ for moonies and it was identical.
Maybe cult is right word....
