  Has anyone ever gotten disfellowshipped for going to University?

  jehovah's witnesses claim no one is disfellowshipped for pursuing higher education.

  somehow it seems there must be some halfwit sorry excuse for an elder somewhere who personally felt threatened by over educated young whippersnappers and decided to mark every nerd he could point his sweaty little finger with.

  I don't know for America, but I can say in France, I never see by myself (since 1990) this staying away for high studies to be actual. I think this advice was never really followed by french JW. (All the JW I know, and was able to do it, made at least three years of University).

  It's impossible to not make university here. Without high diploma, you can just live under a bridge. Or you have to be manual!

  the international pink elephant committee has just awarded the 'watchtower society' the 'pink elephant' award for 2014. .

  the committee's press release stated, in part;.

  it's numbers 13:33 "and there we saw the nephilim, the sons of anak, who are from the nephilim, and in comparison we seemed like grasshoppers, both to us and to them.. now if they honestly believed that they saw the nephilim, it would mean that some nephilim would have had to survive the flood or that the hijinks of the fallen angels before the flood, happened again shortly thereafter.

  the only other thing i can come up with is that nephilim was some kind of generic word that implied giant proportions, but not necessarily the nephilim.. comments from the more educated appreciated.. silent.

  Thanks for your input everyone.  I personally think the Bible has a bit more credence so as to not be written off as a myth.  I approach it as a book of truth and go from there.

  Then why you ask first for educated people to answer you ? If you just wanted believer people to answer you?

  Certainly feel free to continue telling me that it's all lies and fables.

  cofty didn't say it's lies or fables, he says it's myth. It's something totally different! 

  With me you will have a lot of book to read, my dear.

  You can read this three books of the french (christian) anthropologist René Girard,  who explain very great the power of the myth on a civilisation. There is no civilisation, even now, without its own foundation myth!
