FT has been unreasonable on other posts. Condemning others and utilizing very judgemental terms of those that do not agree with him. When someone casts aspersions on others they will get called on it especially in this forum.

Schoolyard bully mentality
by FusionTheism ini'm not naming names, but i just want to encourage people on here or on reddit or twitter, and tell you that you do not have to tolerate people who act like schoolyard bullies in the way they speak to you online.
i think anonymity is a big part of it.
they feel like there is zero accountability so they can be a bully all they want.. i recommend just ignoring or blocking anyone who is verbally abusive or treats you like schoolyard bullies treated you.. life is way too short to spend any time dealing with those kinds of people..

The Case for Theism
by FusionTheism in"theism" here means "belief in a god" or "the worldview that an intelligent designer created the universe and life.
" ("god" here means a being with a mind who initiated and/or wound-up the universe, and designed life on earth)the most common claim that i see atheists making on twitter, is that "no evidence" exists in support of belief in a god.this post will remove any excuse atheists have for claiming "no evidence exists" in support of an initiator.
atheists can still reject this evidence as "weak," but they cannot truthfully say it does not exist.now, it is true that we do not have "observable, repeatable, falsifiable, empirical, scientific" evidence conclusively proving that an initiator exists, but we do have many lines of philisophical, experiential, and logical evidence.and... here... we... go:1:) many leading scientists, including stephen hawking, say that the space-time-matter universe had a beginning at the singularity/big bang.

Stating I don't know is what atheism is. It is no different than aclausism. I can't prove that Santa Claus doesn't exist somewhere out there. But the burden of proof is not on the negative claim "Santa doesn't exist" rather it is on the assertion that something or someone exists "Santa exists".
In order for the hypothesis of Gods to hold up falsifiable evidence must be provided by the one postulating such. One has to start from atheism for an evidence based theorem to hold up. If one starts from a belief in clausism/theism the results are more often than not tainted by bias.

Best Argument for Atheism - In your view.
by LAWHFol inif crisis of conscience is one of the top watchtower doctrine killers, what is the coc of theism?.
i'd like to read a book, or other material that does the best job logically arguing for atheism.. i've not read any darwin, however it is my assumption that his focus is primarily on evolution, is this correct?
if you were to recommend one book or a few pieces of reading material, which do the best job of defending atheism, what would they be?.

A Whole New Watchtower Society (Governing Body 3.0 / Simplified Society)
by FusionTheism ina whole new watchtower society (governing body 3.0 / simplified society).
i'm not here to attack the governing body, watchtower society, or the jehovah's witnesses (jw) organization.
the bible says there is just "one hope" for christians (ephesians 4:4).

It surprises me that you have been out that long. You still come across as so judgemental. Religion stops critical thinking and citing what I can only imagine are utilitarian examples in no way makes what one believes about a higher power true.
I value truth above all else including God. If what you state is true than it has nothing to fear from criticism. It will hold up to all as it is "true". If you are unwilling to examine the other side how are you or others that believe the same as you any different than a jw that calls all who disagree with there annointed leaders apostates?

Your approach has been tried. Most here are not opposing wt. Rabid is also an interesting choice of words. Pretty judgemental I think. Before you continue to cast stones at what you know not, continue your research.
You obviously have started to wake up to the fact that the GB has made many mistakes. Is it possible much of religion as a whole has as well, and why stop there with your critical thinking. If you have truth or just accept something as truth what is the evidence for it. Blind faith is just that blind, it stops critical thinking.
I recommend checking out the truth that a former Pentecostal came to with much study about his religion and how he valued truth above all else. YouTube evid3nc3. I would only check it out though if you value truth above all else.

Spirituality
by Jonathan Drake inif you are a current practitioner of some religious faith i would appreciate it if you abstained from this thread entirely.
im curious if anyone has had what could be discribed as a spiritual experience.
i'm currently reading sam harris book waking up and it's very good so far.

DJS - what I have read and heard from Harris is his way of addressing spiritual as you use the word Karma. He is starting a conversation with this book on the subject. Perhaps 100 years from now we will refer to this as a neo-virtual experience or some other term that provide specific physical knowledge about the areas of the brain that are being affected and how it is helpful or harmful.
If we don't talk about this and chalk it up as just woo how do we grow in our understanding. How will we learn and help humanity break free from the ridiculous superstitions that have burdened us for millennia?

One of the things I appreciated about Harris's book is his approach to the subject. He is an atheist, neuroscientist, and part of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. He gets heat from both sides of the divide with his premise. Theists for taking their cherished religious enlightenment experiences and applying the scientific method to it. Atheists for using the term spirituality in anything but negative terms.
He postulates that the only way to help people get free from religion is to address their woo and apply the scientific method to it. Much like religion stated that they hold the only means to morality. He also shows how near death experiences are similar to those in deep meditation.
I believe the only way we can win this battle against the evil of religion is to confront it on every front. Scientists like Harris, are doing this. Harris with the micro or inner workings of the mind and Krauss with the macro with the beginning of the universe. These are the areas theists and religionists use as a last resort to end discussions. Once these are fully vetted out there will be no other arena for them to go.
