Sparrowdown voluntarily handing over control of our brain applies to those not reared in it from birth. I didn't volunteer it was put upon me. When my grandparents became JW's there was no such thing as shunning. Hell they even condemned other churches for doing it.

This is a life and death issue. One that I feel the public does not know enough about and desperately needs to. When a life and death situation is put upon someone with moments in many cases to move and emotions prevail guess what wins? It's not logic that's for certain.

Every JW and child of JW's lives at risk of dying unnecessarily. They need to know ahead of time how this is wrong. In fact one month after waking up to TTATT a dear friend who was one of the few that was continuously there for my family through my son's treatment was diagnosed with adult leukemia. She refused blood as any good JW would and died within a month. Leaving behind a teenage son scheduled for open heart surgery this year. I wish there was a way to accomplish waking people up to this on a large scale, but the a holes at the top demonize those of us that really care about these people. Our family, friends, and children.

My son was diagnosed December of 2012 and would have died thanks to his protectors the ones who love him the most, had it not been for the courts.

I placed thumbs down on you Marvin and Outlaw. You are speaking of what you know not. I almost lost my son due to this very issue when he was diagnosed with Leukemia. I died a lot that day. It happened so quickly.Thank goodness for the courts. I often felt after I had time to think about it and asked myself if we were any different than those that offered their children to Molech and voiced that to close family and friends. Much to their dismay and mine. I thought every night how I would take my own life after my children were old enough to care for themselves.

This was the catalyst that broke my wife and my dissonance. It took another year or so for it to truly take affect. We were true believers. Third generation. Never doubted that this was the truth and we were doing what was right. We have to live with the guilt of that every day. If I knew then even a tenth of what I now know there is no way I would have placed my family in that situation. One key example is the flip on the organ transplant issue. Which I was not aware of until I started researching.

Having a child was not easy for us either. The doctors told us we would never have children naturally. My wife set about proving them wrong and did. Every one referred to our son as the miracle baby. We love him dearly and cried with joy the day we found out he was on the way, the day he was born, and many others since then.

I do not nor will I ever wish something like childhood cancer on my worst enemy. Being a JW makes this type of Hell the hottest of hells. If I had found TTATT after this and lost my son my vengeance would know no bounds for others perpetrating this belief system and for myself.

Please remember what its like to have been a true believer. Maybe you never were and it was always clear to you what this was. It wasn't for many of us out and many still in. I have to live with myself for as long as I breathe and try to be the best father and husband that I can. Having you condemn me and others like me for it does not help.

Schoolyard bully mentality

i'm not naming names, but i just want to encourage people on here or on reddit or twitter, and tell you that you do not have to tolerate people who act like schoolyard bullies in the way they speak to you online.

i think anonymity is a big part of it.

they feel like there is zero accountability so they can be a bully all they want.. i recommend just ignoring or blocking anyone who is verbally abusive or treats you like schoolyard bullies treated you.. life is way too short to spend any time dealing with those kinds of people..

FT has been unreasonable on other posts. Condemning others and utilizing very judgemental terms of those that do not agree with him. When someone casts aspersions on others they will get called on it especially in this forum.

The Case for Theism

"theism" here means "belief in a god" or "the worldview that an intelligent designer created the universe and life.

" ("god" here means a being with a mind who initiated and/or wound-up the universe, and designed life on earth)the most common claim that i see atheists making on twitter, is that "no evidence" exists in support of belief in a god.this post will remove any excuse atheists have for claiming "no evidence exists" in support of an initiator.

atheists can still reject this evidence as "weak," but they cannot truthfully say it does not exist.now, it is true that we do not have "observable, repeatable, falsifiable, empirical, scientific" evidence conclusively proving that an initiator exists, but we do have many lines of philisophical, experiential, and logical evidence.and... here... we... go:1:) many leading scientists, including stephen hawking, say that the space-time-matter universe had a beginning at the singularity/big bang.

Stating I don't know is what atheism is. It is no different than aclausism. I can't prove that Santa Claus doesn't exist somewhere out there. But the burden of proof is not on the negative claim "Santa doesn't exist" rather it is on the assertion that something or someone exists "Santa exists".

In order for the hypothesis of Gods to hold up falsifiable evidence must be provided by the one postulating such. One has to start from atheism for an evidence based theorem to hold up. If one starts from a belief in clausism/theism the results are more often than not tainted by bias.

if crisis of conscience is one of the top watchtower doctrine killers, what is the coc of theism?.

i'd like to read a book, or other material that does the best job logically arguing for atheism.. i've not read any darwin, however it is my assumption that his focus is primarily on evolution, is this correct?

if you were to recommend one book or a few pieces of reading material, which do the best job of defending atheism, what would they be?.
