  Nathan yes I'm familiar with La Raza. They are a tiny group with very little influence. By the way there is no need for Mexican herbs as I hear the ones here are more potent. My family that came from Ireland before this was a country were keen on the laws of the land as well. Slave labor especially.

  Simon I never advocated for open borders and neither does the ad. The wall is not the fix. In fact the infrastructure needed to build the wall will just give illegals an easier path into the country.

  Simon. So what that video portrays doesn't happen huh? How many of these people die every year crossing our desert border. Seeking a better life for their child/children. The process isn't just lengthy it's damn near impossible for someone who is poor.

  My grandmother came from Mexico. Illegally 100 years ago. Learned the language. Was a productive member of society for her 70 years in this country. Had a son that was permanently injured during WWII, and died decades before she did.

  If you have bought into the rhetoric calling for a wall then yes your a bigot. Is there a problem with immigration that does not have a process? Yes there is. A wall is not the answer.

  What happened to "give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free." What it only applies if your skin is lighter. The immigration system needs fixing, and demonizing the working class immigrants is not going to do it.

  door knock took me by suprise.

  since it has been many years since a jw knocked on our door or i have even seem one in public ( not even carts around here) i was taken aback when expecting the little 7 years old at my door only to find a young woman with a had full of books with the spiel of being a student.

  i said i wasn't interested then she asked if she could leave a bock " faith and happiness" with me for just a few dollar donation.

  i was taken by surprise too much to even ask what organization she was with.

  i understand people love their family but i also don't understand why you end up caring in the end.

  i'm ready to leave and i 100% don't expecting my family to have any contact with me nor do i want them to contact me.

  if they are going to chose a man made religion over me, that's their choice and i will sleep easy at night.

  I was once that person who shunned. I am also guilty for inflicting it upon others when an Elder. I feel for my family and friends. They are captives of a concept.

  All I know for certain is what is here and now. My children are only young once. When they are grown it's over. When my nieces, nephews, and friends children are grown I will never get back the time when we could have enriched each others lives. This is one of the many reasons I mourn the shunning policy. Life is precious and short, and we waste so much time with nonsense that it's depressing.

  So, the Womens March ... What Is It For?

  it seems like mobilizing after the election, which seems pointless.

  i keep hearing demands for equal rights but don't understand what rights they are missing exactly.. normally a march is to show the support (and potential votes) for a cause, but ... votes for what?

  ... and the election happened already.. is anyone else confused?

  Interesting article today in USA today titled "Women's activists aim for movement". The article interviewed women who are raising money and capitalizing on the energy generated to support candidates in key swing states. It's happening as I stated it would. The march was just a start. Fortunately there are some smart political leaders out there jumping on this rather than condemning it as so many here are doing.
