The going price for real copies is around $400 to $800 U.S. You can get photocopies from a few people who are willing to sell them, for a lot less. The online version is the real McCoy, except that it's missing the Index.

tri-city herald.
by shirley wentworth.
ritzville - erica rodriguez and her mother, alejandra garza, broke down and cried when the verdict came in.. it took slightly less than four hours for a seven-man, five-woman adams county superior court jury to declare manuel beliz, 48, of othello guilty of two counts of first-degree child rape and two counts of first-degree child molestation.
I've done some checking around and I found some interesting things about Barbara Anderson:
She was a primary research assistant to Karl Adams for the 1993 JW history book Jehovah's Witnesses: Proclaimers of God's Kingdom (Adams has held a number of important positions in Bethel: head of Writing Dept. from early 1960s to about 1980, head of writing teams that produced Insight, Reasoning and Proclaimers books, currently a Gilead Instructor; see Crisis of Conscience for more details).
She was a research assistant to several other senior members of the Writing Dept., doing at times historical research, and research into complaints the Society received about its handling of child molestation and abuse of women by JW men. Likely this research contributed to the Society's change of policy stated in the January 1, 1997 Watchtower, where they for the first time recognized that child molestation was a serious matter and decided that a 'known molester' could no longer serve a congregation in any position of responsibility, or be a pioneer, or serve in any other special, full-time service (of course, the Society still gets around this 'rule' by keeping the definition of "known molester" unclear; a man can be convicted in court of multiple molestations but if a group of elders decides that the evidence that led to conviction is not 'scripturally based', they can ignore the court's findings and still appoint such a molester to some "special privilege").
She wrote several articles that appeared in Awake!.

i have gotten a little mean in my old age.
my sister-in-law is a born again church of god life time member and sometimes is a little dogmatic.
i love to point out fallacies in her religious thinking.. this might have been a little unfeeling on my part but she was talking to my wife about a tragic happening in her life 26 years ago.

H2O is the name of a board (it still exists) that from about 1996 to early 2001 was probably by far the most popular board for ex-JWs to voice their opinions. You can probably find a link to it by going to the freeminds ( http:\\www.freeminds.org ) website and clicking on the "Other Sites" link, then looking for "H2O" or "Hourglass".
Dateline refers to the American investigative TV news program "NBC Dateline". You can look for their website on any search engine for more information. Dateline is currently putting together a report on how the JW organization has mishandled child molestation cases, and will present the stories of several people who were abused and whose abuse was mishandled by Watchtower appointees. The story will probably air sometime this autumn.

after i came home last night i sat down to have dinner when five minutes later i received a phone call.
i did not picked up the phone.
then it rang again and refuse to answer it so i let the answering machine handle it.
You got it, Billygoat. You Know is about as cowardly as they come, hiding behind anonymity.
You know what he did a couple of years ago? He started up a website with the goal of beating up 'apostates'. He didn't realize that when you start a website, your signup information becomes available to anyone who accesses the database of the agency that assigns URLs. A bunch of people on H2O then found out his true identity, and told him, without revealing it on the board. Revealed, of course, was his real street address. Within a short time, he moved to a new street address. You Know is obviously extremely afraid, not only of 'apostates', but of the WTS finding out his real identity and seeing the nonsense he posts, much of which is 'apostate' by the WTS's definition. Poor old You Know doesn't want to be DF'd.

this was posted by jang at another forum, she had not seen it before either.. has this been questioned, talked about, etc?

Ballistic, if you want to see more than 100 examples of misquotes, misrepresentations, misunderstandings and general scholarly malfeasance by WTS writers, check out the long essay "The WTS View of Creation and Evolution" here: http://www.geocities.com/osarsif/index2.htm . It mostly covers the 1985 Creation or Life book.

god on trial #2 - how jericho could've been!
god now speaks to moses, aaron, joshua and says, while the family of abraham grew into a large nation in egypt for the last 430 years, many peoples and cities have inhabited the land that was at one time the dwelling place of your forefathers, abraham, isaac, and jacob.
the people of jericho, moab, midian, canaan, and many others do not know you, nor do they have a quarrel with you.
Your points are well taken. What it all boils down to is that much of the OT is nothing more than a somewhat cleaned up, idealized or spiritually justified version of the tribal conquests of the Israelites and of their view of surrounding nations.
For example, the best explanation I've read about the story of Lot getting drunk and impregnating his daughters was that it was a major slur on those mortal enemies of the Israelites -- the Moabites and Ammonites -- by making the claim that they descended from a particularly nasty incestuous liaison. I'm sure that when such stories were told around the campfire, there was a lot of sniggering.

freedom of religion or free ride?
shawangunk: a town assessor stirs the pot with controversial view on property-tax exemptions for religious groups.
by alan snel.
I agree with Schoeberl that religious organizations should pay their share of property taxes. I also agree with Johnson that the issue needs to be tackled at the lawmakers' level.
To give you an idea of what is involved here, I lived for about a year, 1999 to 2000, in Rockland County, New York, which is just south of Orange and Ulster counties. Property taxes in New York are ridiculously high -- which is another serious problem. For example, a house assessed at $300,000 U.S. brings about $8,000 in property taxes to the county. That's 2-5 times higher than in most of the U.S.
In Rockland County there is a large population of Hasidic Jews, who are extremely insular and contribute little to the community at large because of their insularity. They've taken full advantage of property tax exemptions by the following ploy: On Sabbath (Saturday) they meet for some religious ceremonies in small groups in the homes of many members. They've managed to get the county to declare these homes (a large fraction of all Hasidic homes) places of religious worship, which makes them exempt from all property taxes. Given the high percentage of Hasidim in the county, that shifts the tax burden to everyone else. Local non-Hasidic residents are extremely angry about this because it costs them an extra $1000 a year or more in property taxes that should be paid by this religious group. That is certainly forcing non-Hasidim to subsidize the Hasidic religion.

i have enjoyed reading and posting in the short time i have known of this site.
there is a lot of stuff here...some i agree with, some i don't, but that is the beauty of free speech!.
here is my thing: when something is posted as a press release from the watchtower, or from other wts sources, please always list the reference.
I agree that people should post their sources. Unfortunately, the jw-media site often removes information shortly after posting it, so there's no way to verify what was there. This has happened a number of times recently, and indicates that there is disagreement in La-La-Land headquarters about what should be made public.

dear freinds,.
i have been asked by a concerned husband to speak to both his family and his wife family about jws.. his wife has been studying with the jws for some months and he is very concerned.
he read alot on the internet and knows they use mind control, and make false claims to be god's channel, but he cannot convince her of this.
Detective, you're correct about the title of Hassan's 2nd book. The 1st book is Combatting Cult Mind Control.
