Re Hostage victims killed in Sydney: "dont worry, at least they will NOW get a ressurection"
by stuckinarut2 inso most would now know of the vile act in sydney last week where a man held hostage over 17 people in the lindt cafe in the middle of sydney.. two people were murdered...a beautiful, educated lawyer, loving mother of three, and a brave, loving young man working as the cafe manager.. this senseless and cruel act has touched everyone deeply, especially in the communities of sydney.
the outpouring of grief and support for the victims and their families has been immense.. i was therefore outraged to have the following comment made by a witness in conversation at the kingdom hall:.
"well, we dont need to be sad, because at least now they (the two victims) will get a ressurection.

@Cold_Steel
I sadly have experiences with suicide victims who were JWs and my friends. One was a this brother's daughter who suffered from severe depression and bipolar disorder. She never attended the KH or went preaching due to it but was still active as she could be. Only her family close friends could talk with her and she would be comfortable with. However, one night she was out by herself and purchased a handgun and never came home. Police found her and reported it to the family around 1 AM. My brother went that night to be with the family and myself and parents went the next morning. They were so distraught over it and the father stated; "The first thing that came to my mind was "Why Satan, why!?"...My heart sank when he stated that...This family was very very well off and she had no wants or needs but it was just the overwhelming of her disorder in which she could not bear with it anymore. (This was written in her diary).
Another experience is with my friend who lived with his family (16 years old) and lived in PA and FL. Again, the family was very well off and he was definitely spoiled as far as a teenager goes. He was very fun to be with and always acted wild but in a fun loving way. He had many friends and was close to his siblings. Sadly, he and his father always fought over him being disciplined. It was pretty much your typical JW teenager rules to follow; no staying out late with friends, drinking, etc...but my friend always would go out when he could. He was in PA and was home alone hung himself in his room and his father was the one to find him. The guilt literally ate at the father and he died a year later due to a heart attack. Everyone stated it was due to a broken heart from his son which I believe.

Kingdom chorus
by looter inso im at the meeting after its over and this elder says to me that god needs my voice because he, the elder, feels that my singing is not loud enough.
i did not tell him this, but singing just is not my thing.
he then went on saying how gods people are better singers than "the worlds singers".

Singing was a sign of my "weakness" for me. I usually would sing pretty loudly and then when I didn't care about being a model JW publicly for my parents I just stopped singning at all and it was noticed by them and elders in the cong. I just said I was too tired from work. Anyhow, we had a CO and wife who had 4 consecutive visits and they would drown out the entire cong. when it came to singing. Some of the sisters at other congs would put on that "gospel" or "oprea" tone at the end of some notes and it always made me laugh.

JW.org broadcasting studio
by Lynnie inapparently the very cool thing to do now is when you go to bethel you go and have your picture taken in the studio!
my uber elder cousin and his wife just did that back in ny.
it's probably not for everyone, my cousin's daughter and son in law are very "high up" in the org in "finance" and that's how they probably got to do it.

Wow, that is pretty wild. I remember when I did a few tours at Bethel we would get some "behind the scene" tours such as the art studio where they painted pictures and the videography room where pictures and filming equipment was kept. We had our Secretary with us who knew a lot of people in Bethel for years and we were able to sidetrack the tour to see that quickly. It's all about knowing someone who knows someone else...if only I was smart enough to sneak pics and share with the world but alas I was a young die hard JW kid...lol

Governing Body at Bethel and their daily routine
by Tenacious ini never had the privilege to serve at bethel .. therefore, community help is greatly appreciated friends.. do the gb members have their own living quarters separate from the average jw?.
does their "busy" schedule permit field service, if yes, how many hours a month?.
how long are their weekly wednesday meetings?.

Well, as far as modes of transportation go, I assume they have their own Buick's that are eventually recycled (sold off) like the COs do.

If Your JW Parent Died Would YOU Go To The Kingdom Hall For The Talk?
by minimus ini would like your thoughts, please..
-
jerryjax99
I would attend for my parent's funerals for sure even if it is at the KH. I am there to pay my respects to my parent's and that is it. I know I would have the support of all my ex-JW siblings who would attend with me for sure. I can bet it would be very awkward to attend but we would make it and just leave right after.

It would be ironic if one of the tennants was a JW. But hell you know they did a comprehensive background check to make sure that none were living there so when they booted out the tennants it wouldn't be bad since they are all "wordly". Also, the apt complex had to be selling the building to get rid of it or? I mean couldn't they have made a contingency stating the tennants have to stay "x amount of time"?

Men are not looking forward to becoming Elders or Ministerial Servants
by Hidden-Window ini have noticed an apparently increasing number of men who are not interested in becoming ministerial servants or elders.
i also know of some that have voluntarily stepped down (which is my case) for no obvious solid reason.. i remember, during my teenage years or even during my twenties, the brothers were always looking forward to being appointed... although many still do, i have noticed there are many others with whom you do not know what the deal is.. since there is no freedom of speech within the organization, we remain in the dark about the motives and desires of everybody else.
i attend a congregation with only two ministerial servants, while it is full of men who do not seem to be willing to do more.. it is hard to tell exactly what is going on, since honesty is not possible while you are inside, but i am starting to think that more and more are becoming disillusioned.... .

Heh, this isn't too surprising. I was born JW and my father was a very zealous elder for many years. I was pretty much always told I would become an MS one day due to my Dad being an elder. I was baptized at 18 and then at 21 was asked to become a MS. Mind you I was living my "double-life" with having gay sex and suppyling booze for all JWs depsite thier age. The meeting in the back room was with our COBE, Secretary and my Dad! I totally felt it wasn't fair that he should be in there....I mean wouldn't that be a conflict of interest or something?? Anyhow, I of course said Yes to being an MS but that fell short about over a year and my "sins" started to be revleaed and I got DF'd at when I was 23.

Oh my...this really hits home with me! I have a friend who is currently JW but is flamingly gay and it's known by all (especially since our gay sex we had got me DF'd)! LOL~ He also has a few mormon friends that he talks with about religion and all. Even my sister who is DF'd is a mormon now.
