Cedar Point 1922 convention attendees, are you still happy?

we all know the climax of the book of daniel, the fulfillment of all god's prophetic promises to mankind found their fulfillment at the 1922 cedar point convention, nothing more ecstatic will ever befall mankind as this wonderful convention.. those of us born after 1922 are so jealous that we missed the only "happy" event that would befall gods people in the end times.

can you guys tell us about it before you await the resurrection as there is nothing "happy" promised for us to look forward too.. or has "new light" been shed on my favourite jw claim of scriptural fulfillment being realised in themselves?

From my understanding, they believed that many "good" people on earth would live on it forever. Those "good" people were not JWs but they lived a good life and believed in God, blah blah. Heaven was first prize for the JWs and others got the lowly live forever on earth prize. Those killed at Armageddon would apparently be truly evil people. A slight contrast to today's JW beliefs...

How do I handle this situation?

hey everyone.

i'm sorry that this isn't a very thought provoking post but i could really use some advice on how to handle this.

there isn't anyone else in my life i can ask right now because, being dfed, all of my friends are "worldly" and don't know how witnesses function.

Those comments by the MS warrant instant removal from his position. It pains me to see people like him escaping justice.

You need to think of what is best for your situation. You can pretend you never saw the email and continue on your efforts of coming back so you can be reinstated. I.e. Dont rock the boat.

Maybe you can wait until after you are reinstated and then show the elders? They cannot use the argument that they were private messages... the MS in the wrong no matter how this information was sourced.

What is the alternative to JW?

It doesn't matter if Catholics, Anglicans, Mormons or JWs have printed or translated more bibles than anyone else. Most so called Christians believe that they will go to heaven... some believe they will live on earth forever. Both require belief in a God that created humans to suffer and die.

Would a loving creator give humans the gift of free will?

they say ignorance is bliss... well, i wish that god did not give adam free will.

i am ok to not have free will if it means i will live forever in perfect paradisiac conditions.it has been explained that free will is a gift from god.

I have free will not to jump into pits of molten lava. It is an easy choice for me to avoid doing that.

Does this mean that animals also have free will? I am sure that an animal will also avoid jumping into the same pit of molten lava. It is a combination of instinct and learned behavior.

The fact that you can make a choice does not mean that you have free will as defined by religious scholars. We are only free to make decisions with what is in our mind. This is a combination of genetics and environment. Everything that happened up to the point of our birth is responsible for who we are. We did not choose to learn that it is dangerous to fall into a pit of molten lava. Someone else put this into our mind and we act based on that information.

For the record, I do not believe in free will.

To be honest, I hope I am wrong. I hope that God does exist. Even if it is the God of the Old Testament... at least there is a tiny amount of hope there that we are not alone and maybe there is an afterlife on earth or in heaven... or another planet. Someone to save us from ourselves. Unfortunately, it is evident that we are alone on this pale blue dot and that one day will come when we will not exist... for eternity.

In my opinion a loving creator would and did give man free will.

And that is the whole problem with opinions. They are based on how we see the world. This depends on where we were born, how we were treated, what we were taught and everything else that happened before we had that opinion.

Do you think someone born into a Hindu family in India would have the same choices in life as someone born in Italy? Would they both be taught about the Abrahamic God? When does the person born in India get to get to exercise their free will so they can put their faith in Jesus?

In my opinion there is no way the human body came about by randomness or chance.

Does this mean that you believe in a creator? In the bible? If so, why did God create us in way that our bodies get sick and die?

Do you think it is strange that humans resemble chimpanzees as much as they do? If humans are God's special creation, why aren't we totally unique? We should not be part of the animal kingdom. We should not be mammals.

I find it puzzling that God would create Adam out of dust... apparently from scratch... but he would resemble one of his previous creations. Why?!
