what an audacious question!
" wow, bradley -- how could you stoop to such levels?
do you consider most people as simple sleepwalkers through life not paying much attention to reason, logic, science, history and a desire to understand?
You are okay logansrun ... and everyone around you is not okay ...?
i really don't think that's what he's trying to say

I have seen many people destroy their own life with repetative stupidity
i am completely guilty of this, and i would say i'm moderately intelligent. i've known plenty of incredibly intelligent people who simply cannot manage their own lives.
what an audacious question!

What the hell does that mean?
*shakes head* poor fool....let me explain using small words.....he thinks your posts suck! just kidding!!

i don't wonder how many people out there are true idiots; there are more than enough ignorant people in this world for my taste. what i wonder is, do they consider themsleves intelligent? i never met anyone who thought they were truly stupid. i'm a pretty realistic person and i'll bet i vastly overestimate my own intelligence on a regular basis.
but i guess it depends on how you define intelligence. to me, intelligence is more than just information storage. you may be able to quote lengthy passages by obscure philosophers or scientists, but it doesn't mean you understand anything about anything.
Do you consider most people as simple sleepwalkers through life not paying much attention to reason, logic, science, history and a desire to understand?i just think that in this day and age it takes quite a lot of work to scrape out a decent existence. speaking purely about the people i know best personally, i would say that most of them are preoccupied with making a living. intellectual speculation which serves no material purpose is a luxury they don't have. it all reminds me of thoreau's observation as paraphrased in fight club - the things that you own end up owning you. i don't think it helps much that there is such a preoccupation with "stuff" in our culture. things are important to us, and we'll spend eight hours a day working a boring/thankless/unchallenging job in order to acquire more things. and i think i'm getting off-topic so ....end of ramble. sorry, that's probably a completely confusing, scatterbrained post. you'll have to forgive me; i'm working my boring/thankless/unchallenging job right now :-P
i say "in the truth" on accident a lot. i notice that it's difficult to talk about Witness stuff with non JWs/ex-JW's because i rattle off words like "book study", "field service", "talk", "elder", "assembly", etc without even noticing it.
it seems in the past few months my entire life has paraded before my eyes.
i am malleable.
i go through ideas and try on personalities like elizabeth taylor tries on husbands.
Listen, I know this guy named Bradley......
OMG you took the words RIGHT out of my mouth!!!!!
they are starting a special preview in select cities to the latest tom cruise movie called the last samari.
really looking forward to going tonight.
we bought tickets to see it yesterday when we went and saw timeline (michael crichton film) which was ok. i had read the book and found it moved better than the movie did.
Shogun" (book and TV series) was my all-time favourite, and remain's such.
i've never seen the series but i LOVE the book!! oddly enough, my mom read it aloud to me while she was pregnant with me
edited to remove humor that by the light of day has potential to offend....
edited to put back cuz it's almost dark here now....
why men are just happier people - what do you expect from such .
lol @ else!! sadly i go for the older guys myself ;)
How does your mom feel about the WTBTS these days?
my mom will never leave the organization. she's extremely defensive about it...any time i even attempt to hve a discussion in which i seem ever so slightly unsupportive of the JW's, she completely shuts down or gets offended and ends the conversation. i'm working on my brothers, they're the only ones who stand a chance of leaving as things are right now. :(
