I just read this old thread. How many people are at Bethel? How depressing that place must be. Who do they get to go there anymore?If they only get $20.00 a week, how do they buy clothes? Don't they hear of the fact the the WTS makes $950,000.00 a year? How sad for them.

Search for meaning to life?
by Amazing insomething recently occurred to me that many people, whether former jws or others who faced hardships in life, often look for meaning to life ... specifically a special meaning to their own lives ... i have done that at times, before i became a jw, while a jw, and more so since i left the religion.. i was having a conversation recently with my oldest son who is now 29 years old.
we discussed the meaning to life and how he sees himself now - in his ex-jw years - given that he was raised a jw.
he made the following comment i thought some here may find insightful.

I agree with Bebu completely. Life is great! Go out and find your own greatness. That's what I keep telling my staunch JW dad. God gave us this earth to enjoy it. He always trys to show me all the bad stuff and I go right back with all the excellent stuff. Remember how everyone was so "evil". Since losing my guilt and really getting invloved with people, and life, I have found some really remarkable human beings. I'm sure alot of those people are right here on this board. Witnesses coming Saturday... I need HELP!!!!
by Globetrotter ini got into a rather heated discussion this morning with my unbaptised but raised jehovah's witness wife.
we discussed so many things: feb 1 watchtower article on 607 and 1914, the un, beth sarim, blood, god's mouthpiece here on earth, etc.
this was yet another attempt on my part to try to plant a seed of doubt.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm going through a similiar situation with my family. The only advice I can give is to passive in your remarks. Try not to be acusetory because that's what the JW's love. They really want to be the victim. They see it as persecution and again the whole "end of the last days" thing. If your wife is studing because of a spiritual need address that. The witnesses always say they can use any bible to study with you. So suggest a different bible. That might begin to help her. I was raised as a witness and even though I left years ago, I still in my heart believed thier doctrines. One day I was reading a NIV bible and started to see the deception of the JW's. I was never the spritual JW, but my eyes were opened and I 've been researching about them since. It was as if a light went off. Just remember to have problems with your family is exactly what they want. Then she will get more invloved and then they can count more time!!!

Hidding WT's Alaskan Plane?

Nothing is wrong with it. It's the fact that they hide it and have hard working people build there hall for free. They use people and then discard them. Why not offer the trip to the hard working slaves at Bethel?

Thanks, believe it or not my mom's dying was what pulled me out of the guilt of not being a JW anymore. I watched her die and realized that this was not what god intended. I started researching and found this site and others. I finely felt free of the JW's brainwashing tactics. I began to realize when I read the bible how clear it was. I did not need any Watchtower to explain it. I'm not here to get all preachy or anything. Thanks for all your warm welcomes. See wordly's are nice just like I always believed. PC

I am happy this post was brought up again. When I first started viewing this site I read about the plane. I have been trying to find out about it since. I told my brother who is disassociated but he did not belive me. I would really like to find out if this is true or not. My other brother is an elder and has some connections to Patterson and Brooklyn. My family is so trusting they do not believe the Society would do anything wrong.pc

Hi everyone,
I have been reading the different topics listed here for a few months. I will apologize at this point because I am basically illiterate when it comes to this posting stuff. I am an exJW. I have read so many of your posts and have felt as if I'd been the one writing it. I was raised as a JW my whole life. My dad was the head honcho and then the head elder. I have a family member who is still an Elder. My dad is still the extreme JW. Talks,eats,breathes the world is ending. My mother and father became witnesses before I was born. My mom died because of the blood issue. I have not been associated for many years but it was just recently I found out that it was a based on lies. I am at the point that I want to place a full ad in the NYTimes to discredit them. I was disfellowshipped in my teens. Then reinstated. Then I quietly disappeared. I quess that's it for now.
