What did people do before they had computers?

just got my 5th computer on my home network, but i've wired this one up next to my other base unit with a belkin kvm switch box so i can actually control two of them at the same time.

i'm pretty pleased with the result.

i have to run netlimiter which is a really cool app.

Yo Ball..glad to see there's another geek on this forum...I thought I was alone.

I 've been mostly off line for six weeks now busy with a buggy PC I'm building. Mostly oldish P4 (2001/12) 1.50Ghz cpu with 440 mbo parts(IDE's etc)) with 2x256 sdram pc133's, 2x40GB HDD's, 1 cdrw and 1 DVDRW. Problem is I could only scrunge a 300w PSU so I'm gettin stuck in the infinite loop thingy ! I was fortunate to get a nice and cheap AGP ...Installed a GeForce FX5200 with forceware 61.41 (beta)and it goes like a rocket for about 20minutes and then crashes (not agp related). No BSOD just reboots with a 0x0000009c ! Hardware failure. So now I'm looking for a good PSU. ..maybe 450W. Problem is I can't get one locally so will have to order it. In the meantime I'm formating , benchmarking BIOSing, BEOSing and heatsink, cooling etc etc. Maybe I'll eventually find the crash fix but as you said ..what would life be without a PC.

Ps .. so its you who put up the kingdom melodies on gnutella ! I suppose next they'll be on fast track and overnet hey !! hehehe only kidding .

Pss..I also ran a MOHAA server briefly but it was eventually cracked and I couldn't stop kernel buffer overruns..some bstrd was pinging me with anonymizer/neotrace (I suppose to use as a keepalive connection or perhaps a port 135 hunt (almost 45000 interrupts on zonealarm in two days)?? so I couldn't keep it up for long since it was a dial up server for low ping ISDN...despite the gloriuos MSWup patches etc etc I kept getting buffer overruns and after the whole RPC threat last year I just decided I'd rather play than host...basically turned my attention to hardware as a hobby than apps and code

Do you believe in psychics?

hi there everyone, just wanted to see if any of you believe in any psychics or paranormal activity.

i know that as a jw we are taught that any ghosts are demons and any psychic activities are demonized.

would love to hear any feedback and or any pesonal experiences you have had and if you believe they are all demons, or if there is a difference between good and bad spirits.

The Elders in my ex congregation were/are psychic !!!!!!!!!

When I told them to go and get @#$#@..they said : dammit they knew all along that I had joined the dark side of the force. By using their book of shadows errrr sherpharding the flock etc etc they were able to forsee my betrayal and me becoming a the local Sith Lord.

Ok ok ok so I watched a bit of Charmed and Return of the Jedi this week.

I can get a max of 16KB's ...frustrating as hell.

Personally I'm waiting for wireless of 512KB's...can't get better than that here in SA

i realize i risk making an over-generalization here, but i notice that many witnesses are just broke or nearly so.. this was reinforced with a recent incident in which i learned that only a few people in the congregation have any.

I remember being a pioneer in 1985 and living on about $1 a day and hand outs.Worse when I went to Bethel in 1986 I recieved an allowance of $15 a month and two suits (cheapies) and 1 pair shoes a year. I used to suck up to all the old ladies for them to knit me a jersey for free. I secretly used to fill in the Reader's digest sweepstakes hoping I could win and get the hell out of it..but was afraid that my terrible crime of secretly worshipping mammon in Bethel and the God of Luck would catch up with me.....

Besides, the vow of poverty, we ate like kings at Bethel compared to a lot of the starving massess of african brothers. In 1985 or 1986 (I can tremember exactly) I think it was an International assembly (United in Worship /Integrity keepers ????) and some of the delegates from USA and Europe were so shocked by the state of the convention toilet facilities and food (60000 people and about 4 blocked toilets etc etc I think they didn't expect witnesses to be so broke.. I specifically remember a German chap who was so cheerful on the bus ride to the convention..sing along..until he saw the toilets..next day he packed up and went home ................on the other hand ........Plenty money went to the luxury apartments of the local bethel translators and branch overseers....one even had a new merc.

So why were we broke back then ??? ...because we were suckered into believing the end was imminent and we would all be eating juicy fruits and have beautiful houses just like in the PE book ! The more feild service you could do the better !!

What a bunch of suckers we were back then !

Thank God I converted from the WTBTS poor economic policy to Capitalism...otherwise I'd be middle aged standing at an intersection with a cardboard sign begging for pennies.....you see you just don't get rich selling those boring mags !

What first gave you doubts ?

we all know the big problems with the wts, but what was the first thing that made you realise there were problems with the organisation ?

with me it was realitivly small stuff like an 8 year old getting baptised and a comment my best mates made about another of our friends asking if we should be hanging round with her as she might be bad assciation (she had just been reproved, but they had been mates 20 years).. .

how ever the first time i ever thought something was really wrong was when i was about 11 and my grand farther died, and mu mum wouldn't go to the funeral, i remeber thinking that surely it was better to say good bye properly than worry about if the service was in a church.. .

I entered bethel service very young (age 18) and soon started to realize that all the high and mighty brothers and sisters were fakes...but this didn't turn me yet (jedi talk) !

It seems I had to experiance the real evil of the WTBTS as an adult witness and only after waisting 30 yrs of my life in their stench of hypocrisy....

My real eye opener was years later after I had married, served many years as a pioneer, seved several years as a religious objector (military/prison) ,Ministerial Servant, Bethelite,Convention Overseer, Elder etc and when my work situation demanded long hours (economy went into a slump and because I had only basic schooling I had to work long hours just to survive) and this caused me to start to miss meetings, field service (I also had a group that I led) and I was struggling to meet my excessive Elder obligations I suddenly was branded as a weak and disloyal servant to the flock !!

If the Circuit Overseer could spit on me he would (HE ACTUALLY TOLD ME I WAS BEING MATERIALISTIC..THAT COMING FROM A FAT HIGH PRIEST KING OF FREEBIES LAZY DOG THAT HE IS...(pause to catch breath)...when I asked for kindness and understanding they eventually removed me from my position where I eventually told them to go and get f#ck*d after increasing harrasment and being screwed over by a fellow elder (business deal)....resulting in the long awaited announcement at the hall one thursday evening in 1993 that I was under reproof ,upon which I told the Circuit Overseer that he and the Congregation Overseer should also go and f#ck them selves after they did a pathetic "lets visit brother weak" attempt at my home resulting...therefore combination df'd/da'd (probably banned for life). Funny thing is my wife who was loyal to the WTBTS through all this was then branded as the "cause of my demise" they actually called her in to tell her that she's like Solomon's evil wives who stole him from Jehovah. Implying that she was wicked and had somehow sucked out my Watchtower mojo !

Thank God for that because that opened her eyes immediately too !

Anyways my wife and I since went to College/University and have a good ..happy..content life...free from the hell crap they call the "truth"

My advice to anyone waivering is...GET OUT NOW ..TODAY !
