These genuine medical conditions are sad. Reminds me of people who become alcoholics because of their gene pre-disposition toward alcohol.

Just one of many past actions I am ashamed of. But it did get me thinking and was one of the final flashes of light that turned me into a conscientious objector, no longer willing to serve the WT and dispense their sick brand of justice.
I used to lump all Elders together as the worst of the Witnesses. It's examples like yours (and Sirona's here) that helped me realize that was unfair and there is hope for them too. I guess my anger blinded me.

am i right in thinking that about 1995 the teaching on the "sheep and goats" of matt 25 changed.. i vaguely remember that pre-1995 it used to regarded that the sheep and goats were judged on how they received the preaching work.
then post-1995 it changed to that jesus would judge them when he came at armageddon.. can anyone tell if this is right.

i don't think i've made any apology for my leanings here towards jws, whilst i don't imagine most here will agree with me, i just think its good sometimes to redress the balance on this forum in a small way to let people who might be reading/lurking/ know that.. despite feeling messed up a bit in my own head about which direction i want/have to take in my own life, and despite many struggles as deep and traumatic as many have experienced here, i still hold jws as a group in the highest esteem.
i can remember what it was like to try and do the "right" thing and follow the way of the truth, it was bloody hard, and i fell down many times.
i always used to try and pick myself up dust myself down and start over again, sometimes with success for longer periods than others.
The easiest route I ever took was to just become inactive and move away, call it weakness on my part or whatever.
For me it is SELF PRESERVATION...To protect my sanity and my God given right to BE MYSELF. To be happy being me! The selflessness that the WTBTS demands is not what Jehovah is asking!
I do know that however, there were so many many good people in my congregation, and other congregations that were always there, and called on me to offer assistance.
Yes there are good people there, confused too as we all once were. They'll welcome you back but only on their terms!
...but a good support network back at the Kingdom Hall that you can call upon. friends that have never really forgotten you as you imagine they have, but those who would be so happy to see you again.

This to me is the main problem. Witnesses are constantly suppressing their true self, continually conforming to another human's standards. IMO, Unless you surrender all individual thought and will the stress will take its toll. If you stay it's a matter of 'choosing your poison.'

This reminds me of a couple of WT's many years ago with statements that caught my attention, one said 'manipulation for any reason was wrong' and the other condemned the existing dress and grooming standards. This tells me not all the GB is on the same page...Someone is THINKING!
