LOL I'm sure, but then I would have to explain why I want them. :) Or they might think I want to become a Witness! They don't need any encouragement!!!
Edited to add:
One of these days I'm going to have to stick with one avatar... :)
... i know that some here very generously post the most recent articles (e.g.
"comments you will not here..." which is a great post).
i was wondering if there is an archive anywhere online?

some recent threads on christmas celebrations got me to thinking about birthdays.
do jws forbid any aknowlegement of birthdays at all, or just the trappings of birthdays, such as cake, gifts and singing happy birthday?
what specifically is forbidden and what is ok?
That's insane. How are baby showers different from wedding showers? Aren't wedding showers "worshipping" the engaged couple?
I know. Preaching to the choir. :)

I'm actually trying to use some articles for a paper I'm doing for school (rhetoric class, of course). Thanks in advance. :)
SLM - who is getting so damn close to being a junior member!!!
it was funny, just now i was thinking about that term witnesses always use, "spiritual paradise.
" and i thought, things are more paradisaic for me now than they ever have been.
and for an instant, i thought back to how i imagined paradise would be, meeting people from all over the world, creating real friendships based on respect and honesty, and i realized, that's exactly what we have here in the real world!.
Beautiful post, and I absolutely agree. Kindness, love, compassion, consideration... those are the makings of "spiritual paradise". Some Witnesses express these - others don't. Just like in the real world.
i've had a few people ask me to post this letter.
this was sent to a small group of people whole friendship i have valued over the years.
all in all, i sent only about 12 copies of this letter worldwide.
Thank you for sharing. Very poignant letter - you express yourself very well.

Spin off question: I've never actually known a JW when they had a baby. Are baby showers okay? Is it okay to celebrate the birth?
i realize cutting hair is more "art" than "science" but isn't there someway a hairdresser can give you the same cut each time?
some way to "quantify" the length the hair should be on the top, sides, back, etc?.
i know this may sound silly, but i get mine cut religiously every 3-4 weeks.
No answers, but I was pretty ticked at my last hair cut. I have thick hair, so I said I wanted it thinned, layered, trimmed, with some face-framing. I swear, all she did was thin it a tiny bit and then charged me WAY more than I expected. She forgot mention that shampooing was $3, conditioning was $2, thinning was $5, blowdrying was $2, and so on until my charge - which I had expected would be the $14 listed on their price sheet - was $25. I was ticked, because my hair did not look ANY DIFFERENT. Last time I go there.
Sheeeesh. If you're going to charge extra for those things, SAY SO. Then, actually do the cut the person wants. Grrrrr.
- Done venting now.

so... this guy is in a restaurant, and he asks the waiter, "can you tell me how you prepare the chicken?".
"well, sir, " comes the reply, " we tell them that they are probably not going to make it.
LOL :)
i am a lurker on the "witness world" witnesses-only website.
they are having a discussion because someone during door-to-door service confronted them with the un letter.
they are all saying that it is "obviously made up"... but the person is planning on writing to the society to ask.
I've never been a dub - so my imitation of the language might have been contrived. Oh, well.
below is what was posted on witness world by polly pan.
i took euphemism's advice and others to protect my identity.
about a week ago it was brought to administrations attention that there may be apostates lurking on our board, as a precautionary measure we deleted 107 members who had never posted since they joined.
Dear Active JW:
By being here, you are breaking the rules that you have sworn to follow. I don't get that. I don't understand how you can decide which rules are "okay" to break, and yet disfellowship others for doing things not nearly as significant. Hypocritical.
I did not join WW to cause trouble. I have never been a Witness and never will be. Why? Because they ruin people. I have told Witnesses before and will tell you - I would never join any group that would ever ask me disown a member of my family because they have a different opinion. So why did I join WW? Honestly, to learn more about Witnesses. I am married to an inactive Witness, but I did not know him when he was active. I know his family, but that is all. I came to this site to learn, but I wanted the other side. I needed to hear what Witnesses had to say. I lurked. When the UN topic came up, I believed it was a true Witness asking and I felt obligated to confirm that the rumor was true. We ALL deserve the facts. Was it selfish? Maybe. Was it does with vicious intent? NO. YOU may know about the controversies, but most don't, and they do deserve to have it confirmed if brought up.
You personally are preaching "live and let live", but that is not what your faith teaches or practices. So if you really believe that, what are you doing in a Kingdom Hall?
