Food Poll....Now you're cookin'
If it's edible, it's toast(so to speak) If it's ethnic, even better, if it's hot& spicy, that's the best. I'll always try something new too.

its sunday again.
doesn't time fly when you're having fun!
so it's time for another of our weekend polls where we can sit back and have a smile (or frown, if you like!
Well, there was always the announcement, then all the wannabee servants got really curious about their standing in the congregation and then we had to think about reorganizing our Friday night activities due to the bookstudy being held on that night.

the following quote is taken from the september 15, 2002 edition of the watchtower, p.16-18:.
"in the first century, such individuals as hymanaeus, alexander, and philetus, were advocating ideas that did not fit "the pattern of healthful words.
" (1 timothy 1:18-20; 2 timothy 2:16,17) how could the early christians avoid being led astray by apostates?
Instead of being "mentally diseased over questionings and debates about words," they continued moving ahead in their positive course of godly devotion. (1 Timothy 6:3-6) We do the same thing when we keep on putting into practice the truths we have learned..................."
I find it very offensive that the WBTS would belittle those with genuine concerns about those who perpetrate such violent acts of abuse on children. I also am furious that this scripture is used. Debating over whether YHWH is Jehovah or Yahweh is about "words".Questioning statements and actions that seriously and directly affect the lives of millions of people, usually permanently, is something about which the Society should be concerned. It truly is sad when an organization is so narrow minded that they simply cannot see the need for an objective independent investigation into allegations made against it, especially when it concerns their own children. This alone should cause members to wonder.

This kind of thinking is really sickening and of course it is in a place where religion is not only strong, it's immovable, in this case Islam. This religion along with Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and every other ism is what makes this world such a rotten, stinking hellhole. In the name of religion, anybody, anywhere, has a reason or an excuse, justifiable in their minds, to commit any sort of atrocity against others, either individually or collectively. As far as I am concerned they should all be shut down and eliminated for good, and God(if there is such a thing, should hang his/her head in shame at allowing these sort of perversions to exist at all.

it's interesting to see a whole time magazine devoted to end time hysteria without one reference to jehovah's witnesses.
without a "date" to look forward to jw's are just another religion.
they have quit setting dates.
It becomes just a little tiring hearing this mantra. The one thing that attracted me to Jehovah's Witnesses a quarter of a century ago was this very shout of "Soon!!" Before that I thought Witnesses were nice people;a little strange but nice. After having been sorely disappointed AND losing my faith in God, I now see why I've no use for their organization any longer and I feel pity for those still being led along blindly. Truly I see them as just another religion.

sometime in late 1969 to 1970, the number one hit song "spirit in the sky" by norman greenbaum was interesting to me.
don garloff, jr., the jw man who brought me into the religion lived next to norman greenbaum ... don told me that norman based part of his song about going to heaven to meet the "spirit in the sky" as a rebuttal to the jw belief system of living on earth forever.
norman greenbaum at that time lived in the rural areas near petaluma, california ... i was listening to the radio a while ago and heard this song again, and thought that this might be an interesting bit of trivia.
Interesting little tidbit. Although I've never wanted to go to heaven anytime, alive or dead,Spirit In the Sky has been a favourite number of mine ever since it's airing waaaaaay back when. I do enjoy these little trivialities you folks sometimes post.Thanks.

dear poppy,.
you've been dead for some years now, and i came to know the truth about my religion years after your death, too bad poppy too bad.
i'm so sorry.. i'm sorry for all the missed christmas celebrations.. i'm sorry for the missed thanksgiving dinners.. i'm sorry for the missed father's day cards.. i'm sorry for the missed birthdays.. i'm sorry for thinking of you as a stranger, a "worldly person".. i'm sorry for believing other men and not you.. i'm sorry poppy for all of it, yet what can i do now?
Island Woman,
I don't comment much, but thank you for putting into words feelings that have been in my heart since my dad died a good number of years ago.He was an awesome guy and tried many times to talk with my wife and I about our beliefs, but we always gave him the party line.He went out of his way to include us in family events but to little avail and yet he never gave up.I was his oldest son and the one he had so many dreams for but because we were good JW's we seldom responded to his efforts;and now it's too late.
However, since leaving the Witness organization, both my wife and I are trying to make up for lost time to those members of our families who are still alive. We're trying to get to know nieces and nephews whom we ignored as well as helping them get to know our kids and grandkids.
So once again IW,thank you for expressing those thoughts and allowing me to share mine.
