even if it were just four or five good singers that practice during the week and get to know the new songbook well, this would benefit the whole congregation.
music is such a vital part of the overall emotional connection to the gathering, a well-rehearsed choir singing along with the congregation would encourage and uplift, don't you think?.
what is the society's reasoning for not doing this?.

i wasn't born in.
i got hooked in as a teenager.
was going through a tough time, wondered why we exist, why god wasn't doing anything to solve man's problems, if there was a true religion and, hey-presto, a jw classmate showed up with book that not only asked the questions i was asking but answered them too!.
Pretty much born in. My evolving consciousness woke me up.

i needed a place to come vent.
i went to a yoga class last sunday and loved it!!
i am going again tonight with my hubby.
I've enjoyed yoga quite a bit. Just about anything that isn't connected to the publications, meetings, and service in the JW world can eventually be demonized in some way. What a waste.

I like that I can take what's useful and leave the rest no matter where I am in my day, mood, and JW journey. There's a continuity here that I appreciate especially now in "round 2" of my growing out of it* phase.
*It's like layers of an onion, I tell ya!
what a fantastic book!
i really enjoyed it.
i loved the way don cameron refused to get bogged down with arguing for an alternative scriptural interpretation to the witnesses.
I'm working through this one too and echo the "must read" sentiments.

if i am to write and send the minimal of a da letter, stating that i do not consider myself a jw (baptized as a minor), what do i need to include in the letter to make it valid?
1. who should the letter be addressed to?
(do i need to send duplicates: one to local cong, one to headquarters?).
Aude, I hear ya. I'm considering this as creating a necessary boundary. Hubby is still in and I went back for a year. Yadda yadda yadda... I terminated my coming back "study" recently and am feeling the need to take my stand.

That's helpful. Thanks, both of you!

If I am to write and send the minimal of a DA letter, stating that I do not consider myself a JW (baptized as a minor), what do I need to include in the letter to make it valid? Also:
1. Who should the letter be addressed to? (Do I need to send duplicates: one to local cong, one to headquarters?)
2. Do I need to send it certified mail?
Thank you,

... and as i was filling out the application there was a line that said: .
"please note: if you are one of jehovah's witnesses, you may not join our organization!
ha, ha, just kidding!
I couldn't even get the DA status from a verbal confirmation.
Now that I read the new Elder's book, I'm wondering if this is still true? A lot can change in three years.
