Hey, I stand by my comment. They were most likely in the Victoria Falls region other than vacationing. I don't wish their death but they chose to go there and spread their message and died in the process. I'm happy that they won't be able to spread their message, not that they are dead.

Good riddance, that's 5 less dubs to deal with. They were all foreigners, most likely on some kind of WT building or missionary project, so they had the potential to convert innocent people and ruin their lives.
From what I've seen, those JW's that go on foreign assignments, are in it just to escape the boredom of everyday JWism. Sure, ask why they went, they will say to help those people but any chance they get, they sneek in some kind of side trip or adventure. Oh, and for most, it's not like they are leaving behind some great job or house because they had nothing to begin with. To go on assignment is a free adventure.
No tears here.

Quotes website can "confuse newly interested": so says my Elder/Father
by Quotes inhi gang, .
i went to visit my parents last weekend, taking my lovely wife and her mother (who is visiting us from overseas and happens to be a sincere devout catholic and a wonderful person, and speaks almost no english).
recently my mother mentioned (via telephone) that she wished my father would buy a new computer (theirs is a vintage 1987 ibm ps/2 25 mhz) so at the last minute i decided to give them one of the old ones i have sitting around, complete with 17" monitor -- a kind of "peace offering".

Well, I wonder if your dad will feel bad about getting a free copy of WT library and feel compelled to donate the $50 to $100 they suggest?

How Many Hours Do You Work?
by Englishman injust curious.. todays "times" says that americans do most things one hour before the brits do.. americans, it says, start work at 8am, brits rarely before 9 am.
american lunch is at 12 noon, the uk is 1pm.
american dinner is at 6pm, uk eats around 7.. but how many hours do you need to actually work?.

It all depends, in the summer anywhere from 30 to 40 hours. I work in the service industry so I can always pick up more hours or just take the entire week off. Now that school is back in session, I still work the 30 to 40 hours a week on T TH F Sa Sun, and on M W F I'm at school all day which I consider work, so right now I would say like 100 hours a week.
I guess that's what I get for being raised a dub. However, in another 2 years both my wife and I should be teaching and in the process having more time to enjoy life. Hooray.

Will there be an outpouring of spirit by JW's forHurricanc Francis victims?
by Atilla ini do remember in time's past after a major hurricance, that our kh would send disaster relief and i remember hearing stories about how jw's would completely rebuild fellow dubs' houses and then even help rebuild supposeldly worldly people's houses.
however, i never saw any photos and i never talked to a jw that actually took part in helping rebuild.
back then, i guess i thought it was really amazing and of course all true that we actually rebuilt entire neighborhoods.. so, now i'm wondering how much of it is true?

Does this mean that the WT could make money or atleast break even in "helping" dubs rebuild their houses? If so, I find that very sad. I guess I never did think about what kind of houses they were rebuilding, I guess assuming that your house was rebuilt to original standards. I learn more and more everyday.

So, now I'm wondering how much of it is true? Does the society still direct large scale humanitarian projects for say like the brothers and sisters in Florida or is it a much smaller scale than we are led to believe. I say this because I was watching the local news and they were interviewing several churches who had the whole humanitarian effort well organized. By Sunday morning, they were already on the road with many volunteers, an entire soup kitchen on wheels, and ready to help anyone, not just their own church members.
So, how does the WT compare to other denominations and charity groups when it comes to humanitarian aid?

Whether a psychiatrist continued to practice his profession upon dedication or not would be entirely his decision to make. It is possible that he could be a far better psychiatrist by reason of his now understanding and appreciating Bible principles, and especially because of his faith in Jehovah God and his dedication to do God?s will.
This line is so funny because we all know that if a psychiatrist wanted to move up in the congregation, he would have to give up his job. Or on the other hand, the WT is advocating that the psychiatrist throw away all those years of schooling and just hand out Awake and Watchtowers to his or her patients. Yeah right. If the psych. said he was handing out Awake and WT's, he might make ministerial servant even though he probably has more schooling on social behavior than all the elders combined.

Although elders are guided by holy spirit, this does not mean that they are inspired when making their decisions.
I guess Jehovah wouldn't want to open himself up to lawsuits, good thinking.
I have been part of an appeal committee that overturned a brother's disfellowshipping.
So, I guess the brother was totally exonerated and a apology was made from the platform and he wasn't treated differently afterwards, right?

Yep, today I was walking around campus and in the one study lounge, the campus spiritual advisors had left some Bibles sitting around. Out of curiousity I picked one up and started looking through it. Naturally, I would turn to Ps. 83:18 as I had always done in the past but something amazing happened, my mind was blank.
I couldn't remember Ps 83:18, I was like looking in Chap 40 or something for God's name, it took me like two minutes to remember Ps. 83:18. This is very good indeed, it means the past is fading fast. Oh, and I tossed the Bible back into the pile of books, I wasn't going to waste any more time. I had some real studying to do.
