Go Putin, now I understand why he got 93% of the vote. I totally support the ban, maybe it will force the Dubs to be more leniant in their shunning practices and their attitudes towards family relations. They will have to prove to Russian authorities that they no longer break up families. Also, more money wasted by legal disputes, I love it.

Finding serenity after leaving the JWs
by NaruNaruChan intonight was such an interesting and profound night for me.
i went to class... well, specifically a class that i enjoy a great deal... with a professor who has inspired me since i began college...
so i'm sitting there, listening to him lecture, watching him walk back and forth across the stage with this huge projection of the u.s. territories in the background... and for the first time in what seems like ages, my soul spoke to me.

Great story, especially like the part at the end where you get the girl. Just don't spend too long in the rain and then forget to do your homework.

I think your going to need more than 5 pages! Then again you could sum it all up with one word-lies.

Hamas Founder DEAD
by Yerusalyim inare we ignoring the fact that israel finally took out ahmed yassin, the founder of hamas, which has killed so many innocent people?.

my opinion...what took so long?

This Hamas guy, Yassin I think was his name, deserved to die but I'm pretty sure that killing him won't really make much of a difference and of course will only add to the violence. I guess if one day Osama grows to be old, people will say ah, he's old, why bother. Of course, at the rate we are going, Osama might just die of old age.
Also, it kinda funny yet it's not, but I think I saw that when I.D.D. got Yassin with a helicopter gunship, all that was left was a big grease spot and and some scrap metal from his wheel chair. I guess he should have had some better body guard protection or maybe a faster wheel chair.

by GermanXJW inin a long legal fight, the wts will be in court in germany on march 25th, 2004 again to get registration as a "public body".

after the reunification they legally moved jw headquarters to berlin and widend their responsibilities to the whole of german.

I wonder what countries if any the WT actually loses money. Perhaps its like you have to spend money to make money kind of like when a chain resturant or company opens a new store, huge costs at first but after a year or two you will see the profits start to come in.

Protesting the War in Afghanistan
by roybatty injust wondering about something.
i?ve been reading articles about the 9/11 panel and their investigation of the events leading up to that tragic event.
in hindsight, something should have been done and we could argue all day long if it?s clinton?s fault or if bush should have done something.

I just don't think you can compare the two Iraq and Afghanistan. Iraq was somewhat under control where as Afghanistan was completely giving us the middle finger. Plus, a preemptive strike against Afghanistan could have been seen as a more humanitarian operation with less ambigious conflicts of interests such as oil, etc. Either way, I think the idea of a preemptive war against either country before 9-11 would have been political and international suicide. Sadly, when we embarked on this new program of preemptive warfare, it was based on very bad intelligence which somewhat limits our options in the future. I say fine, get rid of Sadamm but it could have been handled a lot better. It's good to see Sadamm gone but at what price for taking future action when we think the situation is truly dire for our protection.

Yes, it's a slippery slope and no doubt, had it been either Bush or Clinton, a pre-emptive war in Afghanistan would have been strongly resisted. However, looking back, we now know that the war in Afghanistan was absolutely necessary where as the war in Iraq is somewhat murkier. So, I think it all comes back to bad intelligence.

Have you really left?
by Ariell ini'm sure we all view the watchtower society as a mind controlling dictatorship that has systematically destroyed our lives is some shape or form.
i'm sure this is why we've all left, but have we really?
someone can physically leave a religion, but emotionally they're still there.

Reality can really suck sometimes. However, knowing that this life is all a got has made me really appreciative of what I do have. I postponed so many things in my life as a dub, now it feels good not to hold back and just go for it, and I mean go for it. No more bubble boy life for me.

by Atilla inok, i'm not running right now but in the future i may decide to run for congress, most likely at the state level or maybe even at a national level.
i'm only 24 right now and i'm still going to college to become a history teacher.
however, maybe when i'm older, say 35, i will try to run for some political office.

Ok, I'm not running right now but in the future I may decide to run for congress, most likely at the state level or maybe even at a national level. I'm only 24 right now and I'm still going to college to become a history teacher. However, maybe when I'm older, say 35, I will try to run for some political office. I'm not even sure which political party I would run for. I would probably just pick the side left or right which gave me the best chance of winning in my district.
However, I wonder if my JW past could come back to haunt me? I know as a politician, it is good to have some religious cover, it's just the nature of the beast. Although, I'm not sure what people might think if they knew I was a JW, especially if it came out that I never formally DA'd myself. Often perception is reality in politics, so my past association with dubs could potentially be damaging. This potential damage is one of the reasons why I would like to write an official DA letter but I also have to contend with my parents who are still JW's. I haven't been to a meeting in over three years having decided to just fade but this might not be enough for people, especially in the political arena. Who knows, would this be a big issue, would you vote for me?
